Brotherhood of the Wolf 7/10...
Brotherhood of the Wolf is a wild, very interesting movie that combines, horror, martial arts, and a costume drama. Since I saw this film over a month ago, my recollection of detail might be a bit off. But I remember really liking the beautiful Cinematography of the French Countryside...in fact the whole film is made xetremely well. I remember enjoying most of the performances especially , the main blonde haired dude and his romance with the young countess or whatever she was. Vincent Cassel as the scheming, decieving bad dude was also very good. The main problems I had with the film is it maybe overstays its welcome and runs a little long...and I wanted the beast to be more terrifying and clearer..I didn't completely buy the CGI on that. Anyway Brotherhood of the Wolves is a really interesting, entertaining film and worth seeing if you can.

Wow..this is one of the only negative reviews I've given. Anywho here goes nothing..
I wasn't all that impressed with this movie. Granted..the action sequences were VERY cool to watch, but there were so many different characters, I had a hard time knowing who was who. One thing I did like about the movie was the Indian. Quiet, yet strong, he really provided me with a reason to care for someone in the film. As for the lead, well, I really didn't care much about him. Yeah, he was solid in his role, but I just didn't feel any sort of connection. I guess I'm the type of person who likes a good movie with strong characters, I like to feel something for each and every one. Chances are, I will see this again, and maybe I'll up my review. 6/10.

Brotherhood of the Wolf fascinated me in that it combined several things from other movies into an action/suspense filled movie. I saw things from Jaws, American Werewolf in London, and basically any kickass martial arts movie. The Indian character especially rocked. Plus there's the fact that the attack scenes were perfectly edited (a la Jaws somewhat, now that I think about it). Slowing it down and speeding it up really worked to make the scene more suspenseful.
I do have to admit that the ending got a little confusing, but the final battle scene made up for it.
8/10
I really don't know whether I liked or disliked the movie...
I mainly saw it for the horror aspect of it, and it truly disappointed. For some reason I thought it was a werewolf flick and to my unpleasent suprise i found out it was a giant beastly Hedgehog instead of a wolf, and on top of that it was a CGI Hedgehog that looked terrible... there was barely any gore and it was as far away from scary as possible.
That said, I did enjoy the story of the movie and the great acting helped it a lot, but me not being good at French kind of made me mix up the characters in my mind (cause when I read the captions it's hard to tell who's saying what sometimes). The costumes were great too. The fight sequences were amazing and very well directed. One thing tho, bullet time is sooooo OVERUSED in this movie... Slow mo fighting - fine, girl being attacked by hedgehog in bullet time - fine, but when you get to people looking around a room in bullet time and a guy falling in a puddle in bullet time... you know you've went too far.
Also, the movie was very slow, which isn't necessarily bad, but with this particular movie it REALLY dragged at times. As the Arrow said in his review, it had too many fake "endings" and it just kept on going and going and going. Also, I don't think some magical poweder can revive people but....oh well. Also, I think it would have been cooler if they didn't raid the clan members of the Brotherhood in the end, I think it would've been cooler if they eliminated them based on suspection, and after they're all gone the hedgehog attacks stop as well. That way there would always be the benefit of the doubt - were they really the ones who controlled the beast or if it just a coinsidence?
One thing tho - this movie has the most BEAUTIFUL transition from scene to scene I've ever seen. When the camera glides up a woman's body past her bare breasts and then each of them turns into a snowy hill and the whole scene changes into an icy-scenery....it was awesome, it made my day.

BOTW was a stunning and moody gem of a film. I think the subtitles might have put off a certain percentage of the viewers because you had to have a pretty good level of reading comprehension to really follow the plot without losing the visual impact in the process. I think the "artsy" cinematic style may have been overdone a bit, but overall the result was a very well put together picture.
Obviously ILM was not consulted for the CGI creature effects but they were still quite passable and, I must admit, somewhat spooky. The opening scenes where the Beast was stalking and attacking its victim were almost unnerving - somewhat reminiscent of the original Jaws where you don't really see the creature but the victim is getting the stuffing chewed out of her.
Overall, I would highly recommend this movie as an excellent and stylish work.
8.5/10 seems fair for this one.

This film is not only excellent in its own views, but it also has a number of genres in it that make the film better. The ideas of the number of plots is outstanding and the length of the movie barely fits it all in. The graphics and special effects are outstanding. The scenes of everyone fighting are some of the best since foriegn films like "Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon" and "The Iron Monkey" (both of which were enjoyable). The director of this film must of had a great vision on what the world looked like in the 1760's. Frace never seemed to be more alive in this film. The actors who portrayed the hunters of the wolf like creature were probabaly picked because of their style and grace. The love and hatred of the characters was great. The wolf was the most livable character of all because you could see how vicious he was. All in all, i recommend this movie to people who dont mind blaring noise and alot of action.

Fucking incredible. The film defies being placed in a single genre...it transcends categories. It scores solidly on all themes it brings to the table: horror, thriller, martial arts, love story, et al.
The cinematography in the film is exquisite. The combinations of slow motion and zooms makes for a delectable viewing experience. The fight scenes are choreographed well and come off without a hitch. The humor is understated but works very well.
The beast itself is a bit of a CGI nightmare but the rest of the film makes up for that. In the end it carries on for a bit too long but the visual feast you are presented with makes it hard to notice.

*Spoilers warning*
In France, arround in the 1760s a strange creature is murdering some of the folfs of a little town.A man and his partner arrive to the country to try to kil this unknown monster.
Well on the goos side, this is a wonderfully made movie.Itīs always colorfull, the art direction is brilant and Itīs always good looking.Visual effects are good too.
On the other hand, this movieīs plot was week from the beginning and It runs too long. They should have made this an hour and 40 minutes fan action/horror movie and not an 2 hours + movie with a lot of drama and unnecesarie love scenes.
Acting is great, they are all good actors.Specially Monica B. whoīs a hottie. But the creature looked dumb and the CGI sucked.I was hoping to see a really cool monster like the one in Alien(10/10 or A+), but it turned out to be more like the one in Jeepers Creepers(7/10 or B).And an other thing: This movie is a lot like Sleepy Hollow(8/10 or A-).Some thing of the film are just the same.Like a strange thing killing the people from the town, a strange and clever good looking man that arrives the town to investigate and that he falls in love with the daughter of that important guy...But without the humor.
Brotherhood of the wolf started pretty good, but it got boring and boring until it ended. And itīs not a great end either. And the plot twists sucked too.A movie that could have been a fun enterteinment, but didnīt.A disappointment, īcause a movie canīt buy me only with some cool slow motion scenes.
It takes more than that. And the action scenes got redundant too.
Well, in a few words: A waste of time and a disappointment.

"Brotherhood of the Wolf" is a great film. I truly believe it should have gotten an oscar nod for it's direction and cinematography. The sets were stunning. My only problem was that it was a tad bit too long, especially between the times when they actually showed the creature. But the creature was well done, and the acting wasn't too shabby either. Mark Dacascos can move. It's suprising he isn't in the mainstream yet.(Although he will be in Cradle 2 tha Grave on friday.)
Well done, very underrated film.
RATING-7.5/10
Run time was too long, CGI was B.A.D (which took me out of the story..which was too long to begin with) Epic wannabe feel to it. Didnt mind the mixing of genres, but I didnt care for the execution of it all.

Cool action movie. With all the horrible action movies that have came out the last few years, this one stands out as fun and entertaining.
*spoiler* My only beef with the film is the weird angle a lot of these films take is that the brother(turns out to be the antagonist of the film) is obessed with the sister and wants to get it on with her. I thought I was watching another weird anime.
*end spoiler*
Anyways, go rent this movie. It's fun, exciting, and just plain bad ass.

Brotherhood of the Wolf was a totally innovative film. it's too bad it didn't get a larger audience upon its release in the U.S. The cinematography and action sequences are breathtaking and fun. The characters are all great and the script is good (the original french one). All in all i have to say that this was an enjoyable flick. Besides, you get to see Monica Belucci naked in it so thats worth seeing alone.
