Perhaps your questions would best be answered at this link (http://www.joblo.com/ubb/Forum2/HTML/001996.html).

The fourth film, I can tell you, will be set in the 50s though.....Not too sure about his drinking from The Grail.

thanks ak but my questions are not answered on that link.everyone is ignoring the fact that indiana jones and his father both drank from the grail so they are both going to live for hundreds of years as long as they dont get murdered.am i making sense.they can be killed but if they lived a normal life they could live for hundreds of years.look at the poor bugger that stayed with the cups he was for hundreds of years old

This has been discussed before...If you drink from the cup...AND don't cross the seal you will continue to live. That was the price of immortality. When they tried to cross the seal with the grail, that's when the ground opened up and swalled it.

They left...they are not immortal.

CORRECTOMONDO!

Alot of people (including myself) thought this too, but the price of immortality is not to leave past the seal.

And of course the seal is currently under a million stones that basically make shit of the place.

then why did everyone want to drink from the cup,so they could live forever but only in that cave.whats the point of that, not being allowed to leave and enjoy eternal life.

or was it if they had left the cup there and left then they would have been immortal

stevenscotland,

I don't think that people knew about the seal until they got there. They originaly thought that if they drink once, they live forever and they can go, but what they found out when they got there is that the price of imortality is that you can't go pass the seal and live forever.

your second theory is also questions one of the rules of imortality to the film, i think you have to constantly drink from the grail to be imortal, so once you cross the seal (even if the grail is still inside) you become mortal again, though the grail did have the power to heal (alas Dr. Henry Jones) it would'nt keep the power of immortality.

Here's the answer of an Indy specialist (me):

You can cross the seal. The Grail, though, can not. The cave is the home of the Grail, it cannot leave it, that's what the knight tells Indy. But Steven Scotland, did you realize the knight is OLD too, although nor he or the Grail left the cave? How do you explain that?
Well, it's a tricky one but the novelization explains it. See, the knight stopped drinking from the Grail for a year, and so his aging took over again. So to have eternal life, there's two conditions to respect: 1°) The Grail cannot cross the seal in the cave, 2°) You have to drink from the Grail regularly, or its effects will slowly disappear.

Hope that helped.

And that is why Indy and Jones Sr. do NOT have eternal life. http://www.joblo.com/ubb/smile.gif
