Well let's hope Brett Ratner does a good job with Red Dragon. I'm excited to see how he does this since he has only done the Rush Hour movies and Family Man. He also directed the "Heartbreaker" video by Mariah! hehe

Ridley Scott did the classic "ALien"

and Brad Anderson, who helmed only 2 romantic comedies beforehand, directed the amazing "Session 9"

The Hughes Brothers did "From Hell", directing only movies about life in the ghetto beforehand (Menace II Society and Dead Presidents"

Kubrick did "The Shining"....and he wasn't a horror director.

Jonathan Demme directed "Silence of the Lambs" even though it's more of a thriller than horror, but he did mostly dramas (Philidelphia, Beloved, etc.)

just a few more for u guys!!

I'd like to see a horror movie from Terry Gilliam. Brazil did have some horror elements, as did 12 Monkeys, but he hasn't done a straight horror movie yet.

I'd actually like to see Quentin Tarantino or John Woo do a horror flick

Although, some of his movies have horror elements, I feel David Lynch would be godly if he made a strictly horror movie.

Although Fincher did Alien 3 and Seven and Aronofsky's movies have horrific elements, i'd love to see them tackle a pure horror movie. Imagine how much style they would bring to it. Both of them are on the shortlist of directors i'd like to see tackle an adaptation of Richard Matheson's classic vampire novel "I Am Legend". That would be fucking sweet.

Yeah, John Woo would make an awesome horror flick. Just throw in Chow Yun-Fat(Hard Boiled was awesome by the way), two Beretta's, and some evil monsters and you have an instant recipe for a badass movie.
