Signs is an actual good movie that doesn't really on an overdose of CGI chases and explosions. I like the way Shymalan(sp?) keeps the alien forces shrouded in mystery to keep the suspense up. Unlike the idiots known as Devlin and Emmerich who made a stupid alien movie and ruined Godzilla.

It's not really fair to compare the two films since they strive to be polar opposites, but at any rate, Signs is the better film. Will Smith is the bane of quality.

I also submit a vote for Independence Day, I couldn't buy into Signs are the problem with the film is it takes itself way too seriously imo. Where as ID:4 is just suppose to be a fun-thrill ride, and it definitely delivers that to the audience. Independence Day gets my vote because its more entertaining.

ID4, Sure It was dumb, But at least it wasn't slightly Pretentious imho.
I'm not much of a Shyamalan fan, His only other movie I have seen is the Sixth Sense Which I found to be overrated.

I loved ID4 back in '96 and was hooked then, and I am hooked on Signs now. Signs was full of suspense and kept me on the edge of my seat, whereas ID4 didn't, so I'm gonna have to go with Signs.
Signs: 9/10
ID4: 8/10

SIGNS, easy. That having been said, I thought it was a little full of itself. Still a good movie (the old fashioned Hitchcock suspense stuff still works beautifully, and the tension is definitely there); but a lot of the emotional stuff felt pretty contrived to me. You know, every single moment in a film doesn't have to be an emotional revelation for the characters, Mr. Shyamanalanahoohan. I guess a steady diet of Spielberg will do that to you, though...

Easy question. Signs hands down. It was so brillant the way the camerawork toyed with you. The newscasts added to the fear and it was like you were right there watching the TV with them. Awsome movie.

Looks like I'm in the minority by picking Independence Day. Signs was too slow for my taste. Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.
