My favorite is at the begining of dawn of the dead where the crazed fat guy breaks down a door in the apartment building fulll of zombies and blows this guys head apart.It's very quick but very affective.

for decapitaion, The Omen, the plate of glass cutting the guy's head off. amazes me every time.(i think it was the first omen, i'm not positive. havent seen em in a while)

for head explosion, yeah that one in dawn rules. the only other cool one i can thing of was carlos in freddy's dead right now, i have more but just cant think of em.

The best decapitation i've ever seen was in Halloween 8, when michael walked out and killed that dumb blonde with one quick slice of his knife!!!

In Re-Animator, when Herbert West smacks Dr. Hill in the back of the head with a shovel and then chops his head off.
"Wesssssst."
"Yes, it's Herbert West. What are you thinking? How do you feel?"
"Yyyoooouuuuuuuuuuuu..."
"You."
"....Baaassstarrrrrrrrrd!"

Also when Ash chops Linda's head off with the shovel, and Henrietta's head with the chainsaw in Evil Dead II.

The head decapitation in Halloween: Resurrection was too unrealistic and lame imo, a head wouldn't just come off like that.

The Curse of Michael Myers on the other hand had a very intense head explosion when the Shape electrocutes John Strode in the basement.

Best Decapitations: Great decaps in Faust, the decap in day of the dead where the head still screams, the guy getting his head twisted off in Halloween 6, the guy getting a hand punched through his head then ripped off in Demon Knight, Decaps in Ghosts of Mars, decap from Teenage Caveman, priest in John Carpenter's Vampires, Wishmaster, From Dusk Till Dawn 2 with the shard of glass, too many to count.

Exploding heads: From Dusk Till Dawn, From Dusk Till Dawn 3, Scanners, Halloween 6, Forsaken, Dawn of the Dead, Species 2, Child's Play 2, and many more.

a couple of my favs would be...

the asshole guy in PROM NIGHT , his head rolled onto the runway for all those at the prom to see...

Then there is the SLUMBER PARTY MASSACRE.... and the guys head is just sitting there waiting for the girl to come back to the car so she can knock it off..

I guess this is a full body explosion but in Lifeforce newly made Vampires have to feed on life energy or they die. There is a scene where a new Vampire is unable to feed and it explodes. Very Nice!

The girl having her head blasted in the great and gorgonzolesque Chopping.
