OK, guys
I have digital cable. With that, you get MTV and MTV2. I always watch MTV because the other one is just videos. So, MTV has Jackass and Cribs and Road Rules and Real World and more. But it seems like I'm missing out on some of the programs. When I go on their website it lists way mores shows then i have, or maybe I just didn't see tehm yet. I dunno, but anyone from Nova Scotia help me out. Is our MTV the same as their MTV? And what time and what day does "FEAR" come on in N.S.? thanx

No, your not missing anything. Most of the shows on their site have been canceled or are really old and have lost their appeal. MTV never shows reruns of the good shows.... Only Real World and Road Rules it seems....

Oh, Thanks, but the new show "I Bet You Will" is never on and it's supposed to be. Also does MTV always have that show "Select" on?

I'll somewhat have to agree.

I, being a music freak, also agree that MTV sucks. It is full of lame shows and totally commercialized hypnotizing pop and hip hop. They never show anything good on it, and most of it is Carson Daly and Nsync.

Will you WONDERFUL people stop bashing MTV for one second? That's not what this topic is about! Scroll up and read the first!Well I'm not saying MTV sucks, I'd just like to know about the shows on the channel, anyone have any info on it? Is it on where you are?
If I hear one more time "MTV sucks" I'm gonna report you to JoBlo for getting 3 posts off topic! MTV is for teenagers, not 46 year old Casablanca lovers who go to restaurants an order Sushi and listen to Bach! OK? So awnser my orignial question please. Also no offence to any 46 year old Casablanca lovers who go to restaurants and order Sushi and listen to Bach! There, now you all have exhausted me and though I hate to say it, I almost have to agree with the late Moviedude.

Dude, I suggest YOU read your post again because in it you clearly state I need to edit my post. I have posted 3 topics! What one needs editing and for some crazy reason I wanna know why?

The one which refers to the other schmoes as cry babies, I just think you should have but it more delicately something like:
well I'm not saying MTV sucks, I'd just like to know about the shows on the channel, anyone have any info on it? Is it on where you are?
and if you don't want to edit it that's your choice but I was just hoping you didn't want to come off the way you did to me to everyone else who reads that post. I wasn't offended but I feel the line is becoming somewhat close by. Just trying to do you a favour but if you feel that the post is fine as it is leave it.
I hate to say it but now this topic is waaay off the original point.

Bob is right, PorcheRacer. Even if you feel the other Schmoes are getting off topic, you can handle it with a lot more diplomacy and kindness. Let's not turn this thread into a fight please, OK?

I'm going off topic here, so feel free to tattle to JoBlo.
Y'know, there was a time when MTV meant "music television." Does anyone else remember the days of Bon Jovi videos with an occasional episode of "Remote Control"? What the hell happened? In what way does "Road Rules" or "Jackass" have to do with music? "Beavis and Butthead" had a connection to music. So did "Just Say Julie." (Anyone else remember that show, or am I just really, really old? Tell me there are others who remember Martha Quinn and Adam Curry!)

That statement just burns me. Videos are why MTV was conceived in the first place!!! What a sad, sad state "music television" is nowadays. I'd say the fit started to hit the shan around the time Jenny McCarthy left "Singled Out." But now I've got DTV too, and so thank god for VH1 Classic - they showed a Bob Marley video the other day and I almost shit a brick. Damn, I can watch that channel for hours.
Anyway, to bring this silly rant back to topic, I've no idea about Canadian MTV. I know nothing about any MTV since there's no longer any programming for anyone over 25 after "Daria" ended its run. What the hell is "Fear"? Are they showing the Marky Mark/Reese Witherspoon flick? Hey, it's got some good music from one-syllable-monikered grunge bands like Bush, Prick, and Dink, and the rollercoaster orgasm is pretty fuckin' hot, so why not?

I'd like to respond to that statement with something other than incredulity, but my mind boggles at the thought of just how much MTV has lost sight of its purpose and reason for being.

Note to everyone: Fighting about why thread is offtopic is ironic. What started off "3 posts offtopic" is now 10 posts offtopic. Lets get back to what this thread is about: MTV and their tendency to cancel "good" shows.

I personally love the fact that they split it into two channels. Previously, the only time when we really got to see music videos was on TRL. Even then, we only got to see a small sample of what was available.
It seems that MTV loves creativity. So I have no problem with them continuing to make shows. I do have to agree with Horror Whore though.. They do tend to phase out their higher quality shows. Its has been and will always continue to be about high ratings.
As for your question, Porche, I wouldn't know how to help you. I do not live in canada. I ran a search and came up with this website: http://www.tvtimes.com/mail/Default.htm
Make sure you select the cable/satellite provider that you currently have. Thats really important. If you think you are missing out, you should really check with them. It is, however, unlikely that you are getting jipped.
