whenever people talk about jason they say "the guy with the hockey mask and chainsaw" but he NEVER used a chainsaw! in part 7 he used the hedge trimmer thing on the psychiatrist, but that's it! does that piss anyone else off?

LoL good point, my man. I think people just say chainsaw for these reasons: 1.) A Chainsaw would make for a very gory death. 2.) They are basing what they are saying on the Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

Maybe they are all Bloody Murder fans. Wasn't that the one with the guy on the cover who wore a hockey mask and had a chainsaw for a hand even though he never used it in the movie for anything?

Well, he did have a chainsaw, but It wasn't in lieu of a left hand, and he only used it once to my recalling, in a bloodless, pointless, off screen kill. The damn thing wasn't even on either..

Well, when I picture the guy, I always see him with a bloody machete. But then again, I actually know a thing or two about horror films, unlike most of the population (of course I mean the general pop., not the "schmoe" population).

The legend goes in the film that Trevor Moorhouse did indeed have a chainsaw for a left hand. It turns out that the directors must have gotten lazy and therefore just had him holding it. http://www.joblo.com/ubb/smile.gif

In those kiddie cartoons, whenever they have a Jason-like character, they usually have him with a chainsaw chasing the main characters.

If you believe my housemate (see my post about needing a hint), Jason has a claw-hand, wields a chainsaw, a big kitchen knife, and the other day he told me he was convinced Jason drives a tractor (huh?????!!?!).

It narks me slightly when folks get the facts wrong, but that's what forums like this are here for. In my view Jason will always be The Guy With The Hockey Mask & Machete.

Theres this little , nerdy , annoying guy in my class at school and he always asks me about horror movies , one time he said something about Jason and a chainsaw. And I said Huh? He continued to say thats what Jason was MOST known for and I replied "NEVER , Jason is most known for a machette and SOMETIMES an axe."
But if you ever goto a haunted house at Halloween time , they usually always have a guy with a chainsaw at the end to chase you out , WITH A HOCKEY MASK ON , and this was before Bloody Murder ever came out. **Sigh** People thease days.

Yeah I love proving those idiots wrong!
Hey who else had a Friday The 13th movie camp out last night?? I did with my husband and it was great. You know if you do not watch these movies for a long time like part two you can actually jump in places like you are supposed to and I think that is great and it reminds me of old times when things were still scary and you are not so horror cliche jaded! http://www.joblo.com/ubb/tongue.gif

Good call m_m_w, but if you want REAL frustration try explaining this to my housemate. He thinks Jason is Michael Myers, Michael opened the Book of the Dead and Ash is just "that guy I fancy". He also steadfastly maintains that John Carpenter is somehow related to The Carpenters (70's pop icons). I've showed him the classics, and it just doesn't sink in. I'm *this* far from banging my head against the wall...
