SPOILERS
I posted a review of this over in the Current Movie Talk forum, but it was rushed and poorly written. Now I am going to take my time and express all my thoughts on this wonderful science fiction production. I went into this special screening with a pass a friend got me. The 600-seat auditorium was sold out and the A/C was broken. I thought I was going to die, but then the film started and my mind went from the extreme heat to the film. Before I begin the review I am going to lay out my feeling about The G. Lucas universe. I love them. I watch the films all the time. I have tons of toys from A NEW HOPE to ROTJ to TPM and now AOTC(you guys should really check out the bad ass Mace Windu figure that came out recently). I never tire of the thrilling asteroid field chase, Luke watching the two suns set, the Hoth Battle scenes, Leia's planet being killed. And TPM, which I thought was a flawed, but fun picture, had its share of unforgettable moments. The Pod Race was amazing and so was the Gungan ship Vs. Huge sea creatures scene. I thought Darth Maul was scary, but looked like a wimp next to the man in black. What I really liked about TPM were the great CGI characters. I could not get enough of the silly antics of Jar Jar(he annoyed the hell out of me the first time, but he later grew on me), the slimy pocket picker junk dealer Watto, the evil asshole Sebulba, the funny and serious Gungan captain, and my personal favorite was the Gungan leader Boss Nas(is that correct). So you can read this as a review from a big SW fan. AOTC is one great film. It has top notch everything. I'll start off with the fine acting. Ewan McGregor was friggin' amazing. He really showed more of Obi-Wan Kenobi was really fleshed out here. His story arc was really like a detective. It really is fun as he searches for answers on Kamino about the dart and then the clones. The plus the beard is great and he really does look older and tired. Anakin is tiring him out. Hayden Christensen is good. He really captures the angst, anger, and slow journey to evil perfectly. He sparks with Natalie Portman and his best scene is when he goes all out crazy on the Tusken Raiders. Ms. Portman did a great job. She also sparks with Hayden. I loved the scene where she says she loves him as they approach the arena. Samuel L. Jackson was cool and that purple saber was bad ass to the max. Ian Mcdarmid was good as the Palpatine and his makeup was freaky. Jimmy Smits was the only bad actor and his acting made me cringe. The rest of the acting was fine. The music by John Williams was plain great. My favorite was ACROSS THE STARS. The effects are plain amazing. The shots of Kamino are breathtaking. The Coruscant chase was cool as hell and the first shot of Naboo ships coming to the city planet. It was nice to see a cameos by Watto and Jar Jar. There is also a new dude called Dexter a diner owner. The droids are great. This movie has awesome effects. The coloring, lighting, editing, etc. are great. There is some bad dialouge here and there, but overall it works. I highly reccomend you guys see AOTC this Thursday.
Final Rating: 9/10
P.S. Here is a run down of supporters.
Jango Fett- I forgot the actors name, but he was really bad ass and the rooftop fight with Obi-Wan was tight.
Daniel Logan was great as Boba Fett when he was was about 13(he really is a clone).
Christopher Lee was awesome as Count Dooku. The final fights were the shit. He was better than Darth Maul by far.
C3-PO and R2-D2 were funny as always.
THE END.....untill EPISODE III hits!
I can't wait!

Attack of the Clones was no a Star Wars movie. It was a sci-fi flick that after one viewing, I have come to loathe. I was not privileged to check it out in some fancy advance screening on a digital screen. Down on Canal and Centre street, one of the many bootleg movie dudes had some copies. For five bucks I got to see Ep.2 a week early. Something to brag about right, frig that. I am embarassed by this movie. I feel bad for the cast that participated in it, I feel bad for Lucas because he can't write shit and he's a typical hack.
ILM employees that worked on this movie are the only ones to say good work too. Keep in mind I watched a blurry bootleg version but its something you can just tell. The amount of work that went into making to movie. Look, people will see it no matter what, but if it takes three years to just make these movies, take four instead and spend time crafting a digestable screenplay. I hate every bit of dialogue I heard. I hated the pacing of the movie. Fuck what Knowles said about it being entertaining. I was bored. But how could I find boredom, there was some kind of action set piece just about every twenty minutes. Too bad these set pieces had no thrills. Like the Bladerunner-esque chase that opens the film. Or the attack Annakin and Padme fell into in the battle droid factory. Suddenly there are these winged monsters...oh forget it.
I am in such a state of disgust for this movie that I wish I hadn't wasted my 5 bucks. I know what will happen, people will go see it and be blown away, cause of the visuals and the effects and the pouding action. It took a viewing on a video tape at home to first realize the plot of the movie, well thats the point, the plot that lasts two hours and then some made no fucking sense. Between clones and battle droids and some angered Count and Jango Fett and Tuskan Raiders...I couldn't follow any of it. How does this puzzle of characters find placement. Jango Fett creates a clone army for some tall skinny alien race, but was commisioned by someone named Lord Sidficuous. Is that Darth Siddious??? No need to explain. But after this race of clones is created Jango is seen flying over to where Count Doku and those Trade people from episode 1 are. And while there theres a giant battle with Jedi and Battle Droids and big monsters..then the clones show up and fight the battle droids. But but but!!! Why would the count/jango/trade people have both their armies fight one another.
The original trilogy never left you this confused. Each film ended in a way where yes we have something to resolved but we always understood who was who and motives. Annakin gets mad and kills some Tuskan Raiders cause they took his mom. I would have let them live due in part to the way Shmi died. "I love you Anni" as her head falls snapping back. A tad over dramatic I believe. Speaking of shmi, Watto claims to have sold her at some point...sold her to whom. She appeared to be free and remarried. All I know is Lucas has 2 and half hours left to resolve his gaping plot holes, and from the look and feel of the end of this movie, there wont be much room for story. "so begins this clone war" declares Yoda. Jedi will die, yoda will go into hiding, luke and leia will be born, obi wan will also go into hiding, luke will find his way into the hands of uncle owen and aunt beru, leias gonna stay with Jimmy smitts and so on. Thats alot of shit to wade through in one whole movie. The stage wasn't set in Episode 1, it wasted alot of time. The grand space opera and holy trilogy has been tarnished twice now. With lavis special effects and deconstruction of the original trilogy thread. Come on now, why do we need C3P0 and R2 in these movie. They are just familiar faces that actually hinder the movie because people like me ask things like how come C3PO never speaks of these incidents in ep. 4-6. How come R2 can suddenly fly. I remember having a figure of his sometime back where he had rockets in his legs..fine, but why does he use them now and not later on in the continuity of the story. at AICN, someone wrote how they would have certainly came in handy at jabbas barge. Why do we need jango Fett. Just becase Bobba fett didnt get enough screen time in the first trilogy, but then later became a fan favorite doesnt mean he has to be stuck in here for appeasement. If you are in the mood to really please your fans, take out Jar Jar. Come on now, you don't think if Jar Jar dies in Ep.3 it won't garner cheers from audiences world wide. I dont care how Bobba Fett grew up. I really dont care about his dad and his poisonous darts. If you really need to include him, if its a must, tell me about his Mandalorian armor, I always hear Star Wars geeks talking about how Bobba wears the armor of the Mandalorians..who the fuck are they, show me them!
When is someone going to get hopping mad about how the current trilogy has technology and ships that put ep.4-6 to shame If the Millenium Falcon becomes the fastest ship in the galaxy, Im going to have to assume those Jedi Starfighters wind up getting really fucked up. How about that fancy ship with the sail, or this cool city planet. I almost want to say, I wish Star Wars as we know it never got made way back. Lucas shoulda just made these fucking movies then. He said he always preceived it as this extensive space opera, incorporating at least twelve hours of screen time. Well fine, then like any normal person, start your story at the beginning and proceed from there. At least your continuity won't be screwed and the technology in our real world will advance, just as it would do in any sense. So that when it's time to make Episodes 4-6, you get the point.
I can say this much, usually when you watch a bootleg movie you get the expected audience cheering and laughing..complete silence from this crowd. Fuck this movie, honestly, I want nothing to do with it. The appeal of Star Wars diminishes with each addition to the franchise. By part three I will have probably thrown out my Yoda figure.
And for all the people who dig the whole Yoda as a fighter deal. Sure it was cute and all as he flipped around and whatnot..but if he was always this agile, why the hell does he walk around with a cane most of the time..or float around on that flying chair. Jedi's fight really good by the way, even though I was under the impression Jedi's dont need to participate in battle. Aren't they all super powerful. That being, why not will all those battle droids to drop their weapons and surrender peacefully.
For those who will say, you can't ask such questions in this type of movie..nope. You cant ask those questions in a piece of shit Michael Bay movie, if you see one for some god awful reason. Star Wars is a little more elite than that. The first one was nominated for friggin best picture, thats standard enough to live up to damn it.
Fuck this I'm done, this was far more a rant than a review, I realize that. I cursed alot because I feel wasting more colorful adjectives on this terrible movie does it some sort of justice. It lacks intelligence and the reviews that are in favor it should be schlock 6th grade shit. "it was great, Obi wan is badass". I see spiderman has already made 223 million. Fuck yeah, now thats what I call a real summer movie. The first one in a long time that commands multiple viewings. Spiderman kills Jedi good.

Hello there Yankees!
I'm a Welsh boy (thats next to England if any of you aint up to scratch on yer geography), and was privalleged to procure a ticket for the special screening of Attack of the Clones yesterday(Sunday 12th), so am immensely proud of seeing the film before most people. Excited as I was I don't think that I was expecting a lot from it, but was pleasantly suprised at how good the film was. Ok, the dialogue aint up to much and the acting was kinda wooden in places, but Jango Fett was wicked, and the final fight scene, that seemed to go on for ages, was awesome, especially with all those Jedi's fighting with the battle droids and Anakin riding that big fat beast, and the way Fett took it down with just one aimed shot.
Blah blah blah.
Yeah, gets my thumbs up definately, and Portman is cute in the costumes as well! No more stupid fashion accessories, just figure hugging waist revealing wood-rising attire!
Sweet!

I agree Viva Palestine (isn't that where the Jews came from originally before they were kicked out, you know like Puff the Magic Dragon?) Well... enough politics and lets get to the movie.
It sucked. Diggler hit it on the head in hi rant above. If you're 12 years old you will love this flick. To give you an idea how bad it was and how this isn't just bias talking, I was at the opening show full of fanatics. They were laughing during several scenes from the horrific dialogue, choppy awkward scenes, and the worst love story 100 million could buy. Was it better than Phantom Menace? Yeah, but this was still a menace.
CGI and graphics -- amazing. But that's all this movie had going for it, besides a very predictable plot that ends in a scene in this movie worth puking into a bag it was so bad (even worse than the Queen's final outfit.)
Attack of the Clones is like a mediocre PG rated B-movie with great CGI but that's where it ends. Sorry to disappoint because this one does. A 5 at best.

Ok, Episode 2...this is where i start to praise the movie and say how great it was especially in comparison to the episode 1 and say htis is the beginning of more great movies to come...wrong. This is where i have a little go at the movie, accusing it of being jsut as bad as the first. AOTC just didn't keep me very interested. I wasn't bored during the movie, but i was no where near entertained. I can't help but comment on how good the effects were in Star Wars, all the CGI and everything was just awesome and some of the fight scenes were really cool, especially when Yoda comes to help Obi Wan and Anakin and fights Dooku with his Light saber, he was mother fucking cool in that fight, really quick it was just an impressive battle...but i'm afraid that's all i can say that's good about the movie.
The movie contained some of the worst dialogue i have ever heard in my life, move aside Pearl Harbour Episode 2 is here. Ok, i know this is the way the original star wars is written and it has stuck to that format of screen writing, but it could have updated itself slightly, the old script worked with the original, but it does not work here.
Also, corny? Now star wars films are meant to be corny, yes. But to this extent? I should hope not, there were some really cliched scenes in it where Anakin and Amidala actually roll in the grass together, i mean i despised these moments. And there was way too much bad script writing, cheesy acting, corny scenes and not enough good special effects and fight scenes to make up for the bad things.
We have to also thank George Lucas this time round tho, because it was clearly obvious that he heard the crowds' voice when it came to the Jar Jar Binks issue, he realised that the kids loved him and that anyone over the age of 12 despised the bastard, and thus he controlled very well. He gave the kids small doses of Jar Jar Binks, but not enought to really piss us off, which was good.
I am worried for star wars tho, they said the first one was a bit slow because it was just starting to tell the story and that it would pick up now, with the love story of anakin and amidala, with clear scenes of Anakin heading towards the dark side being a better paced movie than the first, but it seems the second episode has slowed down even more, i'm beginning to see a pattern emerging here:
The first 3 episodes will be very slow (as has been proven with Episodes 1 and 2) with few and far battles between, continually telling a story until you can move on to your video collection and watch the almighty great episodes 4,5 and 6 which set very high standards and will never be met by these trilogy prequels.
Very dissapointing movie just like the Episode 1 and all i can say is, Lucas is gonna have to pull one big bastard of a miracle out of the bag when it comes to putting the 3rd one on screen to stop Star Wars Episodes 1,2 and 3 from being crappy kids movies aimed at adults!
All in all i give it 4.5/10.

Warning: spoilers! (on the other hand, can there really be any? despite being put into multiple "life or death" situations, do you really expect Anakin, Obi-Wan, Sen.Amidala, or Yoda to die?? ...there is little "suspense" or tension in this prequel...)
Final verdict: as bad as Phantom Menace. more disappointing, since we were being told it was supposed to be better.
In this movie, all i was reminded of was better movies. the Capital city made me wish this were Blade Runner. the Gladiator arena scene was one of the lamest battles ever. Gladiator the Russel Crowe movie was much much better than this waste of a movie.
and how come those monsters kept changing sizes?? when the beasts first come out of the gates they look like they are the size of the thing at the end of Lord of the Rings Fellowship of the RIng (...or at least as big as a pre-diet Oprah Winfrey), then next thing you know Anakin jumps on top of one and it is the size of a bull. the thing shrunk like ten-fold. one second, the rat-lizard looking monster is eating an arena guard which easily fits into its mouth, then a few scenes later, Sen. Amidala does a kick into the same monster's midsection and it is the size of a medium sized lab retriever... gimme a friggin break. actually a few clips of the scenes were kind of claymation-looking, a la Clash of the Titans, really sad given the budget for this thing, and the fact that this is supposed to be THE creme de la creme special efx. showcase for ILM.
As for the light saber fights, i don't think i can endure another one. sure Yoda brought about a chuckle, but other than that, big whoopie. show us something new. someone else, brought up a good point, the technology can't blow away the tech of Episodes 4-6, since these occur "later" in the series. nothing about the light saber fights is anything different than the first fight we all saw almost 25 yrs ago when ObiWan fights Vader. anyway, how come these Jedis fight with these light sabers anyway? the bad guys are shooting lasers with all this range, and the jedis just sit there blocking the shots. no range. i am obviously not a Stars Wars nut anymore like i used to be back in the late 70s when i was a kid collecting the figures and sh%t. but light sabers dont make sense for a big battle... am i the one smoking wacky weed here?? yeah, and like how come none of these guys use the "force" to break out of those silly chains in the gladiator arena. the chains looked as flimsy as a teenage girls ankle braclet. the fights and battle scenes lose all their enjoyment when you consider how inconsistent all these things are.
As for the "romance" business, it is really painfully, awkwardly done. makes you want to cringe so far into your seat your knees are hitting your temples.
Overall, the Star Wars franchise effectively lost its edge with the Phantom Menace and this dud movie only confirmed the fact. Period. Exclamation point even. With a few exceptions, the special effects were overal good but nothing seminal. Stars Wars Episode IV (the original) blew everything before it into smithereens. We were all totally amazed. Some of the next seminal special efx movies might include Tron, followed by Terminator 2, and lastly The Matrix (an incomplete list). These movies showed some special effects things no other movie before it did. i'd argue that the 12 year old kids would in general be bored. Remember when they rereleased the "special editions" of the original and episodes 5,6? people were yawning, falling asleep. You would have thought these were sci-fi fans watching a screening of Driving Miss Daisy.
like Lucas has said, he doesn't make films for critics, or widespread public approval. he is making them for himself. Lucas is hyper rich beyond what any of us can fathom, and will make episode 3 whichever way he wants. dont count on him doing anything other than what was originally planned yrs ago for episode 3. of course it will do well in terms of money made, but count me out of watching it in the theatre. i'll wait to rent the video. and i'll have to rent a second movie to erase any bad aftertaste Episode 3 leaves.

Light years ahead of "Episode I"... this movie gives you a sense of the story all coming together (the Death Star, Anakin succumbing to the Dark Side, etc), and that is a wonderful feeling.
Bad, BAD dialogue in spots, but its imagination runs rampant and the special effects are awesome. Also, I will not come down from the high generated by the Count Dooku/Yoda fight for days... what a thrill.
In short, despite its overlong running length and other gaping flaws, this movie made me feel like a kid again. 8.5/10
P.S.-Yoda rocks.

The long awaited arrival of Episode II is over as Attack of the Clones opened today. I've already seen it twice. http://www.joblo.com/ubb/smile.gif
The movie continues the Star Wars tradition with great action, great story, and this one actually leaves you with more questions than answers. But this movie kicks ass.
The fight scenes range from Jedi vs Jedi, Jedi vs bounty hunter, Jedis vs big monsters, Jedis vs. robots, army vs. army, and the list goes on. The best one has got to be when Yoda whips out his own can of whoopass.
And that is why this film works, especially for the Star Wars fans. This movie was obviously made with them in mind. If you didn't like Episode I (I liked it but everybody won't shutup about how annoying Jar Jar was - get over it already), most of them will love this movie. For starters, Jar Jar has only a minor role - but still pivotal in one scene towards the end. It also has some good lines that hint towards the original trilogy. You gotta pay attention to those.
The special effects are great. From outer space fights to a transport chase, George Lucas is a master at this.
Of course there's character development; although I can't say Hayden Christenson didn't do a spectacular job, he pulled it out. And I'm still impressed on how good Ewan McGregor is as Obi-Wan; he even looks like a young Alec Guiness in this movie. And it's always good to see Christopher Lee in a movie, especially as a villain.
It's time to start guessing on how ole George is gonna complete this trilogy in three years. It's pissing me off that we have to wait that long.
8/10

Star Wars has returned with Episode 2:Attack of the clones.
When the title for this film was first released many hated it, I could have really cared less, its just a title and it deffinently doesn't affect this movie.
Many say the acting was wooden, I disagree, I enjoyed the performances greatly, with the exception of the younger boba fett. I just don't think Lucas can direct children for beans. Ewan McGregor returns as Obi-Wan and does a good job once again. Natalie Portman is beautiful as Queen Amidala, Anakin and his lucky self, going for those older women. Samuel L. Jackson does his thing. Hayden Christensen(who?, you may say), he is one of those people who more than likely will end his career like many past star wars characters, but he gets the job done also.
And on to the story, Well the main focus of this one is about the "you know" between Anakin and Amidala. Yes thats right, we have ourself a love story, but thats ok, becouse we get loads of action to make up for it, which brings me to my next point, the....
Special Effects were great of course, were talking CGI out the kazoo on this one. I thought to myself while watching, "Is anything in this film not CGI"? Prepare your head to be still for the last 30 minutes as you watch the special effects galore.
We get Jackson with a lightsaber, and we get Yoda kicking some major behind. Yoda is CGI in this one and its nice, his fighting scene in the end is classic. I also think i found my new favorite Star Wars creature in this film. I'm not sure how to explain it, its got 3 horns and its awesome, but you will see it all when you feast your eyes on this...um...how shall i put it...FEAST.
Guys you get your action and Girls get your love and romance. I think its safe to say we have ourselves a nice little date movie here. The theatre was cheering the whole time, claps and all. A big improvement over Episode 1, Episode 2 gets an 8/10.

Spoilers.....SPoilers.....Spoilers....Spoilers....
Well I just saw the movie for the first time and my initial judgement is 8/10 ranking it just behind Empire in the series. However that is what I also felt about Ep. I after the very first viewing of it. I'm going back tomorrow night to see it again and I'll see if my impressions change any.
Anyways...I think this is by far the most fun of the series just far. It kept me entertained from beginning to end. Some parts were definitely for the kids, but just as Lucas has said many times and yet it appears people look over this fact, it is a kids movie.
I loved to see the C3P0 and r2d2 of the original trilogy. I've always loved the bickering between the two gay droids and it's back in this movie. Again I know some will find it childish, but it is most definitly in the spirit of the originals and glad to see them back in form.
All of the action was great. The final 30-45 minutes is in my opinion some of the best action I've seen in a movie. While I wouldn't say the CGI was perfect, it was still amazing and had me completely enthralled. I nearly creamed my pants at all the light saber action going on. My only complaint is no mother fucker being uttered by samuel. I know it's a pg movie, but maybe as an dvd easter egg or something I want to see Samuel L. in Mace Windu get up swearing as only he can.
What can I say about the Yoda fight. It was slick as hell. In my opinion the best fight of all the star wars films. I was laughing my ass off through the whole thing, but not because it was cheezy. Man it was just awesome.
As others have stated, I had some problems with the romance scenes. It's the fact that Anakin was giving off a big time stalker vibe that Amidala somehow falls for. Seriously, the dude has restraining order written all over him. Because of this I didn't see the chemistry that you would expect between the two. I didn't buy it when they end up getting married. Perhaps Lucas maybe should have spent more time developing this rather important relationship. Even with this I think people are blowing the problem way out of proportion. With the actual small amount of time that is spent with this aspect it doesn't drag the film down that much. These segments are broken up well with Obi Wan's investigation which prevents the romance angle from over powering the rest of the movie.
Acting wise I didn't have any major problems. None of it was horrible, but not great either. Though Ewan Macgregor was very good as Obi Wan and even looks and sounds scarily similiar to Alec Guiness in my opinion. (Hmmm....Attack of the clones?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!....interesting) http://www.joblo.com/ubb/smile.gif
Again bottom line is for now 8/10. That could change after a second viewing. I don't see it going up any, but could drop a little or as with the Phantom Menace did for me alot. We'll see.

Well..it finally came, and boy was I entertained!!! I loved it!! A fantastic sequel to the explosive "Phantom Menace", with many cool action sequences, amazing visuals, and pretty solid acting. The storyline impressed me. I actually got myself to invest in the love story. I will admit--Hayden Christensen did a fine job, but I felt there was just something missing from his character..who knows..Natalie portman returns as the beautiful senator Amidala, and she handled her part well, I especially liked her costumes in the film. Really brought out her true beauty. Samuel L. Jackson didn't bother me. He was just there. Christopher Lee..wow..what can I say, the man is AWESOME! But the real kudos, I think, goes to Ewan McGregor, who has BECOME Obi-Wan Kenobe. He was born to play this part. Of course, you can't forget good old R2D2 and C3PO, together, providing some GREAT moments of humor. And Yoda fighting??? WOW!!!! Was THAT ever awesome!!! All in all a GREAT follow-up to the continuing saga in the epic trilogy. 9/10

I walked out of the theatre feeling like I just saw a 2 hour+ long very expensive video game. But then I've seen better written dialogues in a video games. The love angle of the story did not work for me at all.It seems like lucas is rushing the romance between the two character. The emotions are forced(the background score was queing the audience when to go ooh and ahh and boo hoo)It bothered me to no end that anakin was being called anni(I guess he's the little orphaned anni now)Shoot, that would've been enough for me to turn to the darkside. And what a whiney little bitch he was too.Throwing tantrums and stomping his heels, the jedi council should have lined up to give him a good spanking.I like christensen,he's a very good young actor and I've seen him in few films where he shines. But there was nothing really here for him to work with. The dialogue was so bad I was cringing at the love scenes.I also didn't like some of the vernacular being used in the movie, such as anakin calling his mother "mom" and boba fett calling jango dad.I thought mom and dad were modern earth english words not used long time ago in a galaxy far far away.I would,ve prefered mother or father.Imagine in the final scene in jedi where the emperor was frying luke's punkass, he turns to vader and says DADDY HELP!Boba fett didn't annoy me as much as anakin in Phantom.I thought Obiwan was the only character that grew and improved since the last film ,mcgregor did a great job with the character and made you believe him.I wish they had spend more time with Obiwan and his investigation then the long and stretched out date/picnic/between the whiney spoiled brat and the senator cocktease. As for the other characters,2 movies and still don't know or care who mace windu is.It's Sam Jackson doing Sam Jackson in a robe. And he looked funny running and fighting with a lightsabre.half the time he looks like he's going to trip and fall.Portman was just an eye candy nothing more.I liked the second half alot more than the first. This is where the cgi rendering robots were working overtime.effects were amazing, there were moments where I didn't know which was cgi and which wasn't.I liked it also because there were less dialogues between the two lovebirds.Yoda looks silly moving around like a flea on a hot slate(it's like the KUNGPOW baby on speed)There were enough effects and explosions to fulfill the popcorn factor. When I saw phantom and was disappointed many diehard starwars fans told me the second would be better. Now they said the third one will be the bomb and this was all just the build up for three.Well I hope so...well if the third one sucks atleast we know the fourth one's good

Okay, I jusy got back from Attack of the Clones a while ago and have this to say....
Cutman, My man, I have no problems with you, you know that. That whole fight in the other forum was just stupid okay and I didn't mean it as I'm sure you didn't either... But what the fuck were you thinking man, This... Movie... Was just... Amazing!!!. I swear to god yo that I loved every single part of this film beginning to end I swear. I loved the Story, I loved and Love Story between Anne and Amadala, I loved the battles (all of them http://www.joblo.com/ubb/biggrin.gif), and I really really loved the CGI Thruout the whole film. I was on the edge of my fucking seat the whole time. The ending was amazing as a motherfucker, and I couldn't have done better my self. Lucas really pulled me back in with this one I tell yea.
--First off, the "new" Anakin Skywalker was that I thought perfect for the part. He played future Darth Vader really well which I must admit I wasn't looking forward to being a good actor for the part.
--Portman (Amadala) was beautiful as ever this time around, and hott I must add. She really played her part well in this movie and I can't wait to see her again in Episode III.
--Mace Windu (Jackson,) was great thruout the film except maybe that he wasn't shown that much in the ending battle as much as I hoped he would be. Still, he was an amazing Badass and the coolest actor in the film.
--Obi-Wan was unbelieveable this time around, I mean he kicked ass to a "T". I really enjoyed seeing his character on screen and loved how much like the old Obi-Wan we all know and love. Great Job Dude!!!
--Chris Lee, was great but not seen as much as I hoped I would see him. I got the hint of a second Darth Maul when I looked at the screen time he had. He fought well though even if that wasn't really him doing it. I hope to see him with a bigger role next time around.
--Jango Fett was amazing cool on screen and the guy who plays (sorry, can't remember his name) was just perfect for the part. I was sooo pissed when Mace Chopped his head off at the end. I really wanted him to be around for at least tow films, but hey, what'cha gonna do right...
--Yoda, Who can forget Yoda. He was by far the best I have EVER seen in this movie. He truely shows us why he, is the Master. CGI vs. Puppet??? I say fuck!!! the puppet. Yoda should have been this way since Episode one, but he wasn't. I loved the way Lucas mead him in this Episode. He was by far (I know, I gotta stop saying that already) the greatest, coolest character in the Star Wars Saga. When I saw him pull back his robe and call his lightsabre to his hand I was on the edge of my seat if not already floating in air. He fought with such strenth and honor as a Master Jedi. His leadership as the Clone Army General was amazing... I'm not afraid to say it okay... I... LOVE... YODA... Got a problem with that. http://www.joblo.com/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.joblo.com/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.joblo.com/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.joblo.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
This movie is by far the best I have waited for and seen in two years. I can't wait to see it again on Saturday with my friends.
My "NEW Film Grading System
Star Wars Episode:
--The Empire Strikes Back (10/10)
--Return of the Jedi (9/10)

This was a great Film nothing wrong with it besides C3po was alittle out of hand in the end battle sceen but besides that
HAYDEN hit Anakin spot on and great young actor he will become. EWAN was yet again great as Obi-Wan and even made me think he was Alec himself in some parts. Portman what can be said great actress not only that she is just hot in this film and makes you wanna be Anakin yourself.
Now to the ONLY REASON some of us fans will bag this film, OK MOST NET FANS LOVE EMPIRE BUT ANY NORMAL PERSON IN THE STREET IS A JEDI FAN BUT THIS IS WHY SOME PEOPLE WILL HATE CLONES....
WHEN THE FIRST TRILOGY WAS OUT IN THE MOVIES NO ONE KNEW AT ALL THAT VADER WOULD TURN OUT TO BECOME ANAKIN SKYWALKER
AND THEN IN JEDI NO ONE YET AGAIN KNEW HE WOULD GIVE HIS OWN LIFE AND BY DOING SO KILLING OF THE SITH FOREVER
BUT NOW IN TODAYS AGE PEOPLE WANNA KNOW EVERYTHING THATS GOING TO HAPPEN, IF YOU WANTED TO LOVE THIS FILM ( I KNEW MOST AND STILL LOVED IT ) THEN DONT READ ANYTHING AT ALL CAUSE IF YOU HAD NO IDEA WHAT WAS GONNA HAPPEN THEN YOU WOULD LOVE IT MUST MORE.
ITS JUST LIKE IF YOU KNEW VADER WAS ANAKIN IN THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK IT WOULD HAVE NOT HAD THE SAME IMPACT THAT IT DID.....ANYWAYS THIS MOVIE IS ALL GOOD
10/10 MORE IF I COULD I GIVE IT JUST LOVED THIS FILM.

This movie rocks! Yoda steals the movie! The Fetts rule. Sam Jackson is once again a bad mutha fuka. The bad dialoque that everyone is complaining about--hello! All the STAR WARS movies suffer from bad writing. The original trilogy benefited from Harrison Ford and Darth Vader. These flicks are loved because of the terrific special effects and cool set-ups. Who wouldn't want to be a Jedi!?
This flick was great and certain parts made me giddy like a school girl. Not sure where it fits yet in my list of favorite STAR WARS movies, but I do know nothing beats EMPIRE (so far...Episode III has the best chance) and Episode II is a big improvement over Episode I. THIS MOVIE FEELS MUCH MORE LIKE THE REAL DEAL! Expecting to get the same feeling that you got from the "holy trilogy" is wanting too much. Enjoy the new trilogy for what it is--visual masterbation.
Grade: A- (sorry, I don't like the number rating system)

The best word I can use to describe this movie is...disappointing.
The dialogue is very stilted - no one seemed comfortable saying their lines. And the romance was so forced. George doesn't seem to know what really makes two make people fall in love. Why Padame would fall for whiney, cocky Anakin, I have no idea. He's not much fun to be around.
The fight sequences are amazing. But for all of the action and special effects, I was not really entertained. And at one point, I was actually bored, just waiting for something interesting to happen. At least Phantom Menace threw SO MUCH STUFF at you, you were entertained long enough not to notice that it really wasn't a great story.
It'll make money because it's Star Wars. But it's not one of the better episodes.

It's been twelve hours since I got back from Episode II and I still can't get over it.
The begining was a really great one. It got me into the movie right at the start which is a good move on Lucas's part. Once again the digital affects were wonderful and I found myself marveling at them.
However, some of the mines were pretty cheesy, especially between Anakin and Padme, but it still worked.
I loved seeing this ATOC because it answered so many questions about the first trilogy. ***SPOILERS***I now know why all the Storm Troopers in the first three always sounded the same with their voices and all, it was because they were clones. Also when Anakin's arm is cut off, that answers why Vaders hand was mechanical in ROTJ.***END SPOILERS***
I was origanly going to give it a 7/10 until Yoda. http://www.joblo.com/ubb/biggrin.gif ***SPOILERS***Like I said it's been twelve hours since I saw it and I can't get over Yoda. That had to be the coolest thing I had ever seen. He opens his cloak, uses the force and grabs the lightsaber and the fight began. I couldn't help but laughing at this. It was so cool. He looked like a little monkey with a lightsaber. It was awsome.***END SPOILER***
Because of the effects, Yoda, and because of Padme's nice outfit during the fighting, I give this movie an 8/10. I recomend it to all that love the Star Wars universe and to all those that haven't seen any Star Wars movies, and there are some out there, I recommend you watch the the first trilogy and Episode I first. Great movie. My hat goes off to Lucas.

This film was great, but had its down parts. Honestly, I recommened it to all fans and non-fans of Star Wars. Episode 1 was not even compared to Episode 2. In Episode 1, most people didnt understand some of the parts in the movie. But in Episode 2, you know and get alot more out of the whole story. In Episode 2, Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi are sent to protect the senator, Amadala, after her mother has just died from an explosion on a spacecraft. The love story between Amadala and Anakin is somewhat stupid, but still plays a big role in the story. Hayden Christiansen and Natalie Portman have an onscreen relationship that is believeable. Meanwhile, Obi-Wan is looking for the leader of the clones, which is believed to be the ones looking for Senator Amadala. Jango Fett is told to be the one who is kind of controlling the clones and his son, Boa Fett, is probably seeking revenge and Mace Windu, who was played, of course, by Samuel L. Jackson. Now, for the biggest part of them all. Yoda had the best scene in the movie. When he fights Chris Lee, everyone in the audience is cheering. Even though people have told you about that scene, like they say, you have to see it to believe it. I wont go into detail about it though because of the fans reading this that havent seen this yet (which is highly unlikely). The return of R2-D2 was great and the audience gets a first look at what C3PO looked like when he was finished by Anakin. Jar Jar Binks only had about 10 lines, thank god, but it would've been better if that was shortened because of the next comic relief of the story, C3PO.It was also hard to believe that the setting and stage setup of this film was to high tech and much better than the others in special effects. This one wasn't the best Episode, but it met above par on my scale. I think it would've been better if they just had another creative mind on their crew instead of just George Lucus.

Hmm... where do I start? Excellent action scenes, good visuals, fairly good storyline, so-and-so dialogue, shit ending. Episode II did satisfy me more than Episode I, but it wasn't exactly the best movie ever made. I did enjoy it, though, and I might even see it again, but I'm not handing it a 10/10. I was happy with the cast (except Sam Jackson, he just doesnt fit the part), especially Natalie Portman (what a fox). And when Yoda was kickin ass, everyone broke into applause and screamed "Go Yoda!" The ending, however, was overly abrupt and left viewers hanging a little too much. Besides a couple downsides, I was pleased with this movie, and I do reccommend it.

****SPOILERS****
Damn. After I got out of the cinema I felt like crying. This is not the movie I expected. I wanted a Star Wars movie. Instead I got a Star Wars videogame. I did like the chase of the bounty hunter with the Blade Runner feel to it, although am I the only one who thinks it could've been done better(no dialogue).
And yes, the dialogue was wooden, but that horse has been beaten to death. I have to say though, that in the original trilogy it did seem more natural than in this one.
Hayden Christiansen as Anakin, well, he seemed that he had an awkward time. Might be the dialogue, but he didn't seem to enjoy himself.
I don't want to go thru all the characters and actors, but I'll mention the ones that I enjoyed. Count Dooku was average, although his role was too small, but Chris Lee did the best he could. Obi-Wan Kenobi was good, but the best character of all was Jango Fett, who in my opinion died a bit too easy. Why is that when Lucas comes up with a good villain(other than Darth Vader) he kills him off really easily(Darth Maul, Boba Fett(whose death was a disgrace).
The only one who did his job true to the original Star Wars spirit was John Williams. His score was again great and Anakin's and Amidala's love theme was outstanding. Thanks to him, I wasn't bored to death.
One thing I still have to say is the fight between Yoda and Count Dooku. I felt it was nowhere near as good as the fight between Obi-Wan, Qui-Gon and Darth Maul in TPM. Yoda seemed like a rubber ball and made me miss the puppet.
In any case, a big disappointment. Damn you, Lucas. Get another director for the next one and pay Lawrence Kasdan to help you with the script.
My ratings for the all the Star Wars movies:
ESB:9/10
ANH:8/10
ROTJ:7/10
TPM:5/10
AOTC:5/10

First of all, there's one thing you'll have to know: I'm a STAR WARS fan. Not the kind of fan that sleeps three month on the sidewalk to be the first to see the movie, but the kind of fan that knows everything about the STAR WARS universe and tends to support George Lucas whatever he does.
Now, on with my review. http://www.joblo.com/ubb/smile.gif
Honestly? I LOVED this movie. It was highly entertaining and only had a couple of flaws that kept it from being perfect. Although I liked THE PHANTOM MENACE a lot, I have to say this one is way better. It felt more like a STAR WARS movie, if you know what I mean.
PLOT: A
One thing I liked in AOTC is that there's more things going on than in TPM. The introduction is over, the story starts to unveil: Palpatine is taking power, Obi-Wan is discovering frightening secrets, Anakin falls in love and gears towards the dark side...everything is here and it's interesting to see how the Empire beginned, and how Anakin slowly gravitates towards it. He's still a good guy, but you can feel in more than a few scenes that he's this far away (*holds thumb and index an inch away*) from falling to the Dark Side. Contrary to JoBlo I sort of appreciated the political side of the story, it was one of the things that made the story more believable. Oh, and C-3PO and R2 are the one making the humor here -- and that feels good.
Oh, and furthermore: this one is slightly darker and more adult than TPM. If EPISODE III is gonna be even darker, I'm sure as hell looking forward to it.
CHARACTERS: A+
Dozens of Jedi including some of the greatest (Obi-Wan, Anakin, Mace, and of course Yoda), kick-ass bad guys (Dooku, Palpatine, and the great couple Jango and Boba Fett), a beautiful senator (Padme!), and our two favorite droids (you know what I'm talkin' about). In one word: interesting people.
Oh yeah, and there're cool-looking aliens too, but I figure you'd guessed that already. http://www.joblo.com/ubb/tongue.gif
ACTING: A+
The acting was one of the best points of the flick. Hayden Christensen did a fantastic job portraying Anakin Skywalker, he looks and acts great as the future Vader, and you can feel everything is tearing him apart. Sometimes you hate him sometimes you love him, but most of the time you just feel bad for him. Then there's Natalie Portman, who does a good job as Padme Amidala, although I'll have to admit she doesn't do anything fantastic or breathtaking here. Samuel L. Jackson still delivers as Mace Windu, although in this one most of the time he just sits back and listens as Yoda talks (Yoda who, although full CGI, still has the great voice thanks to Frank Oz). One person I was very pleased to see in this movie was Christopher Lee, who really is as good as ever. The guy's like wine, he gets better and better as years go by.
But the one actor that delivers a truly fantastic performance here is Ewan McGregor. He's a perfect Obi-Wan Kenobi, he brings something new to the character but in the same time he feels exactly like a young Alec Guiness. He's really the mentor kind of guy, and even though I loved him, you can understand what mistakes he does that push Anakin towards the dark side. Most of it is believable thanks to McGregor, who did a truly excellent job.
DIALOGUE: B-
The weak point of the movie. There's one thing I'll have to admit: George Lucas can NOT write good romantic dialogue. Here it was corny, cheesy, and predictable. Where's the great and simple "I love you"/"I know" kind of stuff? Luckily enough Hayden and Natalie manage not to look to goofy saying those lines, but it gets damn close a couple of times. Overall the movie is too talky at times, especially during the romantic scenes as I said, but luckily some of the lines are great to hear (Yoda's lines with Dooku, Obi-Wan using his Jedi mind control power, C-3PO). Oh, and am I the only one who thought, when Samuel L. Jackson says "this party's over", that it would be "this party's over, motherfucker!"? http://www.joblo.com/ubb/cool.gif
ACTION: A
AOTC definitely has more action than TPM, and that's one of the things that made me like it more. The action scenes are all great to watch, although they had a couple of flaws. The chase in Coruscant, for instance, when Anakin jumps off the speeder (seen in the trailer)...how the hell does the guy aim for the other speeder so precisely, huh? I'm all for "momentary suspension of disbelief", but that was a little far-fetched. And another thing that ticked me off was the fact that, during the otherwise kick-ass Obi-Wan / Jango pursuit in the asteroid field, O'Wan uses the same trick to hide that Han Solo already used in THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK. George, are you running outta ideas or what?
But most of the action scenes are magnificient and breathtaking, and I'll tell you only one thing: YODA KICKS MAJOR ASS. You thought carrying a X-Wing with the simple power of thought was spectacular, wait until you see this! Yoda's a badass! (the whole theater was laughing in joy in THAT scene...it's gotta be the coolest scene ever).
VISUALS: A+
Stunning special effects, beautiful planets, Natalie Portman running in half a shirt and wearing a couple of costumes tight around the breasts and butt in a couple of scenes...yummy. http://www.joblo.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
LITTLE STUFF: A+
The Death Star cameo is highly enjoyable, John Williams's soring music is a masterpiece as usual, and George Lucas, contrary to TPM, delivers a few beautiful shot and nice camera movements. And did I mention Natalie Portman's sweet butt and breasts? Nice belly button too, honey.
8.5/10

I can not believe anyone is bagging this great film, Clones was a great film better then The Empire Strikes Back any day. REASON WHY
A NEW HOPE- Can stand alone wiht out the other films but seems like it has fallin short since the killer of his ( so called father Anakin Skywalker ) and Obi-wan has got away
The Empire Strikes Back - Face it this movie just is not as good without Jedi to back it up and i dont care what anyone says empire is a great film and has a great cliffhanger at the end but Jedi gives it the perfect edge and makes it complet.
Return of the Jedi- All round great film story is alittle weak but is meant to be since the main focus is on Luke and Vader. This also had the BEST ending by far and the best twist of the saga even more so then Vader turning out to be Anakin, When he kills the Emperor and does in the sith it was just the perfect way to end a great saga and then we see the true hero of the film (REASON WHY ITS CALLED RETURN OF THE JEDI)return to the good side of the force just before his death.
Phanton Menace- Ok like many i thought it was a let down but still a great film and now after watching Clones it makes it so much better then it was before but still all must hate Jar jar and Anakin in this film
Attack of the Clones - Nothing but the best star wars film to date some things like C3-P0 can get to you in the end battle but besides that its a MAD film, People bag out the love story let me now remind you of The Empire Strikes Back " I love you , I know " now thats a weak love story where as in clones they are still young and fell free and i just dont think many people understand it.
Ratings:if each film stood alone.......
A New Hope: 9/10 :with the rest of the films 10/10
Empire: 7/10 : with jedi to back it up 9/10
Jedi: 10/10 : With Empire to set it up 10/10
Menace: 6/10 : Sorry cant be saved 6/10

Ten years after "The Phantom Menace", Queen Padme Amidala(Natalie Portman) is now a senator. She and the republic are still having many problems. Padme discovers someone is trying to kill her. Upon the request of Supreme Chancellor Palpatine(Ian McDiarmid), the jedi council send Obi-Wan Kenobi(Ewan McGregor) and his apprentice, Anakin Skywalker(Hayden Christensen) to protect the senator. However, things don't go as planned. Obi-Wan is sent to seek out the assassin while Anakin stays to protect Padme.
I am one of the very few who enjoyed "The Phantom Menace". It wasn't a great movie, but it was fun. My only pet peeve with the film was the "kiddie" feel to it. And that's without mentioning the cheesy dialogue.
The second installment of this new trilogy, "Attack of the Clones" is an entirely different story. It's much darker, and has many adult themes. This is one of the things I loved about this movie. And yes, you heard right, I loved this movie.
Before I go any futher, I only had two problems with the flick. First, the dialogue between Anakin and Padme in the romance part of the film was a bit corny. It was hard for me to believe that Padme would fall deeply in love with Anakin despite all the shit he was spewing to her. Oh well, the dialogue did not stop me from enjoying the romance. It turned out to be much better than I thought it would be. My second problem will be revealed later on.
Now, it's time for the good stuff. The action sequences were just mind-blowing! Especially the final fight towards the end. "Attack of the Clones" was action-packed unlike "The Phantom Menace".
Moving on, I noticed a vast improvement with the characters. I loved them all. I was actually able to develop an emotional bond with every character. Well, then again, not "every" character. I recall wanting to kill Jar-Jar Binks.
Speaking of that annoying bastard, I was so glad he was reduced to a cameo appearance. But still, those five minutes he spent on the screen were unbearable. I guess you could say he pissed me off.
I was so happy to see the humor in the film left up to everybody's favorite droids, C-3PO and R2-D2. Every scene they were in was just a riot! Their chemistry was just as good as it was in the original trilogy. And on a related note: Something happens to C-3PO that is so memorable. It was so funny, it almost had me rolling off my seat.
Ewan McGregor was just brilliant as Obi-Wan Kenobi. He had so much more to do this time around. In "The Phantom Menace", he had absolutely nothing to do except sit inside a ship. Anyway, McGregor's character is more charming, witty, sarcastic, and wise. Basically, he was more of the Obi-Wan Kenobi we all saw the late Sir Alec Guiness bring to life in the original trilogy.
Natalie Portman was just amazing as Padme Amidala. I thought she delivered a decent performance in "The Phantom Menace", but I thought she was a bit wooden. This time around, she delivered a flawless performance. Portman's character has change so much since the last time we saw her. She's much more human. We definitely get to see a different side of her.
Hayden Christensen was awesome as Anakin Skywalker. He was just how I imagined him to be: A tormented and arrogant human being. Christensen was the perfect choice to play the future Darth Vader. Ever since George Lucas annouced who was going to get this part, I stood by Lucas' decision despite all the arguements I had with people who thought Lucas did a horrible job casting the role. And Lucas, like always, did not disappoint me.
As for the new characters, I loved Christopher Lee as Count Dooku. He was a bad-ass! Lee was charming yet evil at the same time. Temuera Morrison was fantastic as Jango Fett. He kicked so much ass!
My second problem with this film is regarding Jango Fett however. He was such an awesome character. And I wanted to see more of him, but I didn't. It seemed to me he(Morrison) didn't have much to do. But hey, I shouldn't complain. He(Morrison) had more screen time than his offspring did in the original trilogy.
I was glad to see Samuel L. Jackson get more screen time. He kicked ass! Seeing him kicking ass with his purple lightsaber was a wonderful sight to behold.
And finally, we must talk about the almighty Yoda. He deserves an frickin' oscar! Yoda does something that will have every Star Wars fan jump out of their seats in joy and excitement. This is exactly how I felt. When I saw this particular scene, I cheered at the top my lungs. It was a classic moment I will never ever forget.
"Attack of the Clones" is the film every Star Wars fan has been waiting for. It exciting, entertaining, and a lot of fun. And oh yeah, it manages to surpass "The Phantom Menace" easily. I loved every minute of this film! It's definitely one of the year's best! George Lucas and the force are back once again, and better than ever!

9/10. I never though i'd ever give a star wars movie a score like that since i dnt really like the movies. But after seeing this my mind is changed. I am going to rent all of the Star War movies and wtahc them again(since last time i saw them i was really young and didnt no shit). Anyway, this movie was awesome! Ofcourse, great effects. Everything looked SO real. The action scenes were also amazing. I heard people saying that the dialogue was corny. I don't agree with them, except for maybe one scene(the one near the fireplace). The cast was great. Natalie Portman was great(and hot) and so was Ewan Mcgreggor(except he wasnt hot) but Christenses was great. He played anakin so well. It was fun seeing how Anakin would slowly become darth vader and join the dark side throought the movie. But the scene that really ended this kickass movie with a bang was the one with yoda. I mean the second you see that little guy walk in you know that there is going to be some serious ass whooping. The whole theatre was chearing him on. I was like "kick his ass yoda!". It was great. This whole movie was great! Don't listen to those few people who didn't like it and go see this movie.

"Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones" (2002)
http://i.imdb.com/Photos/Ss/0121765/EP2-28.jpg
One of the year’s biggest films did not bode well for me. There were many reasons why I might’ve disliked it. I didn’t like the last instalment; the film opened to mediocre reviews and looked more like a cheesy love chick flick to me than a Star Wars movie. But, it’s still Star Wars so I had to see it. What did I think? I’ll tell you what I thought.
This movie was marvellous! It’s a big improvement on Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace. I found it very hard to find flaws in this movie, but I did find a couple that weighed it down a little in comparison to the other Star Wars films (meaning 4, 5 and 6 because this one is far better than Episode I!). The love dialogue was a little cheesy at times and the movie had some laughable scenes. One scene in particular was meant to be very emotional but it ended with a bit of an unintentional laugh. Spoilers I also didn’t like the scene where R2D2 “flies.”
So that’s all that lowered this movie’s grade slightly. Some cheese and corn. However, we never fall short on the good stuff – the action. In my opinion, Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace didn’t offer any brilliant action sequences (but the pod race was pretty impressive) but once again, Attack of the Clones improves on that level. There is a lot of action and some standout scenes. The clone war in the coliseum was one of my favourites – it used a variety of techniques and creatures to get you all excited. I remember my heart racing to terrific speeds during the chase to catch the culprit who had tried to kill Padme (Natalie Portman) near the start of the film. The special and visual effects during these incredibly filmed sequences are once again an improvement on The Phantom Menace. It doesn’t look too computerised – sure, in some scenes George Lucas can overdo it – and the set designs are immaculate.
The sound and sound effects that go with the fights, duels and action sequences are extraordinary. I saw Attack of the Clones in a huge theatre and the sound was even more impressive there. The lightsaber sounds are still eerie and cool, the stomping and stamping sounds of the huge creatures are terrifying and the violent gun and sword sounds of the clone wars are better than ever.
Acting in the film is yet another improvement on The Phantom Menace. Ewan McGregor is given a better part and more lines in this movie and he is definitely the young Obi-Wan Kenobi I pictured. Natalie Portman is also given a bigger part and she is gorgeous and subtle as Padme. Hayden Christensen is given some silly lines but he impressed me with his acting skills and expressive facials, he’s sure to become a big star. Mace Windu is a very easy role for Samuel L. Jackson; he waltzes through the role and is clearly enjoying his involvement in the force. Frank Oz is better than ever as Yoda, he has great and funny lines and his effort as the rockin’ character was terrific. Christopher Lee didn’t do anything special for me, and it was confusing me as to whether he was good, bad or a bit of both. Ian McDiarmid was annoying. Temuera Morrison is pretty good but he doesn’t give his most enthusiastic performance. And you don’t need to worry so much about Ahmed Best’s Razzie-winning portrayal of JarJar Binks, at times its even pretty funny, and he’s hardly in it thank God.
George Lucas gets his direction spot-on with this movie. He puts atmosphere and effort into the sets and scenes. His “force” is definitely getting stronger once again. Lucas’s writing does have some reasonably corny dialogue, but it is paced perfectly, and leaves you on the edge of your seat. I liked it the way this instalment poked fun at the saga, if you look out for the hilarious and brilliantly designed alien near the end of the film who talks in the funniest voice you’re likely to ever hear you’ll realise what I’m talking about.
Best of all, my favourite character of the entire series, Yoda, finally gets his justice here. He has lots of scenes, lines, sequences and he gets his own little duel with Christopher Lee! I loved it! It reminded me of why I started loving the series in the first place. Him pulling out that mini lightsaber…oh, man, that was too cool. I can’t think ol’ George enough for adding Yoda back into the magic after one measly little scene in The Phantom Menace. It’s cool the way he swapped JarJar with Yoda. See: Attack of the Clones - JarJar’s hardly in it, Yoda’s in it heaps. See: The Phantom Menace – JarJar’s in it heaps, Yoda’s hardly in it. Hoorah!
The love story between Anakin and Padme is what was worrying me when I went into this film. I was thinking, oh dear, this is going to ruin the entire film. It doesn’t ruin the entire film. Sure, it’s very cheesy in scenes but I felt it developed Anakin and Padme’s characters a little further. It’s nice to see the Star Wars series is once again putting in that little amount of romantic spark for the ladies. Of course, the unforgettable romance between Han Solo and Princess Leia will never be bettered in this saga, but what’s the harm in trying?
This was one fantastic and enjoyable flick that keeps your heart racing. The action sequences are brilliant, the acting’s good, the direction is awesome, the camera tricks and special effects are incredible and the sound vibrates through your entire body. If the script was maybe made a little less cheesy in some parts this movie would be pretty much perfect. Still, Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones is still damn impressive and definitely worth seeing if you’re a fan of the series – or not!

This movie (Star Wars:Episode II) was nothing short of incredible, and I'd rate it as the 2nd best film of the series to date!
Unlike Episode I (which had a few great moments but was admittedly a little disappointing), Episode II has it all: mind-blowing action, characters you really care about, and a lot of great humor.
It's great to see Obi-Wan as a fully developed Jedi kicking some serious butt (Ewan McGregor is brilliant in the role), Hayden Christensen (sp?) delivered just the right amount of intensity for the role, and (as has been indicated many times up to now) Yoda delivers a scene that has to be seen to be believed.
If Episode I was like a glossy travel brochure of the Star Wars universe, Episode II fully transports you there and takes you on one incredible ride after another. I've already seen it twice and definitely plan on seeing it again! http://www.joblo.com/ubb/smile.gif
My ranking of the Star Wars films:
1st place: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back
2nd place (tie): Episode II - Attack of the Clones
& Episode VI - Return of the Jedi
3rd place: Episode IV - A New Hope
4th place: Episode I - The Phantom Menace

i agree with filmafficianado agreeing with diggler...
i was very disapointed and i don't think the only reason is that i'm no longer a 12 year old boy... i even fell asleep (serious) for god's sake, in a star wars flick!!! sleep didn't last long because the bud i saw it with woke me up and i managed to see it till the end. so i didn't miss that much (anakin and padme frolicking in lake como - looking too much like lake como).
save for ewan mcgregor, christopher lee and Temuera Morrison nobody seem to enjoy what they are doing. too self conscious (direction, acting). takes itself way too seriously about being a classic. horrible editing (critical moment cut off). bad logic (yoda picks up his cane after flying around??? ok he's an eccentric!!!). How the heck did the 2 armies get in front of each other??? what? no planning? no strategies? they just got in front of each other and started battle? not to mention Padme's laughably weird costumes choices...
yes, overall, it looks great but i just wish that the same attention to detail was paid to the rest of the movie (character direction, script and mostly the editing).
i'll see it again, i'll give it a second chance. but as far as good old summer fun goes, this ain't no spiderman...

I just finish watching the newest installment of the Star Wars saga and I must say I was very impressed. The movie starts you out right into the action with the chase scene as ObiWan and Anakin bolt through mesmerizing scenery to hunt down Senator Amidala's attacker. Then it slows down considerably for a while which was a little disappointing. It was like having a massive visual orgasm and then you go through withdrawal for the next hour or so as you have to wade through the robotic love quagmire that Lucas insists on dragging out forever. The plot needed this but true Star Wars fans could have lived without as much of it. I mean for God's sake when Hayden Christensen and Natalie Portman where sitting together on top of that grassy hill, on Naboo, I kept waiting for Julie Andrews to come running out singing. I know all of the critics keep slamming this great film because of the bad dialogue and somewhat flat acting, but no real Star Wars fan is expecting Shakespear when they walk into these movies. They want to see the badass lightsaber battles and mind shattering special effects. This movie provides an escape from the monetary of reality by bringing pure imagination to the silver screen. The last 40 to 50 minutes of this movie make it absolutely worth the five bucks, as the action picks up exponentially. It seems many think Samuel L. Jackson is out of place in Star Wars, but I can remember when many thought the same thing about a certain Harrison Ford. Both of these characters bring a healthy dose of much needed coolness into these episodes. And Mr. Jackson opens up a titanic can of Shaft style whoopass in one of the climatic scenes that really gets your adrenaline pumping. Ewan McGregor was another bright spot. He really fits the part, as ObiWan much more comfortably this time around. I was extremely enthralled by Christopher Lee's performance, as well. He was the catalyst that brought rain to quench the thirst for villainy that was so sorely missed in the last movie. Also I have to mention the fight scene with the master of all master jedi's, Yoda. Oh my God that son of bitch looked like a can opener on crack with that lightsaber. That fight scene was worth the money by itself. With that bad ass little green shit on their side I still can't figure out what the hell they needed the clones for... all they would have had to do is tell Yoda the robots where making fun of his ears and the war would have been over with the groove he was in!! All kidding aside this was an excellent movie that could have been magnificent with a little better acting and dialogue. But as I said before it didn't really hurt it too much. The only movie that was better, as far as story lines go, in my opinion, was The Empire Strikes Back. However, again I must emphasize that you could have combined all of the special effects of the previous 4 movies and the result would still be paltry in comparison to Lucas' newest visual masterpiece in Attack of the Clones, which is why I'm rating this movie a 9/10.
A few points before I get into my review.
1: As a whole series of films I have no really stong feelings about Star Wars. I'm not a huge fan, nor do I hate them.
2: I HATE Star Wars Episode 1, hate it, with an undying passion.
3: Empire is my favourite Star Wars film, and probably my favourite sci-fi film.
On to the Review. WARNING There may be spoilers
Star Wars Episode 2: Attack of the Clones
Dir: George Lucas
I walked into this film expecting very little, I hadn't really liked the trailers, and as I said above I hated the previous film, but given wildly differing reports of it's quality I decided to give it a go.
It started badly. The first shot is entirely CG and feels like the intro to a computer game, but the film swiftly finds it's feet with a thrilling opening assasination attempt on Padme (Natalie Portman). As I watched the opening hour I felt more and more like I was watching a computer game, the dialogue was clunky, even Ewan McGregor (who is 100 times better here than in episode 1) had a horrible habit of adding something like 'My young padawan' whenever he adressed Anakin and this was really getting on my nerves. Even with this rather clunky opening there were good things too, expanded roles for Yoda (Frank Oz) and Mace Windu (Samuel L Jackson), A confident (and obviously less constrained) performance by Ewan McGregor and a plot rather more interesting than that of TPM.
After Anakin and Obi-wan go their seperate ways AOTC is like two films, Obi-Wan's action packed adventure film (starring the best of the films new characters Jango Fett) and Anakin and Padme's forced, false, dull and astonishingly poorly written and performed romance. Hayden Christensen does have some credible moments outside of the love story, Natalie Portman seems again to be under strict instructions to deliver all her lines in monotone.
Shmi Skywalkers death on Tatooine was embarrasing, I wanted to see more of Anakins revenge, but this is a PG.
But what lifts the film is the closing 45 minutes. There's a nice comedy bit with 3PO but otherwise it is action all the way. From the executions and the battle which ensues to Yoda's arrival with the clone army fights are well (if somewhat unimaginatively) coreographed and the special effects credible. Samuel L Jackson proves that, cool as he is, he's even cooler when he has a lightsaber.
That's the best way to describe the end of the movie, cool. The pinaccle, the very coolest moment in all the Star Wars films comes only a few minutes from the end.
Dooku (Christopher Lee) has seemingly defeated both Obi-Wan and Anakin. Then in walks Yoda. A force battle ensues, but is cut short when Dooku draws his lightsaber. Then it happens, Christoper Lee and Yoda have a lightsaber fight. Silly as it may sound there is a real childlike joy about that moment, particularly for me; Yoda has always been my favourite Star Wars character.
For me Attack of the Clones is second only to Empire. The best endorsement I can give is this, as I left the cinema I wanted to see Episode 3.

Star Wars: Episode II-Attack of the Clones 8/10...
Star Wars: Episode II-Attack of the Clones feels more like a Star Wars movie and far surpasses the dissapointing The Phantom Menace....but to be honest still doesn't beat any of the films of the original trilogy. That is due to the poor and benign script and the rather stale and wooden acting. In the first set of films it seemed the actors were having fun delivering there lines especially Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher...and this is what these two recent films lack. There is none of that cocky, witty and joyous attitude. I thought this hampered Episode 1 especially Ewan McGregor and Liam Neeson...but this time around Ewan McGregor does it better especially with his early scenes with Annakin. We start to see the younger Obi-Wan Kenobi as we knew him in Episode IV and McGregor seems taylor made for this part. The same can be said for Hayden Christensen who has that arrogant brooding attitude that draws him to the dark side...and I liked him in this role. Although most of the romantic scenes with him and Natalie Portman are somewhat corny and stilted...they are good together and she is just beautiful as Padme...and I found their love-story believable. The film is certainly not bogged down by the romantic scenes which is good. The CGI and action scenes are very good and often dazzling...from an opening speeder chase which gets the film of to a flying start I thought to...Kenobi's great fighting scenes with Jango Fett and subsequent chase...to the last 45 minutes of the film which are amazing and extraordinary...with tons of jedi-knight's fighting off monsters and armys etc...Less Jar-Jar was a smart move by Lucas and R2D2 and C3PO provide some funny moments especially what happenes to C3PO was great. Samuel L. Jackson just seems to be happy to be part of the Star Wars phenomenon and his reduced role as Mace Windu is bearable but nothing spectacular...the same can be said for Christopher Lee as Count Dooku he's good but seems old hat for him. Without a doubt the scene stealer of this whole film is Yoda...with a bigger role and more of his old and wise master lines...but when he omes to rescue Obi-Wan and Annakin and battles Count Dooku it is one of the best scenes in the entire series...when he breaks out that light-sabre and starts jumping, twirling and flailing away...the whole audience was cheering him on like I've never seen before...it was a great and soon to be classic moment. Overall as a Star Wars fan this movie does deliver eventhough I like the first 3 movies more...its fun, action-packed, great visuals, basically has something for everyone...and well worth seeing even if you are just a casual fan and want a good summer popcorn movie.

Just saw star wars.
I see there are a lot of long posts, so I;ll make mine simple.
If your fan of star wars, you'll probably like it, Lucas always makes me want to see more and thats what I think makes his movies great (plus the visuals). The only thing lacking in this movie was probably powerful perfomances by the actors. Ewan does a good job, but it seems like no one likes their lines -im still a fan so i give it 7.5/10 -bring on the next one.

Yet another George Lucas Masterpiece. and the reason why people are dogging it is because yeah the first hour was kinda slow but that was because its what we professionals called "Character Development". It also dealt with the fact that the jedi was investiagting the attempt on Senator Amidala's life. It was no different from what the some of the other star wars movies had. It was just as good if not better than the other movies. If you are a true.......TRUE Star Wars fan then you would appreciate what the character development means. This whole episode wasn't supposed to be evil because it was describing the turn of Anankin and why he turned. DUH!!!! I feel sorry for anyone that can't seem to have the money to go see the movie but yet have to rip off George Lucas by buying Bootleg versions of it. No offense... NOT!!!! I recommend any true star wars fan to this movie. I give it a 10/10. A true STar Wars movie. Anyone who doesn't apprciate this movie is not a true star wars fan and is just bitching out the movie to get attention.

It was pretty hard for me to say anything positive about Phantom Menace, but AOTC pretty much kicks ass. The acting is now much more lively, the script is tighter and effects are even better. But most importantly the film is way better directing-wise. Lucas is still sub-par with actors, but the action sequences are tremendous fun to watch, the visuals are a lot more interesting and atmospheric, and the pace is tighter and more varied than in PM. Along with keeping things generally faster moving, Lucas also thankfully understands to slow down the pace a few times to give us some sense of wonder in these wonderfully crafted imaginary worlds. Character development and story were more interesting this time around and I appreciated the few darker touches. But more than everything else the film is saved by the awesome action sequences and stellar visuals.
The script is admittedly a bit weak with some lousy dialogue and some mis-judged scenes. Acting is also pretty wooden at times and Lucas stages the dialogue scenes in a very static way. But if you go to watch AOTC to see good acting and dialogue, you are out of your mind. Just enjoy the eye-candy and the silliness of it all.
7/10.
[This message has been edited by Tuukka (edited 05-24-2002).]
This one gets 7/10 from me.
I won't bother talking much about the film, cause it gets repetitive after reading everyone else's points, but here are things I most enjoyed:
Most Enjoyed:
Anakin's mental trips. You could just feel the anger building inside him, especially when his mother dies. The pain on his face, holding her in his arms and his explosion in the Tusken Raider massacre is immense.
Best of all though, is his horrific description to Padme of the killings. That single moment has the best acting in the entire series, and is the most powerful moment.
End battle. Loved it. How couldn't you? Yoda got a gasp from the audience, and a few giggles. Brilliant.
It was also great to delve into the Jedi life some more, with journeys into the Jedi Temple - The library and schools etc. Makes their loss seem so much worse when we now look at the later three episodes. They had such a power.
Overall, a good film. Popcorn fluff.
MAJOR GRIPE: Really would have liked to have seen Anakin's massacre some more - Some powerful music and the immense hate on his face, flashing his sabre about would have made for something unseen in this series. A missed opportunity.
Although, Lucas may have scenes like this on a larger scale in the final episode and didn't want to burn the ideas out just yet (Jedi massacre, etc.)

Well I reviewed this in the AOTC thread but I will put some short comments here.
I do not feel AOTC even comes close to the original trilogy just like TPM. Maybe that is because I was there in the theaters as a 10 year old for ANH.
Did I like AOTC yes it is a Star Wars movie, and with all it's faults it is the only place you can see lightsaber duels and the Star Wars Universe unvailed.
I think the duels in AOTC fell a bit short, TPM had much better utilization of the Lightsaber.
I know the Yoda duel was kick ass but in comparrison to the Maul duel it was not long enough or acrobatic enough to eclipse TPM.
And maybe it was because I looked at so much info before the movie but the Arena scenes did not live up to what I had expected.
Too fast with little to no one on one fighting. I loved the scope but there was no Gladiatoresque tension to me.
For me the crowning moments of AOTC where as follows.
The Jango/Obi interaction, fight, asteroids.
The Obi clone facility investigation, that felt like Star Wars.
Yoda!
The visuals and the music and sound effects.
Actually damaging things when a lightsaber hit them, unkike in ROTJ when Luke slices people and they just fall to the side.
The things I disliked.
The wooden acting, although it seemed a bit better the second time around. It seemed like I caught some of the more subtle emotions that the characters where trying to convey.
Over use of the CGI, the Anakin riding the cow scene and whenever they jumped onto an animal.
The C3PO mucisal heads bit.
Over all I rarely felt the same charge as I did with the other Star Wars movies.
I would just start to get into a scene and it would end, especially the massacre of the sand people.
Now that I think about it, it seems like all the major actions scenes except the end arena battle where very short, much shorter than they would have been in any other SW flick.
Compare the asteroid fight from Empire or the pod race from TPM to the asteroid hunt between Obi and Jango in AOTC.
And I keep thinking about this so it must be my largest peeve.
It was the beauty shots of the pairs of Jedi as they established that the arena was populated with Jedi, right after Mace says the party is over.
All the shots where the same, two jedi per shot, ignite your saber and pose.
It was almost like Lucas had a "be a jedi day" at Lucasfilm and had anyone who wanted to show up, stand in front of an arena background and get into costume and do a two second pose down.
That is just the impression it gave me.
I originally gave it a 8/10 but I have to move that down to a 7/10 after my second viewing, I was actually bored at times, in a Star Wars movie!
I still think the originals are better overall but I am still looking forward to EPIII.
Hey I know people hate to hear this but it is Star Wars dammit and overall I liked it.
There not meant to be Oscar worthy flicks but fun popcorn fair and you havet to take them that way.
Out...............

Definitelly another Star Wars! This one is more action-packed than Phantom Menace. Very fun to watch, lots of eye candy, not too hard to follow. Aniken was a much better actor in this one. (Sorry,.. but the kid who played Anny in Phantom needs to improve his acting skills.) Most of the humor was unlaughable. I laughed at scenes that were not intended to be funny. Even got to see Yoda in on the action, and boy is he a fast little sucker!

Solid addition to the Star Wars universe. A bounce-back from Episode one that still can be quibbled over- it's best to just let go, though, and enjoy the visual feast. Viewing this film was a rare occasion for me to hear a theater just go ape-shit....clapping, cheering, and celebration. To me that is the mark of an enjoyable if not good film.
The special effects seemed more integrated this time- less Jar Jar and more background CGI. It worked. I still miss monster suits and such but I've given up on seeing them as the main feature in Star Wars films from here on out. The action scenes were well done- the climactic jedi battle in the arena is simply fantastic. We still get humor mixed into the final battle (C-3PO) but this time it works instead of fucking Jar-Jar.
The acting was solid all around except for Boba Fett. I think that has more to do with the script in those occasions, though. The dialogue was stilted and often just awkward. I think too much time was spent on effects and not enough attention to the spoken word. Very few memorable quotes and some scenes played out like a ten year old had written them.
Good use of music to foreshadow Anakin's eventual turn to the dark side. We also get George Lucas's embracing of sexuality. Thong ladies in the Coruscant bar and Natalie Portman looking scrumptious in her white outfit.
Overall this film is truly enjoyable for the Star Wars fan. A lot of questions are answered and more arise....leaving you in dire need to see Episode III. What's even better is that this film was more fun the second time around!

Star Wars, Episode II: Attack Of The Clones
http://i.imdb.com/Photos/Ss/0121765/EP2-20.jpg
The latest installment Star Wars, Episode II: Attack Of The Clones was without a doubt the worst episode ever! Rest assured ThereWolf was on the internet within minutes after viewing registering his disgust throughout the world!
JUST KIDDING!
This one is an improvement over The Phantom Menace in every possible way!
A bold, and dark installment in the Star Wars saga, Attack Of The Clones brings to mind another darker installment the Empire Strikes Back!
Lucas has done an outstanding job this time, he geared it more towards adults and less to the kiddies, (less Jar Jar screen time is a good thing!), the computer effects are breathtaking and the storyline is not as morose and overly complicated as Episode I.
The only complaint that ThereWolf has about this one is the slightly uneven performance by Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker, he shares the screen with Natalie Portman who is much better in her role, but the the two share very little chemistry togther!
Depsite this main complaint, Attack Of The Clones is a fine installment in the Saga, and ranks high in the series!
With it's amazing visual effects, fine performances from most of the cast, and superb action sequences Episode II is a great piece of entertainment that brings the story together well.
P.S. Kudos to John Williams for another amazing musical score!
P.P.S. Any Star Wars which features a lightsaber dualing Yoda can't possibly be bad can it?!?
Thumbs Up!

well, after seeing attack of the clones, i'm not going to sit here and write a review based on the acting, because that is not what makes a good star wars mvie. everyone who sats they come to see star wars for the acting, is a lying sack of shit. first of all, the special effects were awesome. unlike spiderman, the special effects actually looked realistic. the lightsaber battles were off the hook, and yoda kicked some major ass! yoda rocks the house! yoda is GOD! anyways, i liked the movie all around. sure, the acting sucked (except for ewan mcgregor), but c'mon people! it's a star wars movie! why the fuck critique the acting, when ou get to see things like yoda bounce off the walls with a lightsaber? I can't come out here and say that this movie was good, becaue that would be talking about the overall aspect of it, and i can't say i liked all of it. what i should say, and i will, is that this movie was very entertaining. YODA ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi everyone. Diggler got me so wound up I felt the need to put my opinion forward on this one. I can only assume he didn't watch the same movie I did (the fact that he watched it on a bootleg that was probably missing half the film says it all...)
Star Wars Episode II was the most amazing film I have seen since Lord of the Rings. There, that's said. It should be noted that I am a big Star Wars fan - I enjoyed Phantom Menace (those who didn't, I feel sorry for you). Sure, it wasn't as good as the original trilogy, but nothing can ever surpass the original trilogy. It was a fun film, a setting the scene excercise and anyone who tries to make it into anything else needs their heads examined. I have a theory that when all six episodes are made, Episode I will stand alone as a prologue to the whole thing with little actual impact on the rest of the series. The fact that there's a gap of ten years between episodes one and two proves that.
Now, that's out of the way, Episode II...
It's a good, fun, unpretentious adventure film in the style of the original trilogy. Anyone who expects it to be anything else is going to be dissappointed, but those of us who *get* Star Wars are quite simply going to love it.
There are a lot of things that I really like about this movie. Groundbreaking visuals are always going to be a given in a Star Wars film, and clones doesn't dissappoint. Highlights have to go to Obi-Wan's battle with Jango Fett and the chase through the sky lanes of Coruscant, accompanied by some nice sarky dialogue from Anakin and Obi-Wan.
The love story, unfortunately, looked forced, and it wasn't helped by the fact that the actors were given some extremely bad romance dialogue. This, however, was saved thanks to a fantastic chemistry between the two actors in question, who managed to make the whole thing believable.
Praise must go to the actors, too. Ewan McGregor is watchable in whatever he does, but he pulls this part of with an ease that suggests he was having a lot of fun making it, despite the long hours of bluescreen filming that you have to expect from Star Wars these days. He's even got some of Alec Guiness' mannerisms down perfect. I think the fact that he is convincing as a young Alec Guinness is about as high a compliment as I can give him.
Hayden Christensen and Natalie Portman are both excellant in this film. Mr Christensen in particular should be given praise for his portrayal of Anakin - at times surly and unlikeable, at other times quite charming, a charismatic character and thouroughly convincing lead. (BTW, loved the cut of his costume and his shadow - very Darth Vader). The gorgeous Natalie Portman is great in her role as well, a much more confident and likeable character than her turn in Episode I.
Mentions have to go to Samuel L Jackson (simply the coolest Jedi ever) and Christopher Lee, who is, well ... Christopher Lee. He always plays bad guys well, and I look forward to seeing him again in Episode III. A far better villain than the criminally under-used Darth Maul.
The final battles blew me away - I was a bit dissappointed that we didn't get to see an army of Jedi in battle in Phantom Menace, but this one more than makes up for it. The Stormtroopers being on the side of the good guys was a nice moment, as was the cameo appearance of the Death Star.
The cgi has improved as well - Yoda looked thouroughly believeable, and special mention must be given to te Kamino cloners ... very nice.
In fact, clunky dialogueaside (which is something that you have to accept about Star Wars films) this is quite simply one of the greatest adventure movies ever. Full marks George, and hurry up with Episode III - I want more!
PS - Yoda kicks arse...

I saw this the night of release in the UK before all ya yanks!!!
I went witrh a whole load of mates once it ended we walked backed & couldnt stop talking about it with almost every sentence endin in wow!
The whole film was great from start to finish i loved it. However i think that a few too many SFX were used for example when Anakin is riding the bug thing on Naboo it look like computer game graphic, the cat thing looked cartoonish, & some of the dialogue was taky but who cares when you have a great chase through Naboo which was cool and greatr fight with Jango & Obi-Wan.
But the first hour was drowned out by the last. The battle against the beasts on Geonosis was cool and then Mace Windu enters & a 100+ jedi all running at the droids and then fighting using their sabers was amazing 4 me as we see the Jedi like never b4. Then the cxlones enter and you are taken into the war its just great. After all that you get a great fight between Anakin, Obi Wan & Dooku with the Empire Strikes Back style with only the lightsaber glow and then Yoda jumpin and spinning lkike a pinball all over its all we could talk about.
Acting wise it was solid Ewan mcGregor standing out especially the Death sticks bit. Some very corny jokes from 3po like 'what a drag' and Yoda's way of speaking cracked me up more than usual. What also suprised me was that when i went back i wasn't bored it was the same feeling of amazment as the first.
Overall i think its a great addition to the Star Wars saga i can only hope Ep III is as good & Lucas making 7,8 & 9 i can only wish for.
8.5/10

I just saw the new Star Wars movie. Ho hum. There was way too much yackity yack going on in this movie for my taste. Parts of the movie were downright boring. Blah, blah, <insert some political statement here>, blah, freakin' blah. Repeat a few dozen times. <Snore>
I liked the skyscraper chase scene in the beginning.....even though it looked like a computer game. I also liked the gladiator scene (and the other action scenes that followed) at the end of the movie. However the other 90 minutes of the movie made me struggle from going asleep.
Hayden Christensen looked like he delivered some of his lines at gunpoint. Pull the sting on his back and watch him talk. He was more of a hand puppet than Yoda was in previous episodes. I wanted to reach into the screen and slap his character around.
Natalie Portman is hot, (nice costume in the gladiator scene), but I didn't buy the whole love story between her and the older, but still bratty, Anakin. I guess Luke has to be born some how, so there you have it.
Ewan McGregor does very well with his part.
I won't even go down the Samuel L. Jackson or the Jimmy Smits road to the cheese factory.
Thankfully, JarJar had minimal screen time. I was also irritated by C-3PO, but I have always hated that character and his equally gay sidekick.
Yoda's flight scene was interesting. He's pretty limber for a creature that has trouble walking.
There was a lot of the plot that I didn't understand (despite the endless dialog). I would have to see the movie again to catch the portions of the plot that I missed the first time......but I won't be doing that any time soon. Not until it comes on video and I have had sufficient sleep beforehand.
The mother dying scene could have been done better and some of the huge plot holes could have been patched with a better-written script. So, I say......6/10.

I'll come out and say it: I think George has lost all his youthful imagination and become a force of commerce. I was hoping AOTC would be better than PM, but it's about the same. Cartoonish aliens, showy CGI, flat dialouge, etc. Not a terrible movie, but still a letdown.
6/10.

In my opinion, Episode was a great movie. Almost none of my friends enjoy these type of movies because they didnt have an older brother to get them into this sort of thing! I did, however, convince one of them to go with me and she's siked about them now. Not a "star wars" freak or anything, but you know- Just happy with the movie.
I thought the music in this movie was totally awesome.. "Across the Stars" (Love theme) is great, just as expected. It could have not been much better, dont you agree? Nobody hardly ever discuss's music and such, just the "bad scenes" & "poorly written script."
Now, its time to critize the people that think so lowly of Episode 2. If the reason you didnt like this movie was because of the script, simply get over it. Ofcourse you thought the lines between Padme' and Anakin would be a tad bit better because we're living in the 21st century..and you THINK it is supposed to have what you want it to have. This takes place a long, long time ago, and I thought what they said fitted the movie fine. It wasn't exactly the "greatest of all time," but it was definitely worth watching. All of these people that critize the film probably wouldnt get half the ratings Lucas has. If YOU think you could do better, then prove it. You come up with something that will make you famous, then just try to "woo" everybody. Watch and see how it turns out. If you're a true Star Wars fan, and not a fake (only liking because of lines and such) you wouldnt think such things about Episode 2, or Episode 1. However, everybody has their own opinions in which I've got a flaw or two about the movie, also.
The problems I saw with the movie had to do with Anakin, which everybody thought did great. He did an excellent job, no doubt, there's just something about him.. he seemed like he was rather kid-like, then at times mature (something like that), in the movie, you know? And Padme' was much more mature than him, which was great to see her taking more lead over him! Natalie and Hayden did a spectacular job. I didnt see anything wrong with Obi-Won, he was just all-around, great stuff. Oh yeah, one more thing that I thought was weird, was how Dooku cut Anakin's arm off so easily. It looked like Anakin just wasnt looking and BAM! That part, I was unsure of!! But it worked out fine, because Anikan is afterall, just a padawan at the time.
Obi-Won and Yoda was awesome throughout the movie. When I was little, Yoda used to seem kind of scary to me!! I mean, a little green fury thing with pointy ears didnt exactly strike me as "Cute." Well anyway, I didnt want this to be TOO long. In conclusion, Episode 2 = Great.

i watched AOTC for the second time this weekend. since i fell asleep the first time i couldn't really trust myself for not liking it. well, i was disapointed as well the 2nd time around. too many things annoyed me. the loops for one (in every single scene with that huge bay window on the background....the same ships would go round and round and around again) it seems to me that Lucas could have given his fans a little more credit (-for their intelligence). A movie of that caliber should not rely on such cheap and vulgar artifacts. i'm giving up on Star Wars for good (meaning i'll still see whatever comes but with no expectation whatsoever).

STAR WARS EPISODE II ATTACK OF THE CLONES
starring:Hayden Christiansin,Natalie Portman,Ewan McGregor,Frank Oz
Directed by:George Lucas
PG
I have been waiting three years for this.To see the second instalment of the Star Wars series. And for the record,I thought The Phantom Menace was really good, and I also like Jar Jar Binks. And I am also a HUGE Star Wars fans.Well I don’t camp out for a year waiting in line but still,I love the Star Wars films.Anyways,Attack of the Clones was better then Episode 1.In fact I would say it’s probably the third best so far.
Well before I get to my review,I will tell you the story.Amaidala is now a senator and on her way to solve a conflict between the Republic and the other guys her ship blows.Luckily sees ok but the Chancelor wants her safe.So they call up Obi-Won-Kanobi and Anakin to protect the senator. They find out it’s a bounty hunter so Obi-Won goes off to a distant planet to go find him.In the mean time Anakin will protect the senator,Anakin is really nervous ‘cuz he was a crush on the senator.Anaking tells her but she says it would ruin there lives. So back to Obi-Won well he finds out that there are clones being built for the war that is coming. He gets imprisoned,Anakin and Amidala come try to save the day but can’t and then the war and some lightsaber battles.
There are so many things I want to say about this movie.Ok first off Yoda is God.He is so cool for a green little midget.Him and his lightsaber are a good couple.Watching Yoda walk out take out his lightsaber and begin to battle was funny and incredible.Natalie Portman was sooooooo hot, espically in the white thing she’s wearing. She was tight white leather pants, and a tight leather shirt that reveals her stomach.Man,Anakin is one lucky Jedi. The acting was pretty good.Hyden as Anakin was totally believe able,as he is really starting to turn to the dark side.We finally get to see Sam Jackson in his first lightsaber battle. His lightsaber was really cool, the colour purple. And he finally got a starring role,as he is now more of a main character.
The special effects were too amazing.Everything was awsome when it came to the special effects. The ships, the cities everything. Now,the new Star Wars is different then the others. That’s something that is ticking a few people off.But me I say it’s for the best. It’s hard to explain how it is different like, the settings and stuff. For instance when Obi-Won goes to the far away planet we find out it’s run by these strange looking aliens.Sort of a cross over of the A.I. aliens and the Close Encounters aliens but with suits on.It goes off into a 2001:A Space Odessy kind of world. When you see it you’ll know what I mean.
C-3PO and R2D2 are back. And in this one this is the beginning of there long friendship. We get to see him in some “clothing”but it’s more junk.Jar Jar does come back, but only for a few minutes. But there were some things I didn’t like about the film. The acting was pretty bad, even though I though Hayden was believe able as Anakin. The dialouge seemed forced and kinda sappy.”I will be haunted by the kiss you shouldn’t have give me.”Sorry Lucas, maybe your just not a screenwriter. They should get the guy who wrote The Empire Strikes back. The story was kinda slow and at times didn’t really work. And that bounty hunter, what a jackass.
Well minus the sappy and pretty bad script,Star Wars Episode II an in all was really great. The effects were cool to look at.The battles were good,Yoda is God!Ya,Star Wars all in all was great. And I can’t wait to see the final Episode III.

I finally got around to seeing AOTC this past weekend and I got just what I was expecting, another dissappointment. I was a senior in high school when the original Star Wars premiered and I grew up in a generation that loved Luke, Leah and Hans, not to mention Chewbakka and company. The last two installments of Star Wars, with all their special effects, hot babes, etc., etc., don't hold a candle to the original three.
I like Senator Amadala but where does she store all the luggage for all of those outfits? Carrie Fisher pulled off Princess Leah pretty well with only one outfit. And all of those weird creatures that kept popping up! I was beginning to feel as if I were on the same trip Carrie took while filming episode #4, or whatever it's called now. I always enjoyed the unusual creatures in previous Star Wars but this was just overkill.
I think Hayden Christenson did a very good job as Anakien Skywalker. He was convincing with his moments of anguish and confusion as the dark side was beginning to take control. However, I couldn't seem to really get an attachment for him other than pity because I know the fate of his character and what all will have to happen to him in the next episode.
As everyone else has said, the stand out performance in this movie was Ewan McGreggor as Obi-Wan. There's nothing I can say about his performance that hasn't already been said. Sir Alec Guiness would have been proud.
My overall rating for this movie would be 6/10. It was too long (I was yawning after the first thirty minutes, however the last half of the movie was almost worth enduring the first half), too much political mumbo-jumbo that hardly made any sense (I'm still not really sure whose side the clones are on! Just kidding, I know they are future Stormtroopers, I did figure that much out.), and the chemistry that existed between the characters that made the original three Star Wars such classics has been sacrificed for special effects. Don't get me wrong, I love great effects but I also want to love or at least like the characters also. That's the formula that has made Spiderman such a stand out movie. George Lucas has lost it with his last two installments.
One other thing that has had me puzzled in both TPM and AOTC is why does the civilizations in these earlier installments of this saga seem to be more advanced than the later installments 4, 5 and 6? Of course, in reality, it's because our technology has come so much farther but for continuity of the story, shouldn't the civilizations in episodes 1, 2 and 3 be more primitive?

i really enjoyed attack of the clones. i was fascinated from beginnig to end (especially towards the end and yes yoda does ROCK!!!!) My nephew love it too and he is only eight which brings me to something funny because he has never seen the first trilogy and after aotc he kept asking me if anakin was going to turn to the darkside. Do u guys think i should let him see the other 3. i dont think Empire Strikes Back will have the same effect if he knew that anakin was luke's father (like all of us i was schock) so if anyone has any ideas please let me know. Oh the movie is def worth watching not just by the fans but by anyone who wants to see a good flick.

There is something so cold and remote about this film that turned me off completely. It's overproduced and badly written, but there's something more than that, something deeper.
What it comes down to, I believe, is the action. Star Wars films have always been based around action, and only EMPIRE manages to suceed in producing beliveable emotion. But the action in this film is so detached, there is such an overrun sense of CGI that there is no human element, nothing to grab onto and recognize. And that's what made the original three films, maybe only because of limited technological resources, the films were available for the human responder, you can actually see Mark Hamill hold up the lightsabre and the background behind him is one that is real. That's why the title ATTACK OF THE CLONES is so fitting, it feels like a clone, there's barely anything human about it.
Other than that, the romance is shit, Yoda suddenly becomes the king of cool house dueling and well you wish Samuel L Jackson had had a better oppurtunity to do the same.
Refreshingly, there is the return of CP30, which is nicely nostalgic but could have been better developed.
The truly devastating part of it is that there was such a great oppurtunity to really plant the seed of darkness in Anakin, there are two scenes which are so short but show what could have been if this film had of been thought out a little (or rather a whole lot) better, those scenes entail Anakin walking behind Palpatine and then freaking out over his mothers death. Such an oppurtinity for real dark emotion, lost to crap action and stomach churning romance.
Overall, what can you say? A poor effort, a missed oppurtunity and a piece of cinema that will be laughed at for years to come.

I liked PHANTOM MENACE. I love all of the old movies. So, unsurprisingly, I went ga-ga over this new installment of STAR WARS.
I'm not going to summarize the plot again, so let's just cut the crap. The action is very well done, the story moves at a decent pace, acting is appropriate, with Ewan McGregor being the most likeable character. The movie's filled with many cute moments and with many adrenaline pumping battles. John Williams's score masterfully adds emotion and a sense of connection to the original trilogy AND phantom menace. The movie leaves me craving madly for EPISODE III.
It works. ATTACK OF THE CLONES, Lucas's latest story in the STAR WARS saga, works. But it works when you leave your pretentiousness out of the theatre. This is a movie to be enjoyed as a child. Enjoy it. As a child. Not as a mature man searching for every single acting flaw.

Hmmm...Where should I start ? I loved this movie, from beginning to end.I cherished every moment of it.I mean,it gives the word "eye candy" a new meaning.WOW ! Good ol' Lucas took the common CGI and raised it to a whole new level.Every effect was perfect beyond words, all the characters (like Watoo, well, everyone likes Watoo, right?) were simply-alive ! I adored Dex (you know, that ugly four-headed bartender) and cute lil' Yoda never looked this good. The battle scenes took my breath away ! The acting was also great, and even though AOTC has more FX than all the other SW movies put together, there's still enough character development to make us feel for the heroes.BTW,Hayden Christensen is sooo handsome...There,I had to say it.
Although the movie lacked the token "scary bad guy" (count Dooku didn't look too menacing),I didn't miss that for a sec, since AOTC had basically "everything" else-and much more.It was nice to see Yoda in action (finally!) and the arena fight contains a special treat for all StarCraft players ; the crab-like mean creature is based on the Brood War siege unit the Lurker ! I missed it's subterranean spine attack though.
After TPM,which might have disappointed some hardcore SW fans (but not me) this addition to the Saga delivers all the usual SW goodies, and so much more...A beautiful love story, for example.Did I mention the mind-blowing visuals yet ?

One of the best films i've seen but I didn't think it was as good as The Empire Strikes Back though...which is what everyone bet before they saw the movie.
We see Mace Windu alot more in the film and is in some good action scenes but Jar Jar doesn't die in any slow, painful and gruesome way and not once is there a "Meesa gonna die!!!" in the film - he's perfectly safe and is never in danger...but he's actually not as annoying and is hardly in the film!
The film is a little long and Anakin has finally learnt not to say "Yipee!" every two or three minutes which is good but the dialogue still isn't that great. But the new Anakin just really annoyed me sometimes...but he's better than the last one.
George Lucas' attempts to make anakin kinda failed really. Anakin is not a bad guy, but is, in fact 100% good. He suffers only from raging impatience ect. What nineteen year old doesn?t? We should have seen something truly evil from him. Anakin is still the unselfish, little boy we suffered through the first episode. It really makes me wonder how Lucas is going to turn him into a cold hearted, selfish, serial killer Darth Vader.
The story is this: some separatist rebels led by a rogue Jedi attempt to assassinate Padmé Amildala, now a senator, and Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker are sent to protect her. They capture the assassin, Zam, who says she was hired by a bounty hunter Jango Fett - during which Obi-Wan uncovers a plot to overthrow the Republic and learns of the formation of a massive army of clone soldiers and one is Jango Fett's clone son: a young Boba Fett who will soon become the galaxy's famous bounty hunter in episodes 4, 5 and 6!
Jango Fett was probably the best character in the whole film apart from Mace Windu and Yoda. Yoda is absolutely amazing in this film - he really is the Jedi Master towards the end where he'll be in the lightsabre duel which everyone was talking about. ("Kick your a$$ I will!")
When I first heard this I thought that it was a stupid idea and will never happen but then I saw clips off the internet with him holding his lightsabre and couldn't believe it. But poor Yoda must of had a really bad buttache just sitting in the Jedi Council saying "May the Force be with you", "The Dark Side clouds everything!" and others all day so I waited for the scene to come up and when it came i couldn't believe it. Yoda's the best fighter out there and even though the scene was incredibly short it was still great.
But the lightsabre duel isn't really the best bit in the film though and the one in The Phantom Menace is still the best and I'd be surprised if it can be topped. Yeah, in the trailer you see Anakin fighting the villain with two lightsabres but in the actul movie that only lasts for five seconds. The best bit is when the clones and the Jedi attack and its so good especially the bits with mace Windu and Jango Fett. And the chase scene in Coruscant (which looked a lot like the future of Los Angeles "Blade Runner"...) near the beginning.
I really wonder what we are in store for in Episode III and I am beginning to doubt that Lucas can ever achieve what he did with the original series. Again, I liked AOTC very much, but it?s becomes obvious, after watching it several times, that it?s nothing like the original films that I love so much. Once the eye candy wears off, and it always does (have you watched The Matrix lately? Remember how awesome that film looked three years ago. Now it?s very plain looking), I wonder if there?ll be much left to like in AOTC.
I'll have to see "Spider-Man" and "Minority Report" next - this one is light years better than The Phantom Menace and is one of the best films out this year! Go see it. NOW!

i've the revieuws and i can't understand how some don't like the movie!!!yeah, i agree that L.jackson acting performens was,ok, like really badly.
Natalie Portman and Hayden C. acted really great. and of coure it was mostley for Natalie Portman I went to see the movie because i'm a fan of her. but i liked the battles and the sables. But it's a pitty that anakin had to lose his arm,i mean that was unnessary.
But when YODA came up in the same fight that anakin lost his arm i was at the tiip of my seat.a person,or whatever he is, not bigger than your leg kicked some dark force arse!!! that was cool
+ i also thought it was a great scene when anakin and padme went into that arena and she said she loved him(that was the wrong time, they almost died).
they went further on the end of TPM, when Ewan McGregor saugh that anakin and padme were falling in love with eachother.
And i didn't expect that they are married, how stupid was i that didn't think of it. but what is she going to do when she get's pregnant or they found out of them being married? and if she pregnant and anakin has just gone to the dark side, i think padme would be a serious depressed.but i'm fantacying so i'm gonna stop.
IT'S A GREAT MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!!
(8/10) AOTC

go and see the movie!

I believe that AOTC lacked everything a good movie should have.
I found the script so weak it made me cringe at times. The script was mainly made up of long speaches that were an absolute bore. To me it was like lucas did`nt even care, the film had famous actors (good actors but unfortunetly the shit script did not do them justice) fantastic fx and visually stunning scenes, however this does not make a good film unless the script is up to sratch.
I believe all lucas was interested in was making money.
T he only person to get anything out of you going to this film is lucas ........ so please don`t

oh yeah if yoda could fight like that ..why does he need a crutch??????!!!!!!

Attack Of The Clones was easily the best Star Wars since The Empire Strikes Back. A few of the lines were cheesy attempts at romance, but came off rather lame. And there were a couple things I thought rather dumb, like when the creature in the arena slashes Amidala's back, the gashes appeared as if they may cause her to bleed to death. Later there is no blood and her shirt is cut so her flat stomach(not that I minded) would just so happen to be revealed. Other than that, I thought It was a great film. And Samuel L. totally kicked ass!!! Oh, If you haven't seen it yet, The Yoda Lightsaber scene alone is well worth the ten bucks!!!

Star Wars II: Attack of the Clones 1/10
Because it was Star Wars I gave it at least a 1 out of 10. George Lucas is slowly destroying his dynasty in my opinion. With bad casting, stupid characters (Die Jar Jar Die) and a horrible script, the series I once loved as a child has become nothing more than smack in the face.
I loved the opening scene. I truly believe the movie was off to a good start until Hayden Christensen and Ewan McGreger chased that bounty hunter into the city?? From there the movie was just plain bad. Typical hollywood one liners, really awful costumes/characters and dialogue.
One scene that had me laughing so hard I was literally in tears was when Count Dooku was on that little bicycle-like speeder trying to escape yoda and company. I couldn't help but hear that background music from the wizard of oz going through my head. The music where the witch was circling the tornado.
I pray in the third installment of the prequel, George Lucas will redeem himself by killing off Mace Windu, Jar Jar Binks. Until then ... one can only hope.
Thumbs down

I must say that I consider "Attack of the Clones" a small disappointment. It's not a bad film but it's definetly a mixed bag, and for that, I can't consider it a good movie. The visuals are amazing, truly great-looking visual effects. The action sequences are a lot of fun (especially those last 30 minutes that are just pure excitment) and the gladiator-style scene was truly impressive. I would like to see those scenes again on DVD, they are truly worth watching. But to like the film, I cannot. Because the first hour is soooo boring. The dialogue is very flat. The acting is so wooden (except for Ewan McGregor). The story is overlong, the love story does not work and overall the movie is a mixed bag.
5/10 from me.

I recently caught this movie once again on HBO...and where do I begin with how awful it is? First off, I am by no means one of the hardcore Star Wars fans. I do consider myself a big fan, and a big fan of sci-fi in general. But I'm not one of the die-hard fans who reads all the books, all the comics, and knows every little factoid about the entire universe. So the continuity and such doesn't bug me about Episode II. But here's what does bug me...
First off, the acting. Hayden Christensen is no better than Jake Lloyd. His performance is stale, fake, and bland to no end. The story is completely nonsensical, and derivitive. Did anyone ever stop for a second and ask themselves WHY Padme even falls in love with Anakin in the first place?! He's a heartless, rude, creepy jackass. He also spends part of the time praising Obi-Wan...then he bitches about him. He spends half of his screen time making Padme uncomfortable. Then suddenly, she decides she's deeply in love with him. What? And why would Yoda fight Dooku with a lightsaber? He wouldn't do that! He only did it because Lucas has to please the ten year-olds in the audience. And the awful plot leads into the awful dialogue. Jedis do not say "This party's over!" to their enemies. Everything Anakin says about his love for Padme is cornball, recycled garbage.
But my biggest problem is the special effects. George Lucas cares waaaay too much about making the special effects. They have overtaken everything charming and attractive about the Star Wars films. They are loud, atrocious, obnoxious, and overwhelming. It takes away from the acting, the atmosphere, and more importantly: the screenplay. The overwhelm the screen. The entire movie is sooooo artificial and fake. Not to mention cartoonish. Just because you can create all digital effects, doesn't mean you have to. I really think Lucas has lost his marbles. :(
The Phantom Menace: 5/10
Attack of the Clones: 5/10
A New Hope: 9/10
The Empire Strikes Back: 10/10
Return of the Jedi: 9/10
Here's hoping Episode III turns out better...though I'm sure it won't.

Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones Review
My Rating: 8/10
With "The Phantom Menace," we got the introduction. It was a movie that had the purpose of setting up all the major plot points. Anakin is now Obi-Wan Kenobi's apprentice, Palpatine is now Chancellor.
Now, onto the really exciting second part - Attack of the Clones.
This film ended up topping TPM for me for a lot of reasons. It was less kiddie and more dark. This was no surprise, since this story is ultimately leading to Anakin becoming Darth Vader. We got less of Jar Jar, more exciting action sequences, and a plot that dives deeper into what the Sith are up to.
Yoda fighting was probably the highlight of the film for most people. For me, it was one of the highlights, but I was more facinated with the plot of the Clone Wars and how the Sith are ultimately behind it. The war itself was better and more grittier than the diversion battle on Naboo in Ep. I. I liked the Death Star reference too. That was a nice touch.
But again, for some reason people trash this movie. Why? It's not bad. It's flawed, but those types of flaws are forgivable. So what if the romance was cheesy at times? So what if the acting was off here or there? Ultimately, as a whole it has a great story, and it's a fun ride. That's all that really matters with Star Wars. And I found this story to be much more unique that the old trilogy films. With the old ones, everything's already established, and it's just good guys VS bad guys. With the prequels, it's about how those people came to be, and why the universe is the way it is by the time of the old trilogy. I find that the how and why is much more interesting.
Again, JoBlo gets it right with his rating of 8/10. He gets it.

First of all let me say that am a huge Star Wars fan, I mean I don't buy the comics and go to conventions or anything nerdy like that, but I love all the movies and this one is no different. I loved the majority of this movie, all the fight sequences were awesome and the love story was believable and I bought into it. I loved Hayden Christensen's performance as the young Darth Vader, I felt his pain. Thanks to this movie we can all say with certainty that Yoda KICKS ASS!!!! That fight sequence was totally awesome and will go down in history among Star Wars fans. This is a good movie and worthy of being a true Star Wars sequel, bring on Episode III!
P.S.
Natalie Portman is uber hot!
Final Rating:10/10
