The best Hammer film of all time was, in my opinion, Vampire Circus.

My favorite is probably THE BRIDES OF DRACULA...that's the creepiest, and I dig "creepy" above all...which is why I also love THE NANNY. Good call Antonio, I often forget that was Hammer, considering it's a bit of an odd companion to most of their output. Oh, and DIE, DIE MY DARLING, that scared the shit out of me when I was a kid. Tallulah Bankhead plays one of the meanest bitches EVER in that one... I also really like John Gilling's stuff, especially PLAGUE OF THE ZOMBIES and THE REPTILE. His PIRATES OF BLOOD RIVER looks cool too, with Chris Lee as an eye patch wearin', disabled swashbuckler. Haven't seen it all the way through yet, so I can't say for sure if it lives up to it's promise. Anyone seen the Hammer film titled NIGHTMARE? I hear that one is classic.

Other favorites : QUATERMASS AND THE PIT (Nigel Kneale is a genius), HORROR OF DRACULA (of course), CURSE OF FRANKENSTEIN, THE GORGON, THE HOUND OF THE BASKERVILLES, THE DEVIL RIDES OUT, and TWINS OF EVIL. Haven't gotten around to watching VAMPIRE CIRCUS yet, but I have a copy I won off of ebay months ago waiting to be checked out. Now would be a good time to check it out, I guess.

I have been looking at this thread and IMDB for days trying to make my choices, and in the final analysis I just can't pick. I have a fondness for all the Hammer films I ever saw, wich is most of the Mummy,Drac, and Frankie ones...Curse of the Werewolf...the Quatermass films...Lost Continent.I love just about every movie I ever saw with Cushing or Lee, and alot of them don't seem to be listed as Hammer films (Island of Terror, Wicker Man for example). I was surprised at how many I THOUGHT were Hammer films that weren't (Tales From the Crypt and Vault of Horror).

I guess I just have a fondness for Brit films of that whole era in general...50/60/70's ...just can't pick.

I did see 2 on the Hammer credits I hadn't known were Hammer films (One Million BC and Creatures the World Forgot) that I have a fondness for.

Anyway.
