REPORTER: Carl Kolchak (Darren McGavin) in THE NIGHT STALKER. Runner-Up: Gale Weathers in SCREAM.

(I'm not a fan of this movie but he was good)

David Soul was surprisingly good as author Ben Mears in 'SALEMS LOT. And Carl Kolchak is the only cool reporter in horror I can think of for some reason...Do you read Sutter Cane?

Miguel Ferrer as a writer/reporter in THE NIGHT FLIER was great.

SUTTER CANE was the man in INT THE MOUTH OF MADNESS. Carpenter knows how to send up horror writers. Plus Jurgen with poofy hair is cool.
For female writers, Helen Lyle in Candyman rocks, I agree with Stevereno. She was great as a heroine but a competent writer also.

I think two of the best writers were definitley Wes Craven (very clever and original) from NEW NIGHTMARE and Jack Torrance from The Shining. Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.
