RIGOR MORTIS - Self Titled

A great metal band from '88; with song titles like re-animator, demons, wizard of gore and slow death, you know where there influences come from. And boy, those lyrics:
'with 5 easy slices, your in 6 lovely pieces, bodily desmemberment, as passion increases' gotta love 'em!

Slayer, Possessed, Death, Rigor Mortis, Bathory, Hellhammer, Cryptic Slaughter, D.R.I., Sodom, early Metallica and early Sepulture, Iron Maiden, Pestilence, Sarcofago, Mercyful Fate, Death Strike, Celtic Frost, Napalm Death, Carcass, Repulsion, Skinny Puppy, Godflesh, Terrorizer, Nuclear Assault, Prong, Voivod

Can you tell I'm a metal fan?

GWAR have only released Hell-O in the 80's... and this album is absolute garbage.

Most of the 80's horror bands suck, but I love THE MISFITS and SLAYER. If OZZY OSBOURNE counts then I put himin, even though he is a solo artist and SABBATH is from the 70's.

I know the guys from Impaler. They're local schmoes from around here and lemme tell ya...they're lookin' a little wrinkled.

My faves are:

SLAYER
THE MISFITS
GWAR
CANNIBAL CORPSE
SAMHAIN

I can name more, but I'm not really fans of 'em, like VENOM, VOIVOD, etc. Not to slight their contributions to music; they're just not my style.

I forgot Stormtroopers of Death (SOD)- brutally heavy and humorous, they wrote a song about Freddy and were somehow linked to Robert Englund, he used to hang out with them or something

Well I'm only speaking from a stage show/theme standpoint but among the best horror themed stage shows I saw in the 80's were:

Ozzy Osbourne's Diary of a Madman tour ( Had a HUGE gothic castle set up and they hung a midget during the show...and Ozzy wore this really cool red medevial armour type outfit..)

Ronnie James Dio Last in Line Tour ( Had many gothic stage settings, and in the middle ,the show stopper of show stoppers, he and two huge (at least 12 feet) knights fought this HUGE fire-breathing mechanical dragon...friggin incredible...)

Judas Priest Screaming for Vengance tour (They had a HUGE mockup of that mechanical flying beast thats on the cover of the album)

And of course the music in all cases goes well with the horror stage themes..

Honorable mention: I saw Judas Priest also on their Point of Entry tour, and Iron Maiden ,with their ORIGINAL lead singer was the opening act, and in the middle of the show they had 4 or 5 guys come out in full Eddie makeup and they had these neat handheld fog machines that blew at least 20' of smoke like a jet right out into the audience...that was neat)
