Outside Providence - 3/10.

Despite JoBlo's warning (which I hadn't read first), I went into this thinking, "A Farrelly Brothers Movie?" how awesome!! Wonder why I hadn't heard about it? And how come Miramax picked it up instead of Fox?

Well, all of these questions were answered after watching this movie. It's definately not a "Something About Mary" grossout movie, and really isn't that humorous (Miramax was clever putting that sticker on that reads "bonus grossout takes" - what grossouts? there are none) .. And it moves very slow without many surprises to be had. I guess this was the Farrelly attempt at a comedy-romance-drama, that just didn't work for me. I had a few brief laughs here and there, but the whole thing was just too sappy.

Other than getting to watch some recreational drug use, that one funny letter part, and some outlandishly funny acting from the principal, there's not much more to look forward to, unless you think Amy Smart is hot http://www.joblo.com/ubb/smile.gif And, hey, I do, so I guess she helped me through the rest of it.

But as for it being a really funny comedy, an elaborate drama, a sappy romance, or even just being original and fun, it failed on every count.. creating an unoriginal mediocre romance-drama-comedy that did not hold my interest that much.
