(HALLOWEEN 8 SPOILERS & FRIDAY THE 13TH PART V SPOILERS... AS IF YOU CARE)
C'mon schmoes, this is a fucking joke!
I'm getting really pissed off by people freely discussing films without posting spoiler warnings... especially films that have been out in the US and not in Britain yet.
Now this is going to sound like an anti-American jibe here... but this also goes for non-Americans who have downloaded such films as Halloween 8 and, in the past, Jason X off of that bastarding KaZaA.
Nobody seems to give a fuck about posting spoilers if the film isn't in US cinemas anymore. There are people in other threads freely saying "I'd have liked to have seen Laurie in Halloween 9, but we might not because she died in Halloween 8". Thanks, man! That's fucking helpful!
Now, I knew what happened in Halloween 8 because I took note of spoiler warnings posted before it even came out in the US, and I decided to find out what happened by my own free will. However, everyone now seems to think that "well, the die-hard fans that come on the JoBlo horror messageboards will have seen Halloween 8 on the first week it came out, so we won't need to put spoiler warnings on then, because if they didn't know, they obviously aren't real fans."
Heads up, son! It ain't fuckin' here yet! Some of us UK horror fans (the ones that haven't found this board yet, for example) still don't know shit about Halloween 8, haven't seen a trailer yet, don't even know Jamie Lee Curtis is in it, let alone dies in it!
Come on... from one Schmoe to another, PLEASE post spoilers every time you're discussing a major plot point, be it the ending to something as new as Signs or something as small as the fact that the killer isn't Jason in Friday The 13th Part V.
The whole enjoyment of horror films is that they provide a fantasy setting that isn't always run-of-the mill, you don't know what's going to happen next. It could be anything. Now when I see Halloween 8 and seeLaurie die, I'll think "so that's how it looked" instead of "HOLY SHIT!!" A reduced reaction, and therefore a reduced opinion of the film, leading to more Halloween 8 bashers.
We've already spoiled Sleepaway Camp enough for Schmoes who haven't seen it yet by merely hinting that it has a disturbing ending. Without even spoiling what it is you're spoiling the movie's gimmick.
I'm going to post this on every horror board on behalf of every Schmoe, particulary non-US schmoes who haven't seen some films yet. I don't remember many US Schmoes bitching about getting Dog Soldiers spoiled for them.
Okay, rant over... sorry about that.
Moderator, close this if you feel that you must, but I believe it to be very important.
Thank you
