I thoroughly enjoyed "Stir Of Echoes" more than I liked "The Sixth Sense"...why:

- I like to watch Kevin Bacon more than Bruce Willis (in most cases)...

- "Stir Of Echoes" was full of more energy...faster paced...

- I really liked the use of the song "Paint It Black"...

- I liked the kid in "Stir Of Echoes" better...

- I got sick of everyone saying "I See Dead People"...If I never hear it again, it will be too soon...

- The chick in "Stir Of Echoes" was hotter and liked sex...

- Their was more visual creepiness in "Stir Of Echoes" (ex: The dead retarded chick, the flashbacks, the red-tinted "sight", the hypnotism)...

- "Stir Of Echoes" was more upfront with the horror (actually scaring people while they were still in the theater), instead of leaving the theater after "The Sixth Sense" and saying "Oh...that was a neat twist and it was sort of creepy"...

Stir of Echoes. I never got a chance to see it in the theater (because of Sixth Sense's popularity and the two flicks' seeming similarities, SoE left the theater *real* fast), but I rented it and wished I'd gotten the chance. The song "Paint it Black" kicks ass; I couldn't get it out of my head. The story felt like a classic ghost story and I was more comfortable with it. Don't get me wrong, Sixth Sense had a good story and a cool twist, but I just liked SoE better.

Slightly off the topic I found JACOBS LADDER superior to both just because it was the original & because it made the Sixth Sense & Stir of Echoes predictable in comparison

I prefered The Sixth Sense over Stir Of Echoes.....The Sixth Sense was very well crafted and very intriguing and surprising in a suttle way where as Stir of Echoes well just was blah and predictable although the acting was excellent.

The Sixth Sense: A-
Stir Of Echoes: C-

Ok my vote is stir of echoes ok dont get me wrong i liked sixth sense but i felt more comfortable with stir of echoes because it was more like a murder mystery and the ending was cool that leaves it open for a sequal that may not be a bad idea and the sixth sense was more sadder at the end and i like good ending i mean it was good i mean whod have known but stir of echoes gets my vote.

I think that "The Sixth Sense" was a better movie in many ways - originality, structure, theme - but I enjoyed "Stir of Echoes" more.

One vote for SoE, but just by a margin.

stir of echoes 5 and 6th sense 1 and one for jacobs ladder. looks like stir of echoes is a way better film. the other thing i liked is the way stir of echoes looked. it was dark and really set the mood.

stir of echos a lot to one over the sixth sense. sure, the sixth sense was a decent movie, but didn't hold a candle to stir of echos. the horror/dark comedy mixture reminded me of evil dead and army of darkness. best parts of the movie-all the visions that Bacon saw. extreamly freaky.

My vote's for "The Sixth Sense." For now. We'll see what time does. I saw this film three weeks before audiences, and by the time people started talking about the ending, I still wasn't over it. What can I say? "Stir of Echoes" was great too. Kevin Bacon's performance is legendary. But I think the deciding factor here is that the kid is "Stir of Echoes" was okay with the ghosts, while the kid in "The Sixth Sense" was neurotic. It's that element of child tormet that makes "The Sixth Sense" more daring and ballsy overall...

Stir of Echos was the underdog when they both came out. Sith Sense was the favorite. I always bet the underdog. This time I was right.

The similarities found in "The Sixth Sense" and "Stir of Echoes" are obvious - ghosts, psychic kids, misty breath, etc. But here's the major difference between the two: In "The Sixth Sense," writer/director M. Night Shyamalan makes a cameo appearance, while "Stir of Echoes" is one of the rare movies in which Kevin Bacon's shama-lama-ding-dong does not make an appearance.

Sooo...you're saying that M. Night Shyamalan is like Kevin Bacon's "Bacon" - or - that Shama-lama-ding-dong is the correct pronunciation of "The Sixth Sense" director's last name...? Either way, I agree...

Just saw Stir of Echos last night on the tele. This is a tough call, people. Tough for me, anyway.

I liked Kevin Bacon's character better than Willis'.

I liked Osment's character and acting better than I did Cope's.

I liked the subtle clues and pacing better in Sense more than Echos faster paced "Boo!" feeling.

I liked Echos climax and ending better than The Sixth Sense (suprise).

The imagery and scenery is a tie, both in different respects. I loved Echos blue and red feel and look (the theater scenes were amazing), and I loved Sense's pale, mundane feeling, with red things popping up when you should be warned that something is gonna happen. One of the most brilliant shots in Sense was right before Cole got up to take a pee (and that lady scared him), when the camera took different shots around their apartment. Very creepy.

If I could get away with labeling them as a tie in my book, I would. But just too be fair, I won't. My vote will go to The Sixth Sense. So make it 6 to 2.

I had to resurrect this old topic.

You guys do know that Stir Of Echoes was based on a Richard Matheson novel, thus in no way was a rip-off from Sixth Sense?

Anyway, I enjoyed Stir Of Echoes a lot more than Sixth Sense which was, IMO, all about the twist...

The Sixth Sense kicks the shitty Stir of Echoes completely out of the picture. Damn Kevin Bacon, damn him to hell.

Actually, I have to agree with Deckard and say that Jacob's Ladder is the superior one. But between those two, I liked Stir of Echoes a lot better. Fast pace, good acting and effects, and I thought it was just plain creepier than Sixth Sense.

Stir of Echoes. It had better characters, acting and more creepy . While Sixth Sense was filled with bad acting(Haile Joel Osment), stupid characters and laughable situations.

I found 6th sense dull in the extreme and didn't even finish watching it. Stir of Echoes on the other hand I thoroughly enjoyed, particularly the performances of Kathryn Erbe and Kevin Bacon. I'll put a review in video capsules later.
