GUILLERMO DEL TORO
1. THE DEVIL’S BACKBONE (2001) A
2. CRONOS (1992) B+
3. MIMIC (1997) B+
4. BLADE II: BLOODHUNT (2002) B+
Along with his Spanish compadre Alejandro Amenabar (THE OTHERS), Del Toro has proven himself to be the horror director to watch, as well as the wave of the future in this underrated genre.
Can’t wait for his 2003 release HELLBOY, starring Ron Perlman (BLADE II). The story centers around black magic and the Nazis during the last days of World War II!

Yeah, I've been a fan of Del Toro ever since CRONOS.
Still gotta get me that DEVIL'S BACKBONE DVD though.

I'm behind. I've only seen Mimic and The Devil's Backbone. Devil is easily superior, but only because Del Toro had creative freedom. If he had more sovereignty with Mimic, it would have been just as exceptional. But even with Dimension's meddling, it still turned out to be a solid monster movie. Cronos is on my chopping list, and while the original didn’t necessarily floor me, I'll be renting Blade II in a few months.
The Devil's Backbone-5/5
Mimic-3.5/5

I have read that normaly the end of Mimic was way more somber, the kid prefers the insects and the insects win the war.
I would say Blade 2, god this film kicks major ass but Spiderman was superior.

Cronos - 4.5/5
Mimic - 4/5
Blade II - 3.5/5
Devil's Backbone - 5/5
Del Toro is a Director to watch. He has barely put a foot wrong thus far and i'm eager to see what he does next (Hellboy?).

Tough call. But for it's beauty and grace aside from it's amazing ability to send chills down my spine, I am going with Devil's Backbone.
But for action, my second place choice is Blade 2.
