Ah go on then- whos the best Scream queen- who has the 'best set of lungs' on her?! lol and why do u like her.
Being a teen of the 90's i choose Neve Campbell- her performance is chilling and beautiful in Scream- yet she still manages to kick ass! Girl Power....lol

Neve Cambell or even Sarah Michelle Gellar (im not saying Jamie Lee Curtis because i HATE her).
Cyrus
01-18-2001, 01:24 PM
Definitely TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE's Marilyn Burns.
A close second would be Janet Leigh from PSYCHO...
Dominick

Jennifer Love Hewitt cause she's had the best rack. Plus she was enjoyable and has had the best scream.

sarah michelle gellar has the best scream as well especially in scream 2 when shes falling off the balcony, in IKWYDLS when she looks in the mirror after the killers cut her hair off and when she first found out in Buffy that Angel's a vampire.

THE TEN BEST SCREAM QUEENS
1. JAMIE LEE CURTIS (HALLOWEEN I & II, H2O, PROM NIGHT, THE FOG, TERROR TRAIN). No explanation necessary. JLC rules!
The rest of these lovely ladies are listed in alphabetical order:
2. NANCY ALLEN: Whether playing bitchy, scheming high-schoolers (CARRIE) or hookers-with-a-heart-of-gold (DRESSED TO KILL, BLOW OUT), Allen demands the viewers attention. And boy, does she get it! While sexy and tough on the outside, that Melanie Griffith voice suggests an innocent child lurking within.
3. ADRIENNE BARBEAU: Her sexy Stevie Wayne character in THE FOG was her best role (and performance) to date. Isolated for most of the film in a creepy lighthouse, Barbeau proved that she had chemistry with herself, having little-to-no contact with the other actors in the film. She also starred in the film versions of two horror comic book series: CREEPSHOW and SWAMP THING.
4. LINDA BLAIR: Her Oscar-nominated performance as a demon-possessed young girl in THE EXORCIST turned many heads (pun intended). Although the classic film's sequel (EXORCIST II: THE HERETIC) bombed, Blair made a mini-comeback to the horror genre during the early 80's in HELL NIGHT as a sorority pledge spending the night in a haunted house. Her chubby cheeks and raspy voice lend innocence to a reputation that was stereotyped by THE EXORCIST.
5. SARAH MICHELLE GELLAR: The only modern-day Scream Queen on the list. Although she has played a victim (SCREAM 2, I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER) more often than a heroine (TV's BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER), Gellar proves with her focused, intelligent performances that she is a force to be reckoned with.
6. ADRIENNE KING: As Alice, the most natural of the FRIDAY THE 13TH heroines, King's girl-next-door charm made me fall in love with her during the film's bravura final act, in which she battles Jason's deranged mother (Betsy Palmer). I always wished that King's pre-credits cameo in FRIDAY THE 13TH, PART 2 didn't have to end with her character's death...she should have stuck around until the end of the film to help her successor, Amy Steel (see #10) duke it out with Jason. All of the other actresses on my list have gone on to star in other films. King apparently retired after the first two FRIDAY flicks, which are the only ones listed on her acting resume. What a shame!
7. HEATHER LANGENKAMP: As heroine Nancy Thompson in three NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET films, Langenkamp proves herself as a worthy adversary to dream killer Freddy Krueger. Her brains are well-matched by her beauty (she looks like Brooke Shields' younger sister). After her character bites the dust in Part 3, she was resurrected ten years after the original film hit theaters in WES CRAVEN'S NEW NIGHTMARE, which proves that some people get better with age.
8. JANET LEIGH: The exception to the rule. Although Leigh's Oscar-nominated turn as Marion Crane in PSYCHO became filmdom's most famous murder victim, no one has matched her shower scream since, with the exception of her daughter Jamie Lee Curtis. What a great set of lungs, among other things! Leigh co-starred in two other horror classics which also featured her daughter: THE FOG and H2O, and also scores points for her supporting roles in the psychological thrillers TOUCH OF EVIL and THE MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE.
9. JILL SCHOELEN: Her quiet, childlike intensity helped propel such campy B-movie fare as POPCORN and CUTTING CLASS to mediocre status, but it were her starring roles in THE STEPFATHER and WHEN A STRANGER CALLS BACK that won me over. In the STRANGER sequel, Schoelen's portrayal of a terrorized babysitter is dead-on (pun intended), and she shared an instant comraderie with Part One survivor Carol Kane.
10. AMY STEEL: Perhaps the toughest and most popular leading lady in the FRIDAY THE 13TH series (starring in Part 2). Steel's ongoing battle with Jason in the film's finale will leave you breathless, but she never missed a beat! She scores extra points for having the guts to wear Mrs. Voohrees' bloody sweater! She also starred in APRIL FOOL'S DAY, a horror-comedy from the mid-80's, and proved her acting mettle in that film as well.

Lest we forget poor Marilyn Burns in THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE!!!
I'm going with NEVE CAMPBELL... She rocks and has done a lot of screaming, she does it quite well, I can still hear her scream... If their was a few screams recorded on a tape and Neve's was one of them I think I'd be able to figure out which one it was...

I agree with all of Antonio's Picks:
Marilyn Burns in THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE, Being terriozied by leatherface brought out the best in her. When they are sitting around the table and they show a closeup of her eyes, you can see the terror.
That is a good honorable mention to Jill Schoelen, THE STEPFATHER is one of my favorites, and I like POPCORN as well...

NEVE CAMPBELL - She's simply a great actress, and she's beautiful. She really makes the audience root for her with such a likeable character.
JENNIFER LOVE HEWITT - I think she's a really good actress too, and i just love her massive tits!
SARAH MICHELLE GELLAR - She was great in IKWYDLS and SCREAM 2. In scream 2 she seemed such a realistic person, and she is so cute. She looks too nice to die. It really made me think that the killer is ruthless.
ROSE McGOWAN - My girlfriend. Tatum was the best!
MICHELLE WILLIAMS - Love this girl. She was brilliant in H20.
JODI LYN O'KEEFE - What babe! Felt really sorry for her when she got it in H20.Damn!
KATIE HOLMES - Solid in DISTURBING BEHAVIOUR and really sexy. Better than Joey.
ALI LARTER - FINAL DESTINATION, THE HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL. Need i say more. She can act, and she's hot!
JADA PINKETT - She can scream quite well. Good actress too.

MORGAN, of the Modern-Day Scream Queens on your list, I agree with your choices of Sarah Michelle Gellar, Rose McGowan, Jada Pinkett, Katie Holmes, Michelle Williams and Jodi Lyn O'Keefe.
I don't find Ali Larter very interesting. And that PARTY OF FIVE duo of Neve Campbell and Jennifer Love Hewitt didn't make my cut because Campbell pouts with such intensity, one begins to think she has a perpetual migraine; while Hewitt, cute and adequate enough, is a waifish lightweight. Sorry.
I also would like to grant Courteney Cox an Honorable Mention. Although much older than the normal Scream Queen babes, she possesses a great deal of strength, intelligence and sass. Too bad she plays opposite a loser every week on FRIENDS (Matthew Perry), and in real-life as well (her dorky husband David Arquette).
Morgan,
I agree with every single person on your list. And I agree with Antonio about Courtney Cox, I love her and she was damn good in the SCREAM series. Man, since she married David Arquette I bet I would've had a chance...
DAMN it!!! I should've made a move...

ANTONIO/MIKE -
Yeah man. Totally forgot about COURTENEY COX. She's a babe and a damn fine actress.
Hey ANTONIO did you not put that 'bitch' from PROM NIGHT on your list cos she hasn't been in anything else?
AntonioDelLago
03-03-2001, 04:55 PM
MORGAN, the "bitch" character from PROM NIGHT, Wendy (played by Anne-Marie Martin) was in another horror movie called THE BOOGENS, and made cameo appearances in HALLOWEEN II and RUNAWAY (a Tom Selleck sci-fi flick). She and Courteney Cox are the two runners-up on my list, but most of the others went on to star in other fright flicks.

ANTONIO -
Cool! I'll look out for them cos i like her. Anyway, when does she appear in HALLOWEEN 2, i'll check it out?
Did they really split up Femme ?
I think it might just be a rumor because I saw her on the Tonight Show With JAY LENO and she talked about her relationship like everything was ok, or she could have just been trying to cover it up... Who knows...
AntonioDelLago

MORGAN, Anne-Marie Martin plays Darcy in HALLOWEEN II. She's a friend of Karen (Pamela Susan Shoop, another major babe). In the scene, they're getting into Karen's red Mustang after a party, and she's begging Karen to bring her home before she goes to work.
!MorganOnyx!
03-04-2001, 04:51 PM
No way dude!!!! I SO didn't notice! I'll check that out tonight. I remember exactly what scene you're on about cos Karen is late from giving her a ride home. Mrs Alves says something like "You're a good nurse Karen. We'd hate to lose you!"
Thanx man
P.S. PAMELA SUSAN SHOOP is fit! Major babe big time - she has an AMAZING pair of jubblies! And LEO ROSSI (Budd) gets to be a metre from them - lucky bastard!
AntonioDelLago
03-04-2001, 04:59 PM
MORGAN, since John Carpenter made up the script for HALLOWEEN II as he went along (and as the film shoot progressed...the "inspiration" for Michael's family tie to Laurie came to him late one night)...if he would have agreed with Jamie Lee Curtis's request to kill off her Laurie character early on in the film (why does EVERYONE want to rip off PSYCHO?), I always wondered which alternate characters would have survived (besides Dr. Loomis and Nurse Marion)? I liked Jimmy, the innocent paramedic (his fate was never revealed), and I LOVED the three night-shift nurses: Karen (Pamela Susan Shoop), Jill (Tawny Moyer) and Janet (Ana-Alicia). One of these babes should've made the final cut (pun intended). I hated Leo Rossi's character...Bud got what he deserved!!!

ANTONIO -
Sorry 'buddy' but BUDD was my favourite character, and i thought JIMMY, likeable enough, was still a bit of a wet rag. But interesting stuff! Personally, i would've either liked MIKE to have killed everybody, disappear into the darkness with LOOMIS arriving just too late (sort of a rip off of the first ending. The whole 'he's gone' thing, but i'd dig it), or something totally unpredictable, like BUDD surviving either on his own or with Karen - who survives cos of her babe status!!!!!! Everybody expected them 2 to die, i love unpredictable shit!
"Amazing grace, come sit on my face!
Don't make me cry, i need your pie!"

Another great Scream Queen that we forgot to mention is Veronica Cartwright, whose resume on the IMDB features a list of bonafide horror classics. Case in point: as a young girl, she was excellent as Rod Taylor's kid sister in THE BIRDS; in her late 20's, she portrayed Jeff Goldblum's wife in the 1978 remake of INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS; one year later, she was one of the seven Nostromo crew members in the original, visionary ALIEN; she was featured in the final story of the anthology flick NIGHTMARES, titled "Night Of The Rat"; she was excellent as Jack Nicholson's nemesis in THE WITCHES OF EASTWICK; she was a semi-regular on THE X-FILES a few seasons back as Agent Spender's ill mother (and Cancer Man's former paramour); and she was featured as a New Orleans aristocrat in CANDYMAN II.
ALIEN, THE BIRDS and BODY SNATCHERS are classics in my book, which proves that Ms. Cartwright has a knack for choosing the right projects, despite the general lack of respect for those particular genres (sci-fi and horror).
While her looks are unconventional, Veronica is always believable, focused and vulnerable in her respective and respected horror roles.

She's not one for Oscar-worhty acting, but I think JESSICA CAUFFIEL deserves valid credit as a Scream-Queen (post-modern, of course), for her work in UL2, VALENTINE, and even ROAD TRIP, as far as the SCREAMING goes!!
Good calls on Sarah Michelle Gellar. She's got GREAT potential, & should be cast as the lead in a horror movie.
Also~What about KATHERINE HEIGL?? She was delightful in VALENTINE (which I LOVED), BRIDE OF CHUCKY, and the DTV BUG BUSTER. (Plus she's got GREAT knockers!!)

Jamie Lee Curtis and Neve Campbell are absolutely stunning. They are both beautiful ladies. JLC won me over with her breathtaking performance in Prom Night. And Neve Campbell is the scream queen of the 90's (not counting JLC in the Halloween sequels). I love them both. And always will.

I do not think there can be any more scream queens. The newest actresses are not scream queens by any means. They do not have the same traits and qualities as those from the 80's. We need to call the newest breed of horror actresses something else. The only true scream queen will always and forvever be Linnea Quigley. Like it or not she is the queen of them all hands down! Lets come up with a new title for the new actresses any suggestions? Note:Scream Queen cannot be a suggestion. Out with the past, in with the future! Leave the term scream queen to the beloved 80's era! http://www.joblo.com/ubb/smile.gif

Deborah Foreman
Amy Steel (IMHO, the strongest of the F13 women)
Madison (ok, she was mainly a porn star, but was good in "Evil Toons" and decent (hey, she played a stripper) in "Naked Obsession" (not really a horror movie, but I have a softpsot for the late 80's, early 90's "dead stripper" movies)))
Monique Gabrielle
Melissa Moore (AMAZING breasts)
