SIGNS, allthough a very well acted and very creepy movie it's to sentimental at the wrong parts it's not frightening as some would say. But thats not to say it's a bad movie it's not just VERY! overrated

Without a doubt this past year: The Others and Jeepers Creepers(both were highly over-rated). Scary Movie was extreamly overrated(I maybe laughed once).
The Exorcist didn't really scare me but I did think it was a good movie.
I'll even go alltime and say Psycho(I thought The Birds was so much better)

I just think the movies are super boring, and the overall cheese factor of Halloween 3 makes me love it.

Half of the friday the 13th movies have not been very good (1,2,3,4,8) and scary movie are not really good, amusing but if your looking for a good 90s spoof go rent austin powers(not horror but good) and clueless was sorta overated. and the goonies.

I liked Jeepers Creepers, but I dunno if I would call it overrated. It wasn't great nor entirely bad. Just pretty good for a campy flick. Most people I know never saw it anyway.

Joy Ride is a good movie. Underrated indeed. Never given a true chance.

I'm sorry but I just think sci-fi sucks so much, only decent movie I've seen that was taking place in space was Jason X.

What is all the fuzz about this, it's plain rubbish, although the 3rd one (the biggest box office hit aswell) was quite amusing.

SCREAM
Totally overrated, I love slashers but this is just pathetic.

LORD OF THE RINGS
I Do NOT want more fantasy movies going on the cinemas (with exception for Alice which I am longing for)

AMERICAN PSYCHO
Pathetic serialkiller flick! I LOOOVED the sequel though.

THE HAUNTING
Anything that is PG-13 should be banned.

This ain't over rated but it just generally sucks, I think this is one of the worst movies I've ever seen.

Hey, Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Rings was a GOOD movie. I don't like fantasy movies much (except Willow and similar), but I actually liked LOTR. It was better than I expected. Depressing, too.

Yes, Harry Potter can SO eat my toes. I thought the movie looked cheaply made.

Geez, some of you people... I just don't see it. I know... opinions... everyone has a right to their own... yadda yadda yadda.

Most of the films discussed on here are not overated. Instead they are overplayed and over-discussed. Just because we don't like a film doesn't make it overated. There are probably tons of very solid films I don't like, but I won't say they are overated. People must like them for a reason. The world doesn't stop and start with my opinion.

Many of the films mentioned here as being overated were technically proficient, ground-breaking style-wise, or just flat out scary.

There is a reason that they are the best known horror films.

They are the best.

BTW, The Evil Dead ROCKS.

Requiem For A Dream is grossly overrated. It's overcliched and derivative as well as filled with characters you can hardly sympathize with. I've never read anything but Hubert Selby Jr. but I'm under the impression that his prose is very much like I described above.

Yes! i despise the alien movies too, same with the scream movies, and other then EVIL DEAD 2, i dont see whats so great about that series, sorry i just dont. i havent seen the exciorst and i dont plan on it either, and both blair witch movies suck major asscock.
