LOTR is a horror movie?
I know I am supposed to make a witty joke about it now, but I can't think of anything, can someone else do it for me?

you have to be kidding. Aliens did not start off slowely, and Lord of the Rings is not horror. I also don't remember Event Horizon being slow, and I wouldn't say Bats was slow, it was just all around shitty. The Shining, The Changeling, and Session 9. They are slow moving horror, and all are very well made.... beyotch!

*falls flat on face*
while on the subject of ALIENS.... the beginning dream was action oriented but the middle was slow.
THE HAUNTING was the slowest starting horror movie EVER!

THE EXORCIST. The first time I watched it I was 12, and as I sat through the Iraqi desert excavation scenes with Father Merrin I kept thinking "This is the scariest movie ever made? Maybe if you're afraid of getting dirt under your fingernails!"
My opinion changed once the story shifted back to Regan and Father Karras. Slow start, but a doozy of a middle and end.

prince of darkness lol, the credits seem to go on for half the movie.
why is lotr bashing accepted but when i say scream sucks someone always has to say something infering i am a horror snob? just curious.

THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE is perfect in my opinion, but I know many who find it to be a bit slow.

Saturn Girl, good call on The Exorcist.
I think those desert scenes add a lot to the story, but when you know what's coming later you just want to get to the good stuff!
I think Child's Plat started reasonably slow. I know it would have been hard to tell the story and quicker, but it takes 45-50 minutes before someonne dies, and it isn't till the stroke of the hour that Chucky reveals his true self.

I agree with Scully, Child's play is pretty slow.

1.Dario Argento's Trauma. Or as I like to call it, Yawnfest 93.
2.Event Horizon. Sorry, but thought it had some of the slowest dialogue in history. More so than Ronald Reagan's speeches.
3.Audition. Slow but totally worth it.
4.Crash. Ugh! I never thought James Spader could put me to sleep.
Halloween and Friday the Thirteenth are both somewhat lethargic, but enjoyable notwithstanding.

I do agree that Halloween is very slow in the beginning! I was waiting for him to kill someone DAMNITT!!
Also, Blade was a little slow for my taste...

I would have to say that Lucio Fulci's Zombie takes awhile to really get going, but once it does, look out!
I also found the first hour or so of Aliens is very slow...

Prom Night definatly the mother of slowness it takes exacly 59min before we get to the prom and the murders, and its only 30 min long after that.It is sorta worth it but not totally worth it.Halloween is totally worth it because the last 35 min is all action.

The Shining (1980) was pretty slow in the beginning.
It was still an amazing movie though.
RIP Mr. Kubrick. Although you won't, your work will with us forever.
