I might be the only crime drama freak around here, but...I started watching the parent show when it first started airing about a decade ago, and I have to admit, it has lost some of its appeal over the years, it's hard for a show to stay fresh for so long. BUT, enter the offshoots: S.V.U. and C.I. (which I watch regularly), and then there's Crime & Punishment, which just started, I haven't watched it yet.

Of all the Law & Orders I watch on a regular basis my fave is S.V.U. I find the cases in that show to be the most interesting, plus I like that cast the best.

Anyone else here watch any of the Law & Orders? And if you watch several of them, do you have a favorite?

I also am a crime show junkie. Out of all of them I like Law and Order: special victims unit and CSI:crime scene investagation the best. I also love watching real-life crime shows on A&E like Exhibit A,cold case files,American Justice, FBI files etc.

Oh cool! Another crime show junkie. http://www.joblo.com/ubb/smile.gif

I like CSI a lot too. I just love all the toys they have to help them decipher who the killer is. I'm afraid I have only limited access to cable though, so I can't watch all the other shows you mentioned. I hear very good things about Oz, I wish I could check that show out.

I'm not really a crime show junkie, but Law & Order is a very very good show. Great acting, and just about every episode is a fascinating story. Law may just be my future career, so it's no wonder I find the show very fascinating...

I thought about going into law too, alas, it was not to be. I ended up with a German degree instead. A lot of good that did me. LOL! I still have a fascination with law, criminology, and forensics though...

Colin, do you ever watch The Practice? I think that show is pretty good too. It has just the right amount of quirkiness to be entertaining, but it can get pretty serious too. So, that's another law show I'd recommend.

I've seen The Practice a few times and it seems more like drama than serious crime stuff to me, but it's still good. I'm not a regular viewer, though...

Back to the topic of Law & Order (the parent show)...

I had some fave characters which are no longer with the show, there was Ben Stone (Michael Moriarty), Mike Logan (Chris Noth), DA Adam Schiff (Steven Hill)...these guys were more or less irreplacable to me. And what is up with all those ADAs? I think they went through 5 different ones so far, I'd have to say the latest one (Elisabeth Rohm) is my least favorite. I liked Jill Hennessy and Angie Harmon the best in that role.

Honestly, some of the cast changes over the years have contributed to my declining interest in the show.

I actually think Elisabeth Rohm (who I liked on Angel) is OK in that role, but Jill Hennessy was the greatest. (She's great on her Crossing Jordan show, too) I doubt anyone will top her (although the one before Rohm was good).

I like the constant cast changes, it keeps the show interesting. However, I do miss Ben Stone's character and Chris Noth, and I'll be really upset when/if Jerry Orbach leaves the show. http://www.joblo.com/ubb/frown.gif

Oh no, don't say that...Jerry Orbach must never leave the show! NEVER!

Jerry's one of the old timers, and he and S. Epatha Merkerson are what keeps me tuning in. These people just grew on me, and I'd hate it if they ever left.

The ADAs seem to be disposable, so the turnover doesn't bother me quite as much as it used to. But the DA...I don't mind the new DA, but I do miss Adam Schiff. He always poured himself that glass of Scotch (or whatever it was) at the end of the show, it's just stupid little things like that that I miss.

And I agree, Jill Henessy rocks on Crossing Jordan. I think that show is pretty groovy. I love that English guy who plays Nigel...he cracks me up.

I never really watched Law & Order until recently but I always loved the theme song. I'm glad after all these years it's still intact. I really enjoy criminal intent because of the main detective. He's like a modern day Sherlock with interesting mannerisms.

Criminal Intent; everyone must watch Criminal Intent. Vincent D'Onofrio is tops.
