I laughed, I cried, I cried laughing and I laughed. I can see how this movie could've originated. Dude watching a martial flick stoned, the film is playing on mute, dude makes up his own lines, dude decides to pitch the idea to a Studio, they go with it, Kung Pow is born. It is what it is and I found its childish humor hilarious. Some stuff doesn't work but most of it does. I do recommend you hit the bong before this one...it makes it even better.

Have you ever seen a movie that is SO fucking stupid, that its hard NOT to laugh at it? Have you ever found people dubbing over Asian voices, pretty darn hilarious? Or have you ever wanted to see a woman with one breast? Well, if you said YES to all of the above, then I think you should check yourself into KUNG POW! and have yourself a riot. Let me just say that in modern cinema, comedy is pretty subjective, meaning that not EVERYONE will find a certain brand of comedy hilarious. For example, lots of people found the movie RUSHMORE to be a riot, but some of my friends and I found it to be pretty boring, and un-funny. Now, take American Pie, or American Pie 2, and we can laugh at it all day. Well, this movie is definitely an ‘acquired taste’. I don’t think many people will enjoy it, and I don’t think many people were MEANT to enjoy it. Sure, this movie is pretty fucking stupid, I mean, you can’t walk into this movie taking it seriously. This is something pretty original here. Sure, Woody Allen had done it in 1966, but when was the last time you saw a movie dubbing over Asian cinema? It’s almost like watching Bob Sagat dub over some videos in AMERICA’S FUNNIEST HOME VIDEOS, except most of the lines in this film were funny. Granted, some of the scenes ran on a little too long, and some of the jokes were overplayed “the OOOWEEOOOWEOOO”.
But stupid or not, I can’t say that this movie DIDN’T make me laugh, cause I was pretty much giggling, or ON THE FLOOR for more than 75% percent of the film. Sure, some of the jokes or ‘funny scenes’ I ended up just sitting still and not laughing, like the Cow Fight scene, but can you honestly hold your laughs in while a baby rolls down a hill ignored – I think I laughed the hardest at this scene, people in the theater were looking at me. I’d like to congratulate Steve Oedekerk for having some huge balls to attempt this movie. It’s obvious he tried really hard; I mean he does everything in this movie; he does the dubbing for EVERY character (yes even the females). This is definitely an upgrade from directing Ace Venture 2: When Nature Calls. Like I said, this movie is an ‘acquired taste’ not everyone will like it, hell, 70% of the people I know wouldn’t like it, but me on the other hand, I just couldn’t help but laughed at most of the movie. I can definitely see myself getting this movie at a party, and either being stoned or drunk and laughing my ass off at this movie. OOOWEEEOOOWEEEOOOO

Dude. I went into this movie it would be absolutely retarded. But it was insanely hilarious. I was the only one the theatre laughing at some parts which scored me some dirty looks but I couldn't help it. I liked the vantriliquists and the part where the one guys like "Look, my finger, it points." My absolute favorite part I think is where the baby rolled down the hill. I agree that the computer stuff, the cow and the baby, were kinda dumb. But the random whale, I laughed forever on that.
Good movie guys. Good stuff.

This movie was funny off oand on. Some scenes were boring and carried on with no sense. That oweeoooooooooeeeee thing got dumb. The voices however were really funny and all done by the star, director, writer, producer steve oedecerk. He is pretty funny and as made some other funny movies like ace ventura 2 and nothing to lose. The other stuff in the movie like the cow shit are stupid and it felt longer then it was.
The only things that were funny, other then the voices, were the one liners and the one tited girl.
I give this movie a 6.5\10

this movie was very funny but very stupid... I had nothing to do a few sundays ago and it was raining and I already saw most of the good movies out, and me and my friend were in the mood for a funny movie, and this delivered. I was suprisied how many times I laughed (a lot!) Personally I think they show the least funny parts in the trailer, the really funny ones are the ones with this miss piggy talking woman who makes really random noises, yeah it was really dumb, but I wanted a funny movie and I got it..... 8/10

The trailers for this movie don't do it justice. I watched it for lack of anything better to do, figuring it to be lame, and was pleasantly surprised. It was stupid, granted, but I was crying all through this flick. The trick for me was, I watched it with a friend who enjoys the same silly, juvenille, toilet humor that I do and we just fed off each other. The "oooweeeoooweeeoo" had me howling. I looked forward to it all throughout. Stupid stuff like the "Neosporin" song just got to me. Sure, there are some duds but I mostly giggled right through them from a previous gag. Again, with the right frame of mind (chemically imposed if need be) and a homey to laugh with, this is worth seeing.

Okay, I love this site and I have nothing but respect for JoBlo and his reviews. For the most part, they are right on. But not this one. Well, like Janes Addiction once said, everyone has their own opinion. For me, this is the worse comedy ever. Worse than Superstar. Worse than Beverly Hills Ninja. My girlfriend and I walked out an hour into the film, after putting up with it just for the cow fight scene. What a waste of time! The scene sucked and the movie was sick and unfunny. That opening scene with the baby rolling down the hill was just bad. But there was one scene with laughs. The gopherchucks scene was funny, but that was it. Stay away!
P.S.: I hope the fact that I walked out doesn't disqualify me from posting this review. From what I understand, we only missed about 15 minutes.

I will say this it takes a certian type of humor to really get into this one, but as for me I would say it was pretty freakin funny. If you get into Monty Python, Rushmore, or Bottlerocket I think you might want to check this out. I am not saying it is the same as those movies, but if you like those you might like it. Anyway I loved the baby rolling down the hill. The movie is in a relm of its own.
Overall Rating from me 7/10

Perhaps the most idiotic film ever made. I mean, this shit makes Adam Sandler look classy. I can enjoy dumb humor (Jay and Silent Bob Strikes back), but this...this...urgh.
The kung fu baby was just sad and stupid. The effect was horrible, the scene worthless. The gopher chucks were not funny. That thing ''tongue'y'', or whatever the fuck that thing was, is easily in the running for least funniest thing of all time; Or, in other words, It was about as funny as seeing a pregnant women immolated in a grease fire.
The overdubbed voices were all so redundant, obvious, and fucking ANNOYING that my ears began to bleed moments into the film (I can see it now, "These guys are tough Karate masters, so giving them effeminate voices in an attempt to make them sexually ambiguous, yet clearly insinuating homosexuality, will be hilarious!" What a creative crutch...). Before this flick, I never knew that a surplus of egregiously bad gay jokes is all it takes to get a film made; or that, yes, amazingly untalented people can miraculously take a joke that's funny for about 2 minutes and stretch it out to feature length.
The woman with the one boob was stupid and repulsive. The fight with the cow...another sad, pathetic scene with a hideous effect. I think Matrix parodies have outlived their usefulness; that the makers of this film would resort to one after it's been done to death by superior films only shows how dry the well of creativity was with this one.
This film is currently tied for worst I have ever seen, and the only film to have the dubious distinction of being the only movie I could not stand to finish watching. There is not one inspired or semi-clever moment in this entire piece of tripe. Avoid like the plague.

Kung Pow - 6/10

One of these days I'm gonna give up on childish comedies like South Park, Tomcats, and Ace Ventura, but until then, I guess I'll be taking a shot at movies like this. This is yet another very sad, very obvious movie that made me roll with laughter a few times and at least smirk up a bit most of the time. Aside from some of the key lame-ass jokes such as a baby rollin down a hill and the tonguey-thing (what the hell??), I managed to chuckle.
Think of Trey Parker and Matt Stone doing voice-overs for a chinese movie, and you will get an idea of why I was laughing so much. The chinese woman voice had me going pretty good, as well as the gaywad-voice for the evil dr. pain... terribly funny voice-overs were the key to this film. The cow fight scene was mighty histerical, too. I also got a kick out of the incredibly rediculous fight scenes - a baby taking out a whole league of kung-fu guys, a single punch bursting out into an explosion (c'mon don't ya stop and think how crazy a REAL kung-fu movie is?). It was all just too much..
Unfortunately, not too much of the rest is that memorable. The one-tittie chick had me lookin twice, but didn't me get passed a little grin, and the oooweeeooooweeeoooo was used way too much, and after a while everything going on became a broken record. But, chalk this up to the too-dumb-to-keep-from-laughing roster. Not too shabby!

Kung-Pow was a dumb, cheesy, hellacool movie!
Well, not as cool as funny.
The premise of the film is pretty cool. Finding an old Martial Arts flick and adding Oedekerk in it...cool!
Funny Parts: The Lion saying "This Is CNN"
"Neo- ( Ba ba ) Sporin!
Everyone's right...it does take a certain level of ( im )maturity to enjoy a dumb movie like this. But, if you can put your brain in your pocket before you watch it ( but please put it back when you're done ) you'll thoroughly enjoy this flick!

I liked the movie, I mean, I really liked the movie. I rented it just to see a dumb movie, and came out seeing a great movie.
I watched it three times in one week and still havn't hated it
I loved how it was all dubbed...betty did get on my nerves once on awhile, and some of the scenes just were awful(like the one where every-one was dead, and then alive again) but there were some scenes that I was just dying laughing at...like the part where he is screaming and then a blood vessel burst...that was great..I would reccomend this movie to people who like to just watch dumb movies, but to people who will critique it for a smart movie(like most peopel I know) I wouldn't even tell them about it
I'd give Kung Pow a 8/10

Very Funny up until the ridiculous, stupid and NOT funny CGI Cow fighting scene. From then on things just got really tiring, and I found my self yawning - not laughing.
I really loved the part were the evil guy is letting his servants wack him with sticks all over the place, and one man constantly wacks him in the nuts. hehe
Also the scene where they introduce that girl who appears all quite, and then she just strips her top off to reveal her bra very quickly. hehe
This movie is really funny, and entertaing for the first 30 minutes, but I guess its the over the top CGI, many dry, repeated jokes that ruins this movie for me.
If I was compiling a list for stupidest concept movie of the year, this would be number 1. Unless you are so into old shitty martial arts flicks, the ENTIRE JOKE of this guy splicing himself into a few crappy 70's kung fu films will be TOTALLY LOST on you. I gave a chuckle ONCE during the cow fight, and once when I saw that tongue thingy for the first time. The "purposeful" in joke of bad dubbing?..... after the first 20 minutes, it went from "cute" to fucking tedious. Steve Odekerk is a pretty funny and creative guy... but NOT with this turd. Scary Movie 2 is TWICE as funny as Kung Pow. -1/10

Anyone remember WHAT'S UP, TIGER LILY?, the debut feature of one Woody Allen, who had the "hillarious" idea of taking a Japanese spy adventure and dub it so it becomes a ridiculous piece much in the same vain of KUNG POW: ENTER THE FIST?
Some critics liked it, with Leonard Maltin calling it "one long funny joke". Well, it was too long and boring for me. And that's the same problem of KUNG POW. The initial premise is actually fun and who saw Steve Oedekerk's THUMB shorts, knows the guy can be funny... for about five minutes. That's also the amount of fun time he could get out of his weak directorial effort ACE VENTURE: WHEN NATURE CALLS.
What I liked about KUNG POW:
Oedekerk's nutty performance and his willingness to try anything, absolutely ANYTHING to make us laugh
What I didn't like it:
Almost none of it's efforts worked... too bad.

this movie was the stupiest, lamest piece of shit i ever sat through. I fell into a deep sleep after 40 minutes, drooling like a baby. Completely unfunny and idiotic. I want my money and the 2 hours of my life that i wasted back.

Pure great laughs is what I got from this movie. It had lots of funny scenes and some good, funny, halarious lines. The beggining is outrageous and it gets better and better and better as the movie goes on. The mouths and those freaky little voices were awesome. Ling was a bit annoying but what can WEOWEOWEOWEO do? Hahaha. Well I just had lots of fun and multiple laughs watching this movie and I think that there must be one part that everyone liked (not including the credits smart asses, or the previews again smart asses). Go rent it, watch it, laugh at it anyway you can. Enter the fist and watch...... KUNG POW! 8/10
Although for the most part, you all said this movie was dam funny, I beg to differ. Not to be negative, but all I could find throughout the whole picture was negative aspects. It was way past dumb and I hated it. It was nothing more than a cheap rip off of Leslie Neilson movies like the "Naked Guns" or "Airplane." Waste of my money and of my time.

Just to avoid misinterpretation, you will absolutely loathe this movie unless you have precisely the right level of humour. Being somebody who laughs at quite a lot, I was lucky to find most of this movie a gas - but I can fully see why somebody would think it the unfunniest thing since... well, ever.
It's quite a great effort from Steve Oedekerk to do so much of the movie, though - he's all the voice stars, the main star and the director. Considering martial arts movies haven't had an all-out spoof before, this comes as quite a surprise. The whole technology of sticking Steve into an old movie is a remarkable one (you'll think it's all new footage shot with a crappy camera... it's that beleivable) and that alone has to be appreciated. Some will say it's a shockingly good technology, perhaps wasted on a dumb movie. And just to answer the question, yes it's dumb.
Most of the humour is from Oedekerk's silly voices (particularly the sneering baddie, "Master Pain"... or "Betty"). If you and your chums are drunk enough, or just like really dumb humour, then you'll likely be happily sneering at eachother "Nya, my name is betty, nya" for the best part of a week. It's stupid, but infectiously so.
It does not, however, survive multiple viewings. The karate-cow scene is gloriously pointless, often unfunnily so, and the joke wears off almost instantly. As does most of it.
Still, you have to hand it Oedekerk for turning a cheesy old movie into a cheesy new one. It's great idiot-fodder, and I (a self confessed idiot with most at least "different" comedies) enjoyed it. Watch it once, make up your mind, and either way think again about going back. It's a see-it-once movie, thick as shit and twice as nutty. Depends if you'd enjoy that. 5/10
Kung Pow was teh funniest movie ive seen in a long time, jsut the small stupid shit was the stuff that made me laugh.
some parts where boring and i was pissed off you never got to see the chicks tits but you get that
i actually didnt watch this movie til it went ot weekly at the video store because it looked lame but after being bored of the usual same old shit i borowed it out and i was really suprised
one of the funniest parts was where at teh start there is a line of guys and they go open your mouth and it keeps zooming in on the 2 charicters and then it shows a chick and then it shows steve in a funny position i think thats the ledgendary stuff that make the move really.
i give it a 8.5/10
mainly coz some shit was gay like the whole cow thing that got gay after like 1 minute it went for too long and the bit with the french aliens i htink that was orign but still funny movie

This movie is an instant classic. It at times is one of the funniest movies I have ever seen. While not constantly funny it has moments of pure comedic timing. The serious situations of the old footage dubbed into english is fantastic. The dubbing of thedog barking, Master Tang, Betty, and Ling is hilarious.
With that said the editor deserves a kick in the ass. The evil council being French aliens was one weak point of the movie. As well as the cow and the fighting baby. I did however think the baby rolling down the hill was amusing because it was the same footage over and over and the woman picking him up and rolling him down the hill was unexpected. The one-boobed chick wasn't funny enough to stand on its own. Nor was the mooshoofasa. And for those of you who didn't notice the running scene just before the tiny net was a total Monty Python and the Holy Grail rip off with the scene repeating itself.
But the funny parts out-weighed the less-than-funny parts of the movie. Betty's conversation about pizza and scoping chicks was great. As was his joke about the owl and bungee cord. Master Tang kept it lively. It is a great movie for you and your drinking buddies. You might find yourself quoting it if you're not careful. "Take a close look. Cause I rule baby!" "And who do you rule the large dark-nipple people?"
And one more thing. The movie with the credits is just under an hour and a half. So unless you tried to watch it twice and quit you didn't waste 2 hours of your life. I watched it 6 times in one day. Wow... that was sad and horrifiying...but i still watch and enjoy it even today.

What? I never thought so many people would have liked this movie! I don't think a movie has made me laugh so hard. The main premise spining around sheap dubbing over an old movie plus the (very well done) Steve Oederkerk add on in the movie are just hilarious. While all charatcers have a unique personality through the hilarity of the situations and all of them have a little thing that separates them from the rest (uuuiiiuuii!!). Steve Oederkerk can turn anything into the dumbest, dumbest humor you can think of, and I am one who appreciates it. Please do Kung Pow 2, 3, 4, 5 and 8 if you want to.
9/10. Only because the cheap overused Matrix thing. This is definetly my favorite of the genre...and ive seen them all.

This is probably the funniest movie I have ever seen. I thought the only bad part was the cow but Betty more then made up for it He has some extremely funny lines("a tiny net is a death sentence its a net and its tiny", and I do like the ladies you know, and The tiger birdie part is hilarious as is when he makes the bird call) The part that makes me laugh the hardest are the parts at the beginning when he punches the hole through the guys stomach and what the narrator says about it and the gopher chucks just for the noise they make as their swung around, and when the guy tries to disappear with the smoke bomb. "This is CNN C N N
C N N"
10/10 Its constantly funny and ive watched it like nine times and still laugh as hard as the first time i seen it

The first time i saw this bad boy, i was cracking my ass up! The opening sequence was funny,{the "baby on the hill sequence was pretty damn funny} then it had more stuff that was hilarious{tcamera zoom thing was classic!}. Although its replay value isnt as good, its still a goofy fun comedy thats worth renting at least once

I agree with JoBlo almost completely on this one, so I'll keep it short.
-Every "origional" part of the movie is 10/10, absolute comedy perfection.
-Nearly all of the "new" sequences, CGI especialy, were more along the lines of 3/10. The obvious exception here is some of the remix of the "big battle"- most especially the smoke bomb. I still laugh just picturing that one.
If the sequel is ever made, and if the production crew keep it to entirely spoofing and cutting out the horrid CGI, it'll be a perfect ten.
...as a note, I've seen this movie about 5 times, and I think it only gets more hilarious for me. There are enough little details to keep you interested during repeated viewings. There are several gags I never even noticed until the third viewing or so.

Yes, I know such a high rating might shock some of you but this is the funniest movie I've ever seen. Then I bought the Chosen Edition of the DVD and watched it with all the different commentaries and such and...wow.
This is one of those comedies that you have to watch again and again to really "get" everything to retain from it. Being a big kung fu fan myself I can say it's not a tasteless satire, but rather a movie with huge comedic substance. And the DVD is one of my favorites of all time.
See it for a GREAT time.

Yes of course it was stupid BUT if you give me a choice to watch this OR those shameless product placement/formula driven "kid demographic" movies i.e. Cody Banks 2? and the Spy Kids "franchise" I'll take Kung Pow and the likes every time. At least it can make Dad AND son laugh. On that note I'll rent any Inspector Clouseau movie first before I see another precocious (sp?) brat blowing anything up. Cody Banks RIP will hopefully be the next sequel...if at all necessary.
It proves movies DON'T have to condescend to kids to entertain them. Most kids just "get it". If something's gonna be stupid by design then so be it.
Kids are smarter than the studios give them credit for being.

I remember being deployed out to this B.I.O.T. jumping back and forth from the island to this Buddha forsaken desert in a country that ends with the word "Stan" and it was my turn to appropiate something good to drink for the week's movie. Since I was getting the drinks I didn't get to choose the movie. I'd rather have been sober and chosen a better movie than what actually happened.
I had my big gatorade bottle full of Lynchburg's finest whiskey when they plopped in teh DVD in the PS2...Kung Pow Enter the Fist. Inside the first twenty minutes I shared my disliking to the movie and what did my comrade's in arms, those limey bastards do? They duct taped me to my chair and forced me to watch the whole movie! I had to drink my whiskey through a straw! I don't know if it was the fact that I was getting really drunk but I swear the movie played over and over with different dubbing.
I woke up on the beach, broken chair parts still taped to my extremeties and a blinding hangover. It was that moment on I decided that the S.A.S. were in fact as crazy as they sounded.
As for the movie, I didn't care for it. Nope. Not one bit. If you want good comedy go and get a copy of "Conduct Zero". It's dubbed so those who dislike subtitles will be able to enjoy the flick.
