I was just over at AICN and I read a big review of the screenplay for a new live action Pan film. I am very excited. The book was amazing and is one of my favorites of all time. From what I have read, this film will stay true to the book more than Hook did. I really hope all the scenes will have amazing sets and special effects. The casting of Jason Isaacs as Captain James Hook and Wendy's father. He is really a great actor and his face just screams "EVIL PRICK!!". He might be the msot hated man in the country after this and his role as Lucius Malfoy in the second Harry Potter film. As for the casting of the other leads I think Elijah Wood would make a good Peter. He has a lot of charm, can do action scenes, and crafted a great performance as another beloved literary character, Frodo Baggins. I see Daniel Radcliffe, the boy who plays Harry Potter, as John. He resembles my mental image of John, but he might be to busy with the third Harry Potter film. Emma Thompson would be good as Wendy's mother. Michael should be played by an unknown as should Wendy. I cannot wait to see this unfold on a huge multiplex screen. If done right, it will be a magical time at a theatre. What do you guys think about this?

Elijah Wood as Peter Pan...now that's one freaking good idea. I can see that one already.
Wouldn't Elijah Wood be too old to play Pan? Although, saying that he does look a little younger than he actually is, which is probably why I think his performance as Frodo worked so much more effectively.
As for the film? Haven't read a thing about it, but I've always wanted a really, really great telling of one of the most magical tales ever told. Infact, I've always wanted a "kids" film that has a dark edge to it, and Peter Pan definitely comes under this category.
Spielberg sort of captured a certain magic and darkness with Hook, especially in the opening scenes of the film, in Wendy's house.
In the end, it's not a film that's high on my priorities at the moment in terms of what I'd like to see, but once the talent is announced (yes, that includes the director), I shall make a judgement then.

Ak, the director is P.J Hogan of Muriel's Wedding and My Best Friend's Wedding.

Ditto. I think he'd be very good for the part.
