OLIVIA HUSSEY
1. Jess Bradford in BLACK CHRISTMAS
2. Norma Bates in PSYCHO IV: THE BEGINNING
3. Audra Phillips Denbrough in Stephen King’s “IT”
Whether playing sweet (but not so innocent) heroines (BLACK CHRISTMAS), or screeching, unstable harpies (PSYCHO IV and IT)...one can't ignore Liv's contribution to the horror genre. Hussey's Jess character in BLACK CHRISTMAS was one of the few females (especially for the time) featured in a horror film who contemplated an abortion, making her a more complex heroine than many of her fellow Scream Queens. As Norma Bates in PSYCHO IV, and as Dennis Christopher's unstable wife Audra in IT (she was directed by Mick Garris in both films), she proved that she can play obsessive and emotionally overwrought women as well. Although these are the only three horror films I've seen her in, her contribution to the genre is solid. Plus, she's pushing middle-age at 50, and still looks great!
