The one in sleepy hollow got me, jus' cuz even tho' the film was violent it was all so cartoonish, and while they didn't show it, you just didn't really expect it to happen.

The Grady Girls are the scariest. Gage is the saddest, and most shocking.

What the hell? You don't even see half of those kids killed you just know they are dead but you do not see it jeez. What about Beware Children At Play?( You see a kid with a gun in his mouth and the back of his head blow off and other graphic shit) Or that kid who got his head ran over in The Toxic Avenger??? http://www.joblo.com/ubb/tongue.gif

The most shocking has to be Gage in "Pet Sematary".
*Spolier*
That was so sad. He was running after the kite, then that big semi-truck just nails the poor little guy. Then his bloody shoes rolls a couple of times. It was pretty shocking, and sad at the same time. But the best part is when he comes back to life and kills the old guy and his own mother! http://www.joblo.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Well Cy,would you kiss your wife after she came back to life? I mean,if my husband just died, and I saw him back to life,(Even if he's gross and such) I would start to make out with him, because that could be the only chance I'll ever get to kiss him again! Hahaha!

A lot of children's death scenes are done in cut-away shots (as they should be, IMO), but to refer to the original list you don't even see the Grady girls die. You just see their bodies in the hallway.
***** SPOILER WARNING *****
My saddest child death moment had to be in The Changeling, when that poor boy is pulled under the water in the tub by his own father. Now that was cruel, and it brought a lump to my throat.

Antonio kinda mentioned the mass murder in Halloween 3, but what about the boy being killed in it?
That is the freakiest death I've seen in a long time, and that music in the background didn't help matters either. I didn't think it was possible, but that Silver Shamrock music got pretty scary.

FYI...the Grady girl murders made my list because the crime is explained in detail by the ghost of their father Grady, and when Danny catches a glimpse of them in that hallway, he briefly "sees" their murdered corpses.

What's sad??? They died to become zombies didn't they?? Check at the look on Peter's face when he kills those kids. He is torn, reluctant to shoot the flesh hungry children. It IS sad when he realises that there is no hope for them and he must cut them down.
Maybe i just got too absorbed in the film..... or maybe you're just heartless Parilese??

The saddest death of a child in a horror film I can think of is the drowning of the little girl in the opening of DON'T LOOK NOW. You never get a chance to know her, but the slo-mo recovery of her body by her father is heart rending, and the misery and loss of her parents is palpable throughout the rest of the films running time. Gage's death in PET SEMATARY, in particular his father's reaction, is horrible in much the same way, but the crassness of the rest of the film detracts from the overall effect, IMO.
I agree that the most shocking death of a child is featured in ASSAULT ON PRECINCT 13; I get the feeling a lot of folks here haven't seen this, or it would've been brought up in just about everyone's post...Truly unpredictable, and completely merciless. Once upon a time, Johnny had balls of steel...

I think most any child death is pretty damn shocking, and usually puts me in a bad mood all day. That scene in SLEEPY HOLLOW really bothered me. Sure, we didn't see the murder, but we did later see the Horseman carrying both heads in silhoutte, and image that made me physically ill.

Nobody's mentioned all the children killed by the title creatures in PIRAHNA, or all the children that turn into killers in THE CHILDREN and are killed in the end. Also, the little kid that is killed in GRIZZLY, that one did shock me. Just like in Jaws, the enormous grizzly bear grabs a little boy of about six years of age who was calmly playing in his backyard and despite his mother's attempt to save him, the little kid was brutally mauled by the bear. Horrible stuff.

Again Grizzly! When I saw that as a little kid, that scared the shit out of me! It really put the one in Jaws to shame. I mean U aren't expecting it to be there and it just pops up and grabs the kid, then drops him and he's lost a leg! That got me good.

Brook Shield killed in Alice Sweet Alice, a great slasher that has style and atmosphere.
The little kids killed with an axe in Sleepaway Camp (actually we don't see them being killed with an axe but it is intended)
I was a bit surprised to see that two kids die in Mimic (Del Toro) because it was a mainstream movie.

This is a clear cut example of one of the reasons why I wish the Return of the Living dead series didn't exist. While this was an obvious slip of the typing finger by an extreme vintage horror fan, for other casual fans it is not. They overstereotype and don't want to watch good zombie classics like Dawn because they say they "don't want to watch zombies going "BRAINNNS!" and eating peoples brains who become zombies, when the only way to destroy a zombie is supposedly by shooting it in the head. Thats so stupid I won't even waste my time on it!"
As for the topic:

Whatever? Here are some characters that have yet to be mentioned.
"Cry of the Banshee"
The brother and sister. Just nauseating. Especially the boy's death.
"Frankenstein"
Little Eva's. Just sad.
"Fright Night"
"Evil Ed's" Just too painful to think about.
"Lair of the White Worm
Kevin, the boy scout in the film. Funny, but scary as well.
"Vampire Circus"
The two boys. Just sad, as well.

I don't think anyone mentioned the retarded kid who got castrated in Candyman. That was fucking BRUTAL and also it scared the shit out of me. (SPOILER) For the one who asked what happened to the kid in the book IT, Pennywise rips his arm off. That entire book is brutal. But Candyman's castration was THE worst; the kid is screaming and sobbing and all bloody.

The character was George, or as Bill said it 'G-g-g-georgie'.

I was also kinda shocked that they went there with the midwife's little boy (or implied it, at least) in Sleepy Hollow.

Most of mine are from Stephen King movies...
Gage from "Pet Semetary", my wife still cries every time she watches that scene. And it's even worse when he comes back, could you imagine having to kill your own child? Even if he is already "dead". I would immediately kill myself afterwards.
The Grady girls from "The Shining", you don't see them get killed but the flashes of their mangled, twisted bodies in the hallway is more than sufficient.
Joseph from "Children of the Corn" when he's trying to escape town through the corn to get help and Malachai cuts his throat. The choking sounds and blood dripping is really disturbing, plus that kid is only like 10 or 11.
The unidentified infant baby being "fed" to Dracula's brides in "Bram Stoker's Dracula". I mean that is just morbid.

Gage in Pet Sematary was indeed sad, poor little dude, he just wanted to fly his kite and he gets mowed down by a fucking semi. The little kid in Jaws (Alex Kitner) always got to me, imagine being pulled under the water by a gigantic shark and the last thing you saw before you died was those black lifeless eyes, a cloud of your own blood, and a huge mouth of razor sharp teeth. Not a way I would want to go out personally. I found that kid in The Blob death to being completely acceptable, that little shit grated my last nerves, so I was ever so pleased when he became "blob food," was I shocked when The Blob ate his ass, yes, but was I fucking glad, you bet your ass I was.:D

The kid being run over by the steamroller is one of my all-time favorite kills of the 80s (at least of the horror films I got to see). I must have rewound that about 100 times to see it again. An absolute beaut.

I'm gonna have to go with the baby that Dracula hands to his brides in "Bram Stoker's Dracula". I found it quite disturbing. The actual feeding occurs off screen, which IMO lends more weight to the scene. Just imagining what those women are doing to the child is far more terrifying than anything Coppola could have actually shown us. And Drac's laughter toward Harker's reaction to this horrifying turn of events has to be the most evil shit I've ever heard!
