I think that it s beautifully filmed, above all else. It is definately one of my favorite war "movies". Good performances all around, and nice battle scenes. My favorite episode was the one where they found the concentration camp. Cant rememer the name though.

possibly one of the greatest series ever. It showed that war greatly. They told it like it was, and you definatly got character development throug-out the whole series.
The cinematography is simply explendid!
It is a mini-serie, otherwise it certanly won an Oscar on this category.

I've been renting all the episodes and I've seen them all now. Overall it's outstanding and probably the best miniseries I've ever seen (I haven't seen that many). The ensemble cast is superb and the writing is excellent. I will break it down by episode. UPDATE: This wound up being so much better than I expected. It's the best war movie I have ever seen.
1. Curahee: 7/10
2. Day of Days: 8/10
3. Carentan: 9/10
4. Replacements: 8/10
5. Crossroads: 8/10
6. Bastogne: 10/10
7. The Breaking Point: 10/10
8. The Last Patrol: 9/10
9. Why We Fight: 10/10
10. Points: 10/10
Overall: 10/10:D
My favorite was the final episode. I made me sad at the end. They were going what happened to everybody after and my dad mentioned that my late greatgrandpa (who fought in WWII) would have like the series and I really felt sad. I also really like Bastogne, The Breaking Point, and Why We Fight (what a great name for that episode!).

I just got the box set and have watched the first three so far. They are really well done.
No one in my family fought in WWII, and though I believe that my grandfather fought in Korea, he died when I was young and I never got the oppurtunity to ask him about his experiences. But with the current state of the world and being that a couple of people that I was friends with in college have been sent over to the Middle East, shows like this really hit home because they humanize the actions of these soldiers. Watching Band of Brothers or Saving Private Ryan makes you realize the individaul sacrifices these men had to make. It makes you realize that these soldiers were just ordinary men like you or me or my friends. It gives me a much greater aprreciation of what the soldiers from WWII accomplished and makes me respect so much more the soldiers who will fight the new wars. It makes me hope that if I were ever put into a situation like these men had to face, that I would be able to handle myself as honorably as they did.
Um..oh yeah, the cinematography is cool too.

***SPOILERS***
I was especially impressed by the episode where they discover the concentration-camps.. I never even thought about the young Americans in the army who actually were one of the first people who actually saw those hell-holes..
Very well made series. No, cut that. EXTREMELY well done series. You can see that they spent some money on it, but it's very well done. I'm not into war movies or war series at all, but this one had me glued to my TV set.. My boyfriend bought the DVDbox, and if the time is right, I'm gonna watch the whole series again.

The only bit that didn't work for me in the entire series was the appearance of Jimmy Fallon.
The book is also great. Among other things, it says that they tried to get Sobule to come to their reunions but he refused.

over Christmas break I watched the whole series on DVD. It was simply amazing. In my opinion the best war movie/tv show that I have ever seen. Too bad there wasn't some way to enjoy it on the large screen of a theater. I loved the fact the so few big names were used. With the exception of a couple people I think all of them were relative newcomers and all did a great job. I'm probably going to use the concentration camp episode in the two history classes I'm student teaching in right now and maybe a couple of other episodes if i can fit them in.

I got the boxset for Christmas and it's easily the best mini series ever created. I'm in love with this show.
My favourite episodes are Bastogne and The Last Patrol. Although all of them are excellent.
Who are everyone's favourite character's? I'm a big fan of Doc Roe myself.

Yeah I really liked Eugene. I also liked Winters a lot. Oh and I really identified with Blythe. I felt so sorry for him.

I like Ron Livingston's character Capt. Nixon.
Its almost like he is playing the exact same character from Office Space. He's a drunk, he always looks like he just woke up. I hope that Ron Livingston is able to make a whole career out of playing this character. Someone I can identify with.

Yeah, Nixon had a great character arc through the series. Going from a young, enthusiastic rich kid to a grizzled alcoholic who questions the whole war. Ron Livinston is great in Why We Fight.
The only bad thing about this series is that it ended.

This series is a testament of the human power to survive even under the most shittiest of circumstances. I can't say enough praise for this series. It is the finest film project on war ever made IMO.

I consider Band of Brothers to be better than the movie Saving Private Ryan because Band of Brothers gets into serious plot structure focussing not only on the war but the affect on the soldiers of Easy Company the stories told through this series is beyond excelence one of the best miniseries ever made PERIOD!
10/10
