~~Ellen Burstyn rocks my world. the fact that her big comeback role was in a horror movie made me truly proud to be a schmoe. http://www.joblo.com/ubb/smile.gif

~Donald pleasence in Creepers..
What can I say? I'm a recently converted Loomis fan!! The man just oozes coolness and adds, as the Arrow put it, "a touvh of class" to the movie.

Mr. and Mrs. Castavet from Rosemary's baby were amusing old codgers. Also the couple in American Gothic played by Rod Steiger and Yvonne DeCarlo were interesting.

Vincent Price - he was well into his autumn years when he started appearing in horror films.

William Hickey - played the original Toulon in Puppetmaster when he was in his 70's. (Most famous though for portraying Don Prizzi in "Prizzi's Honour" and starting a drama study group in New York that a lot of famous people attended.)

Anthony Hopkins - Hannibal Lecter himself. He's getting on a bit yet brings the ultimate gourmet serial killer to life.

Marlon Brando - in the remake of "Island of Dr. Moreau". Disappointing film, but great actor. (Even if does act a bit odd half the time.)

Max Von Sydow - Father Merrin, "The Exorcist". A superb performance from a master of any genre.

Although he was silver-haired, Leslie Nielsen was only 55 when he filmed PROM NIGHT. Hardly a geezer. He was the father of two teenagers, and even displayed a couple of smooth moves on the disco floor at the title event with daughter Jamie Lee Curtis. If ya think about it, he was younger then than Harrison Ford, Anthony Hopkins, Clint Eastwood and many other older-but-virile actors are now.

In the whole world of movies, not just horror, the three actors I respect most are Johnny Depp, Tom Hanks and Robert De Niro. In my opinion, they are the only three guys that deserve the hype and publicity they get (with the possibility of Pacino).

So for Johnny Depp's first role to have been in A Nightmare On Elm Street, starring alongside his bouffant hair that looked like he was wearing a Davy Crockett hat is damn sweet.

Carradine was about 77, Price was about 72, Cushing was about 69, and Lee was the youngster of the group at about 60, when they all appeared together in "House of Long Shadows."
