1. Texas Chainsaw Massacre (I don't see how can't be anyones favorite. It was so far ahead of its time that it still holds up as one of the greatest ever.)
2. The Exorcist
3. The Shining (Not really as frightning as the first 2 on my list but an excellent story)
4. Dawn of the Dead
5. Halloween

Oy, here we go again. Why do I feel obligated to put my top five on every thread whose topic is top five horror movies? Why do people keep making threads whose topic is top five horror movies? Why doesn't someone make a top seven and two-thirds horror movies thread? Or a middle six? And who resurrected this old old thread anyway?

1) Alien (Ridley Scott)
2) Psycho (Alfred Hitchcock)
3) The Haunting (Robert Wise)
4) Dawn of the Dead (George Romero)
5) The Fly (David Cronenberg)
