Ok, ok so im predictable!!! which horror movie do you think has the best ending, that grabs you by the balls (pardon my french) and drags you to the final credits...which may shock you to the very core... id actually choose 'Mary Shelley's Frankenstein' im weird i know- but that film really did shock me, and upset me!!!
What would you choose?

my choice goes to evil dead it had a 30 min climax and the ending kicked my ass! great movie by the way. the runner up would have to be the first Nightmare on elm street, definitly disturbing.

evil dead 2, and by far one of the best endings i've seen yet has been for Final Destination. That fuckin movie had me on the edge of my seat the whole freakin ride!

Aliens had a pretty good ending.

Friday 13th 4 when Jason was sliding down the machete. waaaay cooool, and pretty disgusting. And on another psycho note, it's about freagin time somebody lopped off Michael Myers' head. Those movies are stupid as hell and don't deserve to be made anymore.

Two Carpenter flicks:
"Halloween" wraps up with my all-time favorite ending in a horror movie.

"The Fog" - The sea-zombies returning to the church, and the film ending the instant before the priest's head is lopped off - whoa!

I also love "Texas Chainsaw Massacre's" non-ending.

The last 11 minutes of THE ROAD WARRIOR.
Leo sinking in TITANIC. Bye Bye fruit!
THE ELEPANT MAN. Depressing. Big time.
RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD. No movie outside of the war genre has ever ended with a nuclear bomb dropping on the heroes!
The last ten minutes of DEADBEAT AT DAWN. Of all the times someone has said, "I'll rip your throat out," I never thought I'd see someone do it.

I would have to say
1) The Thing (Carpenter) what happened, did they Die or where they Saved???? I should smell a sequel...

2) The Sixth Sense ..........
Had me fooled , or maybe I'm just slow.....

i agree with ya eyeman. i'm a big fan of the thing from carpenter. He should've made a sequel long ago, but just think what he could do now with movie majic today! Dark horse comics did some sequels to the movie and they were pretty tight. you should check them out.

I really dig the ending of "Evil Dead", I just love that car...

(Note: I was watching "Evil Dead" this weekend and turned on the Bruce Campbell commentary track and I have never laughed so much in my life while listening to a commentary track, not to mention all the cool behind-the-scenes shit. It is definitely the best horror commentary track ever...)

Youve just found out Reggie is alive and Jody is dead! Was it all a dream? While youre confused, Mike goes upstairs, looks at that picture of Jody (who supposedly died in a car crash), closes the closet door, sees the reflection of the tallman, turns around, the tall man says "BOOOOOOOY!" and Mike gets grabbed through the mirror by the dwarfs! Amazing! I could watch it again and again!

definitely has to be HALLOWEEN 1 where Loomis looks over the balcony and Michael is gone, then the music starts...this is the BEST ending ever in any movie..it truly freaks ya out!!!i just WISH i was able to se this movie when it first came out in theaters...i would have seen it a shitload of times...

another great ending is TCM 1,where Leatherface is madly swinging his chainsaw around while the sun starts to come up in the background..something about this scene just gives me the chills...

these endings truly spook the audience as they make it clear that the "bad guy" is still out there!!!GREAT!!!

Best ending in a horror movie: FRIDAY THE 13TH, when Jason jumps out of the murky waters of Camp Crystal Lake and attacks Alice (Adrienne King) in the canoe!!! Still packs a wallop after 20 years!

Yeah, that was a pretty good ending...when it was used in "Carrie"...

So CARRIE was the first to use a dream sequence jolt as an ending? Big deal! It worked better in FRIDAY THE 13TH.

I still think the ending to SEASON OF THE WITCH rocked the house. I love endings where you aren't sure who wins/ the evil wins. Dr. Challis on the phone trying to get the tv station to shut down the channels cos the flashing pumpkin is on and any minute now kids heads all across America are gonna have snakes an shit coming out!! "Stop it! Stop it! STOP IIIITTTT!!!!!!" In the words of Llyod Christmas from DUMB an DUMBER "I like it a lot!"

I have to say that Evil Dead was a terrific ending. Everything from the final battle to the suprise ending.

The shown ending of Final Destination did suck. But, if you watch the DVD, you can also access the original ending. A whole lot more satisfing and interesting. Loved it

i like horror movies, but im no expert on them so excuse me for not remembering the name of the movie im going to mention hear.
I only saw it once and i think it might be John Carpenter's Vampires (its definatly a JC movie), where the ending has something to do with a dream and a video thing- im know its vauge but i thought it was a pretty good swerve ending. It would be much appreciated,if anyone knows what film im on about.

(i know what ive written is dumb, but im not arsed!) /ubb/smile.gif

A good ending is Phenomena where Jennifer Corvino is going to hug that man who came for her and that crazy lady decapatates the man with a piece of metal. I never saw that coming. After she tries to kill jennifer the monkey comes and slices her up with a scapel. Love the pit of body parts she falls in also.
Another ending I like is pet semetary where the creed wife comes back from the dead after she was buried by Louis and stabs him to death. Great endings........

!MorganOnyx!
02-13-2001, 02:11 PM
Yeah, that PET SEMETARY ending is pretty fly! Especially seeing as though he kisses her and she's all dead and dripping full of shit! I flip out everytime i see him do that - it's rancid!

Weapon X

I think the ending to ALIEN 3 definitely has its ups. Ripley has a choice; she can go with the corporation and have the alien taken out of her, or she can jump into the molten lead and end all this insanity. Then, when she's falling in, the alien bursts out of her chest, and she manages to hold onto it long enough for them both to fall in the lead. I thought it was really tragic.

The end of BLADE was cool too, when Blade takes that last cyringe and drop-kicks it right into Stephen Dorff's head! And to top it off, they added that one kick-ass line: "Some motherf*ckers are always trying to ice-skate uphill." The effect where he was bloating up before he exploded was kinda lame, but the actual battle was nice.

ALIEN 1 was pretty freaky. Ripley goes to all the trouble to blow up the damn ship, and thealien was on the shuttle the whole friggin time! So what does Ripley do? She creates the cliché of blowing it out the hatch!

Based on what I've heard, Ridley Scott had a really dark ending planned for Alien, but Fox nixed it; the alien bits off Ripley's head, sits in her chair, and speaks in her voice in a message to Earth. That woulda been freeeeeaky...

Dam I'm gonna go out on a limb and say, The Incubus- Closeup on John Cassavetties eye. The movie sucked but that was cool.
Friday The 13th 3&4- Like how Jason got his in both, like the endding to 3 beter though, when he's in the window.
I already said Suspiria when the door opens.
If you think the ending to The Sixth Sense was original see Dead and Buried.
Liked the ending to Silence of the Lambs too.

I LIKE THE ENDINGS OF A FEW MOVIES-
-TENEBRE- WITH THE AUTHOR IMPALED ON THE STATUE AND THE WOMEN JUST SCREAMING HYSTERICALLY.
-FINAL EXAM- THE GIRL STABS THE KILLER TO DEATH, WALKS OUTSIDE AND THERE'S A FREEZE-FRAME.
-HELL NIGHT- LINDA BLAIR IMPALES THE KILLER ON THE MANSION'S GATES. SHE STEPS OUT HER CAR AS DAWN COMES, FREEZE FRAME.
-CARRIE- VERY SCARY WHEN THE HAND COMES OUT THE GRAVE.
LAST BUT NOT LEAST, ANOTHER SLASHER-
JUST BEFORE DAWN- THE GIRL CHOKES THE KILLER TO DEATH WITH HER HAND... HER BOYFRIEND LOOKS ON IN HORROR.....

GHOSTHOUSE -
After the experience at the haunted house, the woman survivor is walking throught the middle of town. She looks out across the busy road and sees her boyfriend (the only other survivor). She smiles as he waves. He's about to cross the road when she turns around for a second to look into a shop window. Right there, in the window, she sees the evil doll that was the ghost girls' companion. It is just like a clown version of Chucky. As she looks on horrified remebering the events at the house, the dolls face turns from a friendly smile into a demonic grin, just as the traffic lights have turned to red. The boyfriend proceeds to cross the road, only for the lights to suddenly change and a lorry is steaming towards him. The woman can only turn around in time to see the lorry heading for him. She screams and the picture freezes on her face. DISTURBING!

God Morgan,
that does sound scary. I've never seen GHOSTHOUSE before, is it good, is it reall scary, what's it about ?

If it's good maybe I'll see if I can find it at the video store. I also want to see Clownhouse because that's supposed to be really good but they don't have it at my video store. They do have a movie called Funhouse though, I don't think I've heard anyone here mention it before. Does anyone know if it's good and what it's about?

PEACE

FUNHOUSE IS A SUPERB MOVIE...
IT'S DIRECTED BY TOBE HOOPER (TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE)
FIRST IT SEEMS LIKE IT'S A HALLOWEEN RIP-OFF, BUT IT TRANSENDS INTO A VERY SUSPENSFUL, TENSE AND QUITE SCARY MOVIE.
THE KILLER IS VERY HOCKING WHEN YOU SEE HIM, AND THE ENDING IS WORTHY OF A MENTION IN THIS THREAD.... IT HAS AN EXCELLANT ENDING.
ALSO IF YOU LIKE FUNHOUSE, TRY WATCHING THE HOUSE ON SORORITY ROW, THATS JUST AS GOOD...

MIKE -
I haven't seen THE FUNHOUSE as it's banned over here, but it does sound good!
I've only seen GHOSTHOUSE twice and that was about 7 years ago (i watched it again the day after cos it was so cool). I can't remember too much, but here goes:

Starts off with a mother and father banishing their daughter down to the basement where it seems they keep her most of the time. She just sits there with her doll (the clown one). Something happens, like, she kills the cat or something, and as far as i can rememeber, the parents either kill her or they don't get chance, cos something with an axe kills them all?! Later:
Main guy (the boyfriend i wrote about) starts hearing weird shit on his transistor radio at home. It is a children's nursery rhyme - trust me, it's some scary shit! After hearing this many times he decides to track down where this radio that is transmiting the tune, is! He, and his girlfriend go there, and find it in the attic of this house that has been empty for about 10 years. Other potential victims end up at the house (i can't remember how), and the slaughter ensues. Some of it is corny (including a scene where the clown doll attacks the main girl), but it is mostly, one scary ass film!!! If you can get hold of it, do so!! I mean, c'mon - that ending has stuck in my head, so vividly, for 7 long years! It must be good!

!MorganOnyx!
02-23-2001, 02:43 PM
Oh MIKE -
There is also a GHOSTHOUSE 2
It has DAVID HASSELHOFF and LINDA BLAIR in it!
From what i remember, it's good, but no way near as scary as the original.

Shit! Sorry, i forgot i'm in the UK!

To you dudes in the US:
GHOSTHOUSE is known as ghosthouse, but if you wanna read up on it on the IMDB, the title to type in is :
CASA 3 - LA GHOSTHOUSE

GHOSTHOUSE 2 is known to you dudes in the US, as WITCHERY, later repackaged as WITCHCRAFT.

P.S. The dude who directed GHOSTHOUSE also directed CANNIBAL FEROX
P.P.S. If you're wondering what's up with the foreign names, both of the ghosthouse movies were made by Italian production companies, but actually filmed in the US. The sequel was filmed in BOSTON.
P.P.S. I know this means shit acting, and maybe even a bit of dubbing for some characters (i think that is the case - can't rememeber), but they are both worth checking out - especially the first one!

HEY MORGAN,
THE FUNHOUSE AINT BANNED IN THE UK ANYMORE, YOU CANT GET IT ON VIDEO BUT THE CABEL CHANNEL FILMFOUR SHOW IT EVER SO OFTEN, IF YOU HAVE IT...
ALSO ANOTHER GOOD ENDING IS TO THE MUTILATOR.... THE MOVIE MAY BE UTTER CRAP BUT THE ENDING WHERE THE KILLER IS CHOPPED IN HALF, IS THE MOVIES "SAVING GRACE" WHICH STOPS IT FROM BECOMING Z-GRADE

Hypnotic Eye

I'd go with the endings to TCM and Halloween. They leave you with a haunting image: the empty house where Myers could be anywhere, Leatherface on a rampage with his chainsaw in the sunset. Both are superbly done and both leave themselves open for a sequel.

This goes back to Femme Fatale's reply on the ending to Final Destination. You would respect the ending alot more if you saw the alternate ending on the DVD rom. Alex dies from the electric cord. Clear has a baby she made with Alex in another deleted scene. And the movie ends with Clear Carter and Alex (the baby) visiting Alex's grave.

These are my favorite endings:

possible spoilers ahead:

1. Carrie- In Sue's dream, she goes to Carrie's grave, just when she is about to leave flowers, Carrie's hand grabs her and she wakes up screaming hystericly.

2. Halloween- Dr. Loomis shoots Michael six times, then Michael falls out the window. Then Loomis looks down and Michael is gone.

3. Alice Sweet Alice- After Alice sees Mrs. Tredoni murder Father Tom, she picks up the knife and puts it in her bag.

4. Friday the 13th- Jason attacks Alice in the canoe.

5. A Nightmare on Elm Street- Nancy's friends are still alive, and Freddy attacks Marge through the door.

6. American Psycho- Could Patrick have made all the murders up in his mind?

7. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre- Sally is saved but is going nuts, and Leatherface, The Cook, and The Grandfather are still alive.

8. Psycho Beach Party- Florence kills the two teens in the drive in while they are watching a movie based on her murders, almost like a ripoff of the first scene of Scream 2 but still pretty cool.

9. April Fool's Day- No one is really dead, it was all just an april fool's prank.

10. The Sixth Sence- Malcolm was just a ghost through the whole movie.

I'm suprised that the two endings that freaked me out the most (And consequently the best endings) haven't been mentioned yet.

1-Prince Of Darkness! I was shittin myself right up till the end and then it left me wanting.

2-Halloween 4. I'm not saying it was a better film than the original but I think the ending was a lot scarier (Who ripped off who? Did Friday part 4 come out before or after Halloween 4. The original friday was two years later than Halloween so I'd have thought that it'd be Friday ripping off Halloween)

i personally think it is a tie between Memento- Guy Pearce was twisted in that movie/ and the other would have to be Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2; that ending kicked in the ass.
