Hands down for me its The Hidden 2...what a crock. The first was so much fun but the sequel is spit. Whats your worst sequel?

*veers*

Oh man, worst sequel. A choice between EXORCIST II or RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD II. Both take there time to shit over what was good about the first film.

Definately any Amittyville Horror Sequel...They really suck.

The Lost World. (Part of my prejudice comes from the book being a complete sell out. Michael Crichton can kiss my ass!) (okay I just realized I was in the horror board....well it was a horrible movie.

I have a feeling TBWP 2 is going to be way up there. Jaws III.

The Crow 2 (oh, excuse me, "City of Angels") can kiss my lily-white ass. I told myself I wasn't going to see it, but did I listen? Nooooooo. Man, I hate that movie. And now they're making a third one? Oh, where are you Brandon when we need you?

Pumpkinhead 2 (oh, excuse me, "Bloodwings"). I'd like to sick the demon of vengence on the makers of that one.

Return Of The Jedi and The Empire Strikes Back. Both of them were worse than Star Wars(If that is even possible). Scream 2, I Still Know What You Did Last Summer, Bloodsport 2, and Airplane 2.

The Arrow

Jaws 3 is not nearly as bad as Jaws The Revenge. What a baddddddddd sequel.

Pumpkinhead head 2 was pure shite

Crow 3 is actually pretty decent a return to roots if you will, check out my review and Joblo's. Joblo hated it though...

Scream 3, I Still Know...(although the first was complete carp, too), The Lost World(The book was very good, the movie was nothing like the book), The Fly 2(can't say much about it other than that I thought it was horrible), The Godfather Part III(it horrified me how bad the third could possibly be).

"Attack Of The Blind Dead" was a crappy sequel to the great film "The Blind Dead"...did anybody see "Zombie 2"? ugh...

Jaws the Revenge was actually the one I was thinking about.....the shark mystically follows them down to Florida, right?

Jaws III wasn't good but was interesting in parts (it was set in a Sea World type park, right?) The effects of the shark blowing up at the end were rather awful if memory serves, though.

The Arrow
10-12-2000, 08:32 PM
Yeah Jaws The Revenge is the one with the obsessed shark following to the bahamas or something...stupid! Jaws 3 was with Dennis Quaid in Sea World...pretty bad too.

I never saw Exorcist 2...is it that bad? What is it about?

the night watchman

Let's see, what happens in Exorcist 2? Oh yeah, Linda Blair tap dances and then is possessed by a giant grasshopper. That's about it.

I'm probably the only person that I know that actually liked Jaws The Revenge. The film was, granted, pretty far fetched, with the shark following the family to the Bahamas. BUT, it featured Michael Caine (who was good), probably the most realistic shark of the whole series and some decent maulings and death sequences.

Jaws 3 was even better. How can you capitalize on the first 2 movies? Let ol' Jawsie run loose in Sea World! The whole smaller 'baby' shark getting caught and the monster mother coming after it was ingenious.(ok, maybe they were running out of ideas) Still, the movie is saved by the general himself, Mr. Lou Gossett Jr. who's great as the Sea World director.

That's just my take, I'm a huge fan of the wholes series, even the much criticized sequels...

The Horror that was Speed 2. . .that was wack. And yeah I know Fincher directed it and stuff but I didn't like Alien 3. It pissed me off after witnessing what had preceded it.

I agree with you Doctor Drew, I actually enjoyed all of the Jaws series, even though they could have been made a lot better, there is a certain attraction when you hear the title "Jaws" that you just have to watch the sequels and enjoy them for what they are:
Escapism....................
Not taxing on the brain, just fun!!

I disagree with dogus, I liked Puppet Master III. I thought it was just as good as the original, and I liked how it showed the developing of the Blade puppet. Not a great movie, but then the first wasn't exactly a masterpiece, either. My grades for the three I saw:
PM: 6/10
PM2: 3/10
PM3: 5.5/10

Psycho 2 - ughhh! How could Anthony Perkins even think of doing a sequel to one of the best horror films of all time? It was a terrible attempt to cash in on the early eighties horror craze. The only good aspect of it is that it makes you appreciate the original even more!!!!!

Urbane Legends 2 really sucked! It was one of the worst movies iv'e ever seen

Well in the horror genre Halloween 3 was pretty terrible, but Jaws the Revenge would probably take the cake for worst. Friday the 13th part 5 and tremors 2 come close but have some small redeming qualites, well barely.
Of course Crow City of Angles would take overall worst sequal outside horror, though it was pretty horrible. That movie was a pure discrace to everyone involved in it. In respect to Brandon Lee no sequals should have been made. And am I the only one to notice thuy trang , the yellow power ranger, as one of the gang slutes. Dear god what happened to her. One day she's on a kid's tv show the next she's wearing a see through top in a worthless piece of crap movie. She could have at least been in a legitament b-movie.
At least that I could respect.

I don't know why I made my Mr. Smiley Face pissed off, but what the heck, it looks funny. Hee hee hee.

I'd have to agree that "Heretic: Exorcist II" tops the Horror Movie Sequel Shite List. Linda Blair tap-dances, then goes into a room of mirrors and gets possessed by a blinking light. That normally would be it for me, but after seeing what a classic the first was and how there was a good ten to fifteen minutes of boring desert shite in the beginning, I gave it a chance. Well, you can call me anything you want for being that stupid, but by an hour and a half into the movie, I wanted to plunge a ball-point pen deep into my left eye socket. James Earl Jones in a giant bug costume spitting tomatoes? Some deeply disturbed priest that comes out of nowhere? A house that implodes for no reason other than to show the poor special effects that the movie had? And what in the name of Beetle Bailey's bastard brother was with all the friggin' locusts?? I thought it was an ad for Bug B Gone!

Well, off of that movie before my head explodes, let's go on to other bad sequels. "Jaws III(D)" and "Jaws: The Revenge" have to be a tie. Three had some B-A-D special effects and even worse acting. Dennis must have taken some lessons after this shlock. The Sea World idea was good, but everything went downhill from there, including an ending that was almost a complete facsimile of the original. Four had good effects and Michael Craine, but are we REALLY supposed to believe that a possessed shark (is this the great-grandson by now?) followed this SAME family ALL the way down to FLORIDA?? Give us some credit, we're not THAT stupid.

"Pumpkinhead 2: Bloodwings" was equally stupid, but seeing that it's been so long since I've seen it last, I won't get into it that much.

"Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers" Where do I start with this one? I know there were a ton of problems with the production, with Donald Pleasance dying (the ONLY credibility ANY of the Halloween movies had after part 2, RIP) and general clusterf*ckery going on. But alas, I have seen the so-called "Producer's Cut" and while better, it's still absurd. They tried to explain where Myers came from and if you look at horror films, the cardinal rule is DO NOT EXPLAIN THEIR MOTIVES!!

"Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday" sucked because of this same reason. But I have to say the WORST Friday sequel is "Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan" First of all, the title is misleading, it should have been "Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes the Titanic, But Then Spends About Fifteen Minutes In Vancouver" If you're wondering where that came from, it's the fact that the ONLY part that was actually filmed in New York City was the chase through Times Square, everything else was in Canada. What aboot the skyline, you ask? Well, that too. But come on, stupid-ass side story with Renee (what kind of name is that?) and Jason as a boy aside, they screwed-up the score BIG time. This is the ONLY Friday film that Manfredini didn't do the music for and the film suffered. Also, how in the name of Goofus and Gallant did Jason magically grow his skin back?? In part seven, you could see his spine and kneecaps, yet in this one, he was so human-looking that you could see Kane Hodder's finger peeking out of his glove at some points. But enough bashing Friday films, everyone does that.

"Psycho 2" is bad for trying to live up to the original, but that doesn't even come CLOSE to the blasphemy that was the HORRIBLE remake in '98. Vince Vaughn is a good actor, but Anthony Perkins (RIP) he's not. And Anne Heche in the Janet Leigh role?? What the flippity-f*ck were these people thinking?? I honestly cried at the end, not because of the (what) emotion of the film, but that they could shite on a classic like that.

If you have a horrible movie, then the sequel is ALWAYS going to be worse. That's how I sum up the "I Know What You Did Last Summer" series. And please God don't let it go past "I Still Know"

Now, I know I might get bashed for this, but I really didn't like the first "Puppet Master" The second one was a little better, but I really thought the third was incredible. It explained the origin of the puppets in the best way possible, the whole Nazi thing was handled very well and it looked like it even had a big budget. The best of the series in my opinion. But then the COMPLETELY ruin ANY chance of going off from that by making the pathetic parts four and five, then making "Curse" and "Retro" Now, I haven't seen "Retro" but if "Curse" is any indication, I think I'll ass-bang Janet Reno without lubrication before that. Did anyone else notice that in ALL of the kill scenes in "Curse" they used footage from all the OTHER movies? How F'N pathetic is that?!?

But I have gone on too long with this, so I bid you all adieu. I have to return some videotapes...

What`s with the Psycho 2 bashing? I remember liking it. Wasn`t it written by Tom Holland? (director of Fright Night).

I remember thinking that the story was solid. I remember thinking that the film didn`t try to top Hitchcock`s classic and went in its own direction. I remember some good performances (Tilly-Perkins) and a kickarse ending (the shovel hit...try to find where they cut to a dummy...impossible)

Now I cant really debate over the merits of the film cause its been a while. I think I will have to revisit the Psycho series. I remember hating Part 3 and so so on Part 4.

Any other Psycho 2 supporters in the house?

Yess, finally someone who doesn't bash "Psycho 2". I really like that movie. Although it doesn't quite match the original, it is way better than the rest of the sequels and the remake (I'd rather not talk about the pile of vomit that is "Bates Motel"). I really think Anthony Perkins does well in the role of Norman Bates, he really has that naive charm that is required for the part. Who would have guessed he'd do it again ? I especially like the last scene where he hits the old woman over the head and takes her upstairs, mimicking the famous shot from the first movie (only in reverse). But why start the film with the shower-scene from the original ? That was absolutely unnecessary, but fortunately the only flaw (as far as you can call the shower-scene a flaw) in an otherwise great slasher-flick. (8/10)

I too liked Psycho II. The best part was Anthony Perkin's wonderful performance. He's crazy, but he's likeable to and you kind of root for him.
I didn't like Halloween 6 at all. I thought it was confusing (something about Druids, right?), dull, and had a horrible ending.
Jaws: The Revenge was also pretty bad. The ending was laughable, the plot was just too dumb for me to handle, and it had a slow pace. I only liked three things about it: Michael Caine (he did his best), Lance Guest (also good in The Last Starfighter), and the black dude with the fake Jamaican accent.

Scream 2 was a horrible follow-up to a decent movie (even though said movie started this worst trend in film history) Crow: City of Angels is the worst sequel to a masterpeice ever. EVER.

on the lighter side, i also enjoyed Jaws: The Revenge. esp the alternate ending where MArio VanPeebles survives. How the hell does one survive being eaten by a shark???

heh, Micheal Caines character is called "Hoagie", hehehehehe

Why is everybody forgeting the Texas Chainsaw Massacre Sequels? They were horrible! Especially the last one. What the hell was that about? Aliens? The mechanical leg? And I Thought the family was cannibals. They were eating pizza! The only good thing about that movie is Matthew Mc....I don't know how to spell his last name, but his over-the-top acting was awesome.

Hands down. The first was a great movie, tense disturbing, it had everything. Then part two, a cheap ass Friday the 13th rip off, all the way down to the soundtrack (hell it was the Friday soundtrack). And the flashbacks, for god sakes there is one from a dog. I know Wes Craven needed the money but please...

I can't believe I forgot Halloween III. Was my mind trying to erase the memory?

Scream 2 was bad, but not bad enough to qualify. Hellraiser: Bloodline and Halloween 5 and 6 sucked ass too, although they could have been better with a bit of effort.

I've said it before and I'll say it again.
You haven't seen a TRULY crappy sequel until you sit through the groundbreakingly awful pile of rancid swill that is Howling 6.

After the first one, they started to get progressively worse, but this one achieved amazing new levels of suck.

From the red tinted camera lens stumbling through the trees (signifying the creatures viewpoint, the creature you never really ever get to see), to the truly AWFUL I'm-reading-this-off-a-cue-card-right-now-in-a-bland-unexpressive-monotone-Tex acting, to the...I swear to god....Line Dancing....arggh...WTF??? you've got yourself so much crappiness that we need to make a new chart for ranking this...whatever the hell it was supposed to be.

It shouldn't even be classified as a horror movie. It's more like....hillbilly dance party or something....

It'll get better....it'll get better....it'll get better....I'm sure it HAS to get better......oh god, someone rip my eyes out of my head please, and stab me in the ears with an icepick so I don't have to listen to it either....god, that was as bad as watching it.
