So, you get access to a movie theatre for a weekend, you've got two whole months to programme you're very own horror film festival. What would you put on ? Mix it up, old, new, classic etc. etc. I've just finished programming one for the fifth time and boy was it tough, thougher than the last four years. But as a programmer, I would love to see what all you guys would do.

Friday night: Friday the 13th Part 6 at 7:00PM

Friday night: Friday the 13th Part 7 at 8:30 PM

Friday night: Friday the 13th Part 8 at 10:00 PM

Friday night: Halloween at 11:45 PM

Saturday night: A Nightmare on Elm Street 3 at 7:00 PM

Saturday night: Freddy's Dead(in 3D!) at 8:45 PM

Saturday night: Return of the Living Dead at 10:20 PM

Saturday night: The Fog at 11:55 PM

Sunday night: Pet Sematary at 7:00 PM

Sunday night: Child's Play at 8:50 PM

Sunday night: Halloween 5(no joke) at 10:30 PM

Sunday night(technically Monday morning): Creepshow at 12:10 AM

Sunday night(once again technically Monday morning): Creepshow 2 at 2:15 AM

The marathon would then end at approx. 3:50 AM. With 13 horror movies, that would be a good weekened for me.

Great topic!
I'd probably do something like:

Friday: Universal films
Saturday: Hammer & AIP films
Sunday: Others such as Psycho, Jaws, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Halloween, The Silence of the Lambs

I can see why such a job would be hard, though!

My film festival would be like this:

7-8 Porn
8-10 F-13
10-12 Porn
12-2 F-13 Part 2

and so on and so forth. Alternating between porn and f-13

This is a fun idea. I've always wondered what this would be like. I'll go with six movies a day assuming they'd run from afternoon on into the night. Here goes:

Friday is Zombie Day, beginning with the locally made essentials.

Night of the Living Dead
Dawn of the Dead
Day of the Dead

Then some European efforts.

Cemetery Man
The Beyond
Zombie

Saturday is Slasher Day

Psycho
Black Christmas
Halloween
Texas Chainsaw Massacre
Nightmare on Elm Street
Candyman

Sunday would be mixed.

Frankenstein (James Whale)
Island of Lost Souls

The Brood
VideoDrome

Hellraiser
Hellraiser II

Man, I need more days!

Hey Ed, what films did you schedule?

Well, it's tough when you've covered nearly all the greats, Evil Dead, Maniac, Cannibal Ferox, The Thing, Halloween, Zombie, The Beyond, Blood and Black Lace, Alice Sweet Alice, Texas Chainsaw, Deranged etc. etc. along with all the latest new releases around Halloween for the past five years.

To The Jaff,
This year, I'm doing, Jason X (never opened here) New York Ripper, Dagon (deserved a big screen showing), Dark Water (new film from Ring director) The Happiness of the Katakuri (new film from Audition director) Ted Bundy, Cradle of Fear, Emanuelle and the Last Cannibals, The Killing of America, Chaos (an Irish sci-fi/horror), Witchfinder General (Uncut), Carpenter's The Fog (do a Carpenter film every year) Nightmare City (I know I'm nuts but it's fun with a late night drunken audience), I'm waiting on word on Cronenberg's latest Spider, a Surprise film and I plan to close the festival with a retro screening of The Lost Boys and there is still more to programme between now and Oct.25th.
Look forward to hearing your thoughts on the event. Oh, I might be getting some Bogey Man dvd's signed by Robert Englund to give away.
Last year Brian Yuzna came over, drank a few beers and hung out with us all. Watta guy.
There you have it Jaff.

Moving to General Horror.

Hey Ed,

That sounds like a great, diversified line-up. Good call on Dagon. I can't believe it didn't get a big screen release. What's The Killing of America? How did you come to get this enviable job? Do you work at a repertory theatre year round?

I'd mix 'em up a bit
start each evening off with a classic and end with a "midnight" movie, in between intense horror and a "lighter" film to cleanse the movie palette before the campy fun of the "midnight" movie:

Friday:
Frankenstein (he original)
Texas Chainsaw Masacre
The Funhouse
Frankenhooker

Satudray:
Nosferatu
The Evil Dead
Dr. Butcher MD
Halloween
Toxic Avenger

Sunday:
The Invisible Man
The Exorcist
The Brood
Dead Alive
Tromeo And Juliet

Hell Phantom
09-26-2002, 11:19 PM
Friday: Phantasam (1-3)

Saturday: Evil Dead (1-3),
then finish it wit From Dusk Till Dawn!

Sunday: Pumpkinhead
Aliens
Signs
Resident Evil
of course all of the Friday the 13th in a row in order till 6:00 in the morning to finish it off!
