I was looking at the posts for what movies people are looking forward to, and I saw some people say they are looking forward to WINDTALKERS. Let me just tell you:
WINDTALKERS = Crap
I saw this movie at school for a free preview and it was a horrible, unoriginal and boring movie. Nick Cage has the worst performance that I have ever seen. Don't go see it, its a waste of money.

The only review I have ever read about this movie is over at IMDB, someone seen it and really liked it. He said it was the most creative war movie ever.
When I do go to see Windtalkers I do not want to see just a War movie, I want to see a Woo movie. I think some people will go expecting this movie to be a drama like Saving Privet Ryan, but this movie will be a pure action movie from the best action director out there. I bet there will be cool explosions, close calls, a huge body count, and a ballet of slow motion gunfights (oh lets not forget the doves). And all of this takes place on a battlefield, I can’t wait to see it. Windtalkers is my most anticipated movie of the summer.

YOU WILL BE DISAPPOINTED!!!
Go spend your money on something else! Honestly, I didn't even pay for it, and I wasn't even worth the time I spent!

Well so far I have your review of “it's horrible, it’s boring, it’s unoriginal” to go on.
And then I have an even better review from IMDB to go on. I don’t listen to reviews but sometimes they can give you insight on what to expect. And I sooooo can’t wait for this movie.
Here is the review on IMDB

Summary: Windtalkers: Fantastic
I attended an M-Flicks, a University of Michigan, screening of "Windtalkers," on Wednesday night. All I have to say is, from start to finish, the movie rocks! The action lives up and goes beyond John Woo's usual performance. The film has cheesy moments here and there, but the action and choreography sets a standard.
This movie justifies "The Thin Red Line," the book. While the movie version was largely sterilized, unbrutal and mostly uninteresting, "Windtalkers" rightly and justly portrays the horrors of the Pacific battles. We feel the emotions of the Americans, who probably ask during the troubling times, "What is the meaning of all this fighting? Why don't we all just quit, and go home?" Throughout the movie, this main theme set the course. John Woo thoroughly convinces us of this point with excellent, if not disturbing scenes of mankind at it's worst.
I would say this movie is the most creative of all the World War II movies ever made. I disagree with anyone who believes this movie is trying to capitalize on the recent war movie craze. War is pure adrenaline, struggling, and in the midst of it all, a crazy sense of re-rationalizing. Anyone who reads the Thin Red Line, then watches that movie, will see a largely sterilized, weak movie, that does not take advantage of the book's vast resources of creativity. Now, immediately after, if they watch "Windtalkers," they will truly feel the brutality of the war. However, I will warn viewers to leave reality at home for a few scenes, when Nicholas Cage kills seemingly hundreds of Japanese at times with his Tommy Gun and sidearm. Fortunately, that's entertaining, and *halfway* believable.

John Woo is one of the most overrated directors on the planet. I haven't seen a movie of his yet that I've liked. They're all banging guns garbage.
The Nic Cage movie I'm looking forward to is ADAPTATION with Meryl Streep. WINDTALKERS looks awful, another lame excuse for more slo-mo-Woo shootouts. Blech!!!

If you don't like John Woo, you don't like John Woo. So don't go see it.
Windtalkers looks AWESOME. I can't wait to see it.
And if you'd like to watch some GREAT Woo flicks with story to go along with the blood, watch The Killer or both the Better Tomorrow movies.
John Woo is awesome, I'll be second in line for the Windtalkers. And I'll drag my frickin' girlfriend there too.

Personally, I can't stand Cage. However, I think John Woo's HK track record is amazing. Forget his American crap, MI2 and face off in particular annoyed me. I'm talking about The Killer, Better Tomorrow, Bullet in the Head, even Hard Boiled to some extent. These movies are action classics, and I've heard that windtalkers is actually his best work to date since he left hong kong. I'm very interested to see what woo can do with WWII.

I don't plan to. Not because I never liked Woo. Used to enjoy his work a lot until he started working in Hollywood and became a parody of himself. He should go back to Hong Kong. His earlier stuff was awesome, indeed.

I agree. Its not that I hate Woo, I just saw the movie, along with a group of Woo fans who said the same thing. It was same old crap that any director can do with a war movie.
I was just boring. Yeah, the action scenes were good, but that doesn't make a good movie. Go see it if you want, I was just giving you my insight.
The film was a little unbelievable, nic cage can't do a soldier. I wouldn't spend my money, but that's me!

you cant categorized john woo as another action director ... he created action ... he revolutionized action in cinema.
however, his action comes with over-the-topness....something a lot of people can't handle. But, he creates his own world where a good guy can kill 50 people with 2 pistols that never need reloading. It is the ultimate male fantasy to kick some ass with just 2 pistols and never get hit. Its pure adrenaline rush. But, when the camera slows down ... john woo has never been known to handle this part well. I think he improved with Face/Off ... but it went crashing down again in MI2.
So, with that said, John Woo's movies are guilty pleasures. They are simple and over-the-top. When I went to see John Woo's speaker series at teh Egyptian Theater, he received a standing ovation from everyone ... why? ...cause this little guy is a legend. Almost everything you see in modern action movies ... well, you can thank John Woo.
btw ... i heard there isnt any dove scenes in Windtalkers! and his new movie is not gonna have any action ... a drama about the railroad construction staring again Cage and Chow Yun Fat.
later!
