I love both these guys and I think they make every movie there in more enjoyable. I have to go with Combs as my favorite because he is a great actor and he has appeared in aolt more horror movies then Bruce.

I've met Bruce 3 times and I've seen more of his work, but I'm starting to see more of Combs' work as well. I can't choose!!! Ash and Herbert West have taught me many important things! Ash taught me the importance about keeping calm while demons ravage your friends. And Herbert taught me that all plaguerists should have their heads cut off with shovels.

I've loved Jeffrey Combs in everything I've seen him in so far, but my vote's gotta go to Bruce Campbell.
If Combs asked me to "give him some sugar, baby" I'd probably run a mile.

Id give Combs sugar anyday, growll.
Bruce is definately the man of horror when it cames to ham, but Combs gave Herbert West real character, and he has more acting talent than Bruce (sorry).
Plus, he is sooooo cute I would die if he clipped his consonants for me.

Most of us know how cool Bruce is with the fans, but how does Jeffrey deal with his cult following?

Combs actually is quite funny, as he goes to viewings of THE RE-ANIMATOR and comments on the film, takes questions.
He knows that his fan base is not derived from big budget action films. Bruce is a little more tongue in cheek, but Combs is a quiet guy. His co-star on CASTLE FREAK even said he spends a lot of time with his family.
Thats what I like about him, hes very normal (so is Bruce, but Combs has this everyman charm that is adorable), and acknowledges his fans. He should know, he played Weyoun on DEEP SPACE NINE.

Lady S, that sounds cool. I wish I could could meet him, but there are never any horror conventions in Chicago. Mabye he'd appear at a Trekkie con, though...

The KING of over-acting: Bruce Campbell
The KING of under-acting: Jeffrey Coombs
The movie of a lifetime: Bruce Campbell starring opposite Jeffrey Coombs as Coombs'younger, louder brother.

I've had an idea for a horror film that I wanna be in where Bruce stars as my uncle and Jeffrey stars as my Biology teacher. If only I had a budget....
BTW, does anyone know if Bruce and Jeff have ever met each other??

Gooood topic. I was actually thinking about this yesterday so it's cool to see someone made a thread about it.
I think Combs is probably the better actor but Bruce has starred in more films that I really care about. THE EVIL DEAD, DEAD BY DAWN, Maniac Cop, and Bubba Nosferatu. Yeah, that is definitely hard to beat.
Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.

I refuse to choose, I just can't. Both are two of the best things to happen to movies ever! Campbell's been hilarious in a number of things and is a great actor, and Combs just rocks in everything he does.
Seriously, I can't choose.

They both kick ass, but lets be honest Combs is the better "actor" of the two.

BRUCE all the way, although I did enjoy Combs in his role in the new TWILIGHT ZONE series on UPN (2002-2003). The episode was titled "The Placebo Effect", and the hot hot hot Sydney Tamiia Poitier was his co-star!!!
Oddly enough, aside from Elvis in BUBBA HO-TEP, my favorite Bruce Campbell role was in another great horror TV series...THE X-FILES (Episode: "Terms Of Endearment"), as a bigamist with two wives (one good...the other evil, natch!). I'll never think of the Garbage song "I'm Only Happy When It Rains!" the same way again! Rent this one on DVD if you're a diehard X-Files and Brucie fan!!!

Jeeze, what a good question. Dr. West or Ash?!
I'd have to agree with everyone above as to who is the better overall actor, Jeffrey Combs. I'm a huge Stuart Gordon fan and they bring out the best in each other in my opinion (if they reunite on House of Re-Animator, we'll be in for an uber-sweet treat.) Even his bit roles in less than sub-par movies are memorable and entertaining ( FearDotCom, The Pit and The Pendulum (1990)) His voicework on Justice League was pretty sweet too.
As for Ash, I was born the year Evil Dead 2 came out, so the only one I've seen in theaters is "Army of Darkness", which is why its my favorite of the trilogy, but this is Brucey Bruce at his most hilarious, most manic, most heroic, most bad-ass joblo guy with a gun. whereas "Bubba Hotep" is just fried gold in my mind.
In a movie fight? Ash would kick Dr. West's ass. In a real life fight? Bruce Campbell could probably take Jeffrey Combs. as to which one is MY favorite?
Jeffrey Combs.

Bruce.
But I've seen Jeff at a few conventions and he's an awesome guy. He does a great job of introducing movies and he tells stories about production where in some cases (Sid Haig notably) the actor doesn't say a whole hell of a lot.

I do love The Chin, but I gotta go with Combs. That scene in From Beyond, with him and Carol Purdy-Gordon when he's licking them brains is GOLD.

It's got to be The Almighty Chin. Sure they've both made their careers as B-Movie horror icons, but when push comes to shove, Bruce could kick Combs' ass any day of the week.
