Slackers 5/10...
Slackers is just another dumb, stupid, pretty harmless gross-out comedy with a cool young cast that delivers few genuine laughs but lots of toilet humor. When will these bloody movies ever stop! Anyway the main reason I can't recommend this is Jason Schwartzman...he is a psychotic freak in this film and is just creepy. Also the plot is so familiar and so over done that I just really didn't care. I did like seeing how some of the college scams happened, but I wanted more of that. Also I liked that laura Prepon was in it as a slut but I wanted to see more of her. anyway overall this is just another gross-out comedy witha few laughs(yeah i did laugh sometimes).

Sorry Jo and Puck, I have got to disagree
7.5/10
This movie was not just another stupid teen movie, like "Dude Where's My Car." This film was well done and had some really funny scenes. I think it was great that Dewey Nicks didn't just take the regular approach to this film. I mean the plot line was predictable, but still hilarious. I especially loved Devon Sawa's dream sequence. And well, as weirdly stupid as it was Michael C. Maronna's sock puppet had me on the floor. I recommend this film to anyone who can go watch a movie with mostly stupid humour and love the fact that it was made with a fair amount of intelligence.

Slackers Review
I have to say that Slackers was a huge disappointment. I found the trailer to be really stupid but funny and It made me want to see the movie. I'm a huge fan of Jason Schwartzman. He was awesome in rushmore. I did like his character in the movie but that's the only character I liked. His performance was very weird but very good. And do you know why it was so good and so believable? Its because He's a great actor who shouldn't be thrown into this horrible written movie.
My other problem was the stupid gross out sex scenes which none were humorous or fitted in with the plot or storyline. I doubt I laughed at all though out the movie except a few of Jason's scenes. Devon Sawa is a horrible actor (remember Idle hands) and has only had one good and believable role in the Thriller Final Destination. He was so fake in this movie. I didn't believe a word he said. and for the other two friends Jeff and Sam (Jason Segal and Michael Maroona), they were also very stupid and pointless. Angela (James King) was ok but nothing to write home about and her slutty stupid room mate (that chick from the 70's show) was beyond horrible.
Now to what I feel was the worst part of the movie. The ending! Ethan doesn't win! The slackers win! WTF. I mean seriously why did the "cool" slacker kids win in end and get Ethan kicked out of college and not able to get a job. What kind of shit was this. I wanted Ethan to win Angela! That was the whole damn point of the movie for him to get Angela, not to let the stupid slacker kids win in the end. Before that point I could have gave this film a 5/10 but since it totally screwed up at the end and made Ethan look like the bad guy which he wasn't. He was just a little obsessive! But he winds up getting screwed! I have to give this film about 3/10 like Joblo Said. I hope this is Jason Schwartzman's only film that was so badly scripted. I read an article saying the Him and Wes Anderson are planning another movie. So let's hope so because after this, we need another Rushmore!
Final Rating 3/10

Plot: Dave (Sawa), Sam (Segal) and Jeff (Maronna) are in their last year of college, and throughout college they have cheated on every test and exam they have had. Spending the whole year planning out scams to cheat every exam, the boys are living the grand life - that is until one day, a stalker by the name of ETHAN (Schwartzman) discovers that one of the slackers is cheating. Ethan confronts the boys and decides to blackmail them, his offer, he will not let word out that they are cheating, only if they get him the girl he is stalking, Angela (King).
Review: Once again, us movie viewing folks have been given another stupid, stupid comedy, which somehow makes me laugh pretty much the majority of the film. Now, this movie isn't as stupid as Kung Pow! , but it's also not as funny. Slackers likes to take the 'Farrelly' brother approach on this one, and slap us with some bizzare and crude scenes to make us laugh out of shock value. Now, I'd rather not give any of these 'gross out' scenes away, but I will admit I would have never imagined some of these scenes even in MY head. While on the subject of these weird scenes, they were actually the scenes that seemed out of place. It's like the creators of the movie thought out these scenes before they even knew what the movie was going to be about, then somehow managed to get them to fit in the plot. Much to the dismay of others, I found Jason Schwartzman to be very very funny, and also managed to hate his character. I'd say he did a very good job on playing 'Cool' Ethan. Devon Sawa just does his usual thing, look good and deliver what was on the script. I don't know how this guy gets roles, and he's supposedly looks good....I don't get it, the guy is nothing special ladies. I think his best role was in the film "Little Giants" as the first string QB.
Now, I'd like to let the world know about this new 'cutie' on the scene, James King. No no no, JAMES is a girl folks...don't worry I wasn't going queer on you people...(yet). James King is a little cutie, who although needs to have a few more milkshakes, still looks gorgeous. James honey, I know you've got some weird teeth, I know you've probably still got an A cup, but honey, give me a shout sometime. The other two slackers aside from Dave are pretty boring. I mean one of the guys likes to fart a lot...and comment on his farts, but I never found them funny. And the one guy who 'broke his tibia'...half the scenes he was in he wore a cast, but the other half he just walked around like noone would care if he had a cast on or not...weird.
I mean, this movie is pretty dumb...It's hard to reccomend it, but I will admit, I laughed for about 60% of the film. I could definately see myself getting drunk, having a party and watching this bad boy with a group of buds. It's just one of those movies that gets cheap laughs, and somehow manages to tickle my funny bone.

There were few laughs in this movie. Some of the things the nerd said and did were funny but that was it. The laughs were scattered so in between i got bored. That girl they liked wasn't even that hot, the red head from that 70's show was hotter then her. Some of the stuff they showed like the dick puppet or the nerd masterbating with wax on his hands was a little bit to much. The cons they pulled were really smart and planed out though. so the movie wasn't a complete mess.
The acting was actually alright. Jason Schwartzman was funny as was he in rushmore and devon sawa was pretty good too.
Overall the movie wasn't the greatest movie but it wasn't the worst either. I give it a 5.5\10

i thought this movie kicked ass. it was so freakin hilarious. i laughed during most of the movie. and it was sweet when dave and angela were together.. it was somewhat predictable that they'd come together, but come on it wasn't your your everyday teen movie scene! i mean hello they had a towel fight then made love by a swimming pool! that's sweet! and god it's a comedy movie... it's supposed to have retarded things that make you laugh. the dancing penis was hilarious. i guess you just have to be young to understand. i'd definately rent this movie again. another plus: devon is the hottest guy in the world

Thank you Devon! http://www.joblo.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
"Slackers" is a campus comedy that asks us just if we really want the teen gross out movies to continue? This is a trend that has really sky rocketed since the release of the first "American Pie" movie. It's about 3 friends who get found out about their cheating ways by a creepy, psychotic Ethan played by Jason Schwartzman.
Ethan wants Angela (James King who is a very beautiful girl)to be his girlfriend. Only problem is that Ethan is so freaky and socialy retarded, that Angela doesen't find him appealing in the slightest. That means trouble for Devon Sawa, who unwillingly falls for Angela.
There is chemistry between Devon Sawa and James King that I found kind of sweet. They simply spend time together and fall in love. All while his two fellow cheaters freak out about being found out and expelled. Ethan runs around campus with a camera, stalking and video taping Angela and Devon Sawa's character. There's probably also an over all charm with this movie. You really get the sense that the actors are probably having fun with these situations.
Ok. So at one point we see one of the two cheaters singing along with his penis with a sock over it. We also get to see Schwatzmen make a hair doll out of Angela's hair. At one point it appears he places the doll down on his crotch to probably masturbate.
Now I probably never really busted out laughing at any point during this whole thing. Some scenes I mentioned are just kind of dumb. There's some chuckles that I enjoyed more then most chuckles (whatever that means). But I just for some reason enjoyed the over all tone of friendship and romance. I found this flick enjoyable, but not necessarily good. It's just too over the top at times.
So if you want to see a movie that is just rude, strange, freaky (in a you're supposed to laugh kind of way), then this baby is probably for you. Once again, it had a certain charm that kept me in it and smiling all the way through.
OUT!
P.S. Phantom Planet is outstanding!

I rented this last week while at my cousins. We wanted a comedy for a few laughs, and when my cousin saw this box and picked it up i thought i was in for a big load of trash...as from the reviews and bashing it recieved by many fellow schmoes...but during/after watching this movie,i found it to be a very well above average teen movie,it wasnt just another teen movie, and it wasnt dumb and un-plotted like "Dude Wheres My Car" or as bad as "Orange County"....this,along with American Pie,are 2 of top modern teen comedy movies.I definetly enjoyed this, and loved the performances by everybody, espicially Schwartzman,it was a very good film, indeed i said it....a few unneeded/stupid inputs here and there but what movie doesnt have them?overall,it gets a 7/10

Slackers - 3/10
http://us.ent4.yimg.com/movies.yahoo.com/images/hv/photo/movie_pix/screen_gems/slackers/_group_photos/jason_schwartzman2.jpg
Last night was a really shitty night for movies. After a crappy sci-fi comedy and a boring police flick, I stuck this one in for a few quick LOL's and got more of one big SOL. It seems that the writers of American Pie, Freddy Got Fingered, and Say It Isn't So got together for a cup of coffee and thought "Gee, what would happen if we took all the joke rejects from our films, mixed them together, and slapped a plot about cheating and blackmale into it?"... Well I saw this materialize on-screen.
Our big whoppers... ummm... a guy doing a sock-puppet on his dick, a guy giving an old dirty whore a sponge bath, a guy that masturbates to a lock of hair shaped like a doll, oh and... then there was this REALLY joke involving... j/k.... there wasn't one... HA!! If you can laugh at my joke then you'll probably roll on the ground at this movie, but it's hard to believe that a cool guy I respect, Devon Sawa, wouldn't reclaim his role in Final Desination 2, but would leap at an opportunity to star in this pile of crap.

I went into SLACKERS expecting nothing. From the trailer and all the bad reviews I pretty much knew it would suck. I didn't even like anyone in the cast, especially not Jason Schwartzman (I'm one of those lost souls, which don't "get" Wes Anderson and didn't get much out of the displeasingly narcistic RUSHMORE).
But then I found myself enjoying the film on a very low degree of sophistication. Don't make any mistake: the movie is bad, albeit not as bad and unbearable as DUDE, WHERE'S MY CAR?. It's an enjoyable bad movie, as there is enough momentum created by throwaway, dumb and tasteless jokes to pass your time. If you have any sort of expectations, you're in for a disappointment.
Approach it as a time-filler to get your thoughts of something more demanding, and you'll be curiously entertained. Why?
1. The story is terrible and predictable, but has quite a few unmotivated turns into the hilarious thoughts of the characters.
2. There are sudden cameos by hot famous chicks I would love to bone, well except for the mum.
3. James King is a bland actress, but drop dead gorgeous.
4. Laura Prepon is good fun.
Too few arguments to watch this misdone piece? You bet, but then I don't advice anyone to see it. I had unexpected fun with it, but it's not guaranteed. In a different mood I'd have loathed it. ;)
