I've read and been interested in many of the posts you schmoes have posted about that Meg movie and I was curious to whether any of you have read the book. Was it good? Would you recommend it? I was just curious, because I might check it out sometime, any info will be helpful, thanx.

The movie for Meg was never made, but it could still happen in the future.

Hey schmoes. I have read both Meg and The Trench and found them to be very entertaining. They don't require much thought and are sort of "easy reads", but the premise is exciting and they far rival another book on the megalodon, Extinct. I find the megalodon theories to be very interesting, add to that that I am studying to become a marine biologist who specializes in sharks, and you got a guy who knows a thing or two about the subject. However, the books are rather extravagent at times and can seem a little unplausible (especially The Trench), but if you want to tune out for a while and still be entertained, read 'em!

In response to pedro, yeah, the movie was never made, so no one would have seen it yet...maybe you are thinking of Jaws

Instinct says it right, it was in development by Disney, but was (last I heard), put on pause.

pedro may also be thinking of another B-movie I saw at Blockbuster the other day...it was under new releases and was about a megalodon, but I can't remember the name. Looked like shit though anyways.

I just checked IMDB and I think I found it - Click here (http://us.imdb.com/Title?0284303) .

Also, if your interested, there is another megalodon movie out I guess, follow the link (http://us.imdb.com/Title?0313597) .

I have seen Jaws (I've been out from under my rock for some time now!!), that 'Megalodon' probably is the movie they were talking about. I am not going to see it i've decided. So, 'the Trench' is the same giant prehistoric shark deal??, what's it about?

I havn't read THE TRENCH in a while but this is my memory:

ANGEL, the femal meg, that is over 70 feet long was captured and put in an aquarium at SEA WORLD. Sometime during mating season she escapes while almost killing our hero. I can't remeber his name right now. But he gets his leg bit up by a male Great White and is hospitalized. While ANGEL is going home she is making horrible killings along the shore. The main character's wife goes on a Russian sub I think into the mariana trench. Where they find another prehistoric creature which the Megs feed upon. I can't remeber the names of these animals either but I saw them on WALKING WITH DINOSAURS. Anyways, they start to attack the sub adn what not and a whole shit load of shit is going on. The main character must get to his wife, save her before ANGEL arrives to take out the sub or the sub is destroyed by the prehistoric crocidle things. IT'S A FUN READ! Contains: Many shark attacks, rape, gun play, exploding head, insests, a few fun one-liners, cool prehistoric beasts...that about all I can remember...we get some cool chases, meg leaping from water at helicopter...shit like that.

Sounds awesome. I'll have to pick that up down at the local. In aswer to moviefans question, the reason i won't see it is because it LOOKS shit, it SOUNDS shit and people have been SAYING just how shit it is. I respect these peoples judgment so, i think i'll wait out the real Meg movie. I saw blood surf u see, i really don't want to make that same mistake here...

Ha! That reminds me alot of one of my favorite line from Burt Reynolds portrayal of adult film director 'Jack Horner' in P.T. Anderson's "Boogie Nights".

"If it LOOKS like SHIT, and it SOUNDS like SHIT, it MUST be SHIT!"

Classic. http://www.joblo.com/ubb/smile.gif

But I believe MEG could be a summer blockbuster, IF done correctly. Ditto on THE TRENCH...

I have to return some videotapes....
