Is there anyone else as PISSED OFF as I am that they are removing this from the air? And for the naysayers b4 you start, you can say all you want about ABC has the right blah blah, but we all know this was done because of political pressure and wusses who can't face facts and truth.

I don't always like Bill Maher, but often he makes good points...and the show allows real debate on REAL issues, some are jerks and some aren't, but thats what FREEDOM is about.

I find it a travesty of Liberty that such a show can be silenced.

And some of these ppl have the NERVE to wave the flag and talk about how just and free America is....boo hisss.. http://www.joblo.com/ubb/mad.gif

Well I hope your right, and I hope I'm wrong about certain suspicions that are nagging me (read my latest post in The History Channel thread).....because things like this are definately warning signs. And the fact that most Americans could care less (just look at how many reply's we got here) doesn't ease my mind much.

You know, your theory is a little scary, but I doubt there is any valdiity in it. At least, I am hoping there isnt.

Well..thats the thing, wether or not it has validity or not remains to be seen, but a show like Politically Incorrect is the essense of free speech and intelligent debate, and things like this are discussed.... it's important that ppl are aware, because if we just sit on our butts and accept what we are told without question, we ARE in danger of that scenario wether now or later.

You know what, guys? The TV business is about the almighty dollar. PI wasn't raking it in because advertisers won't advertise there and its ratings are down, so it got cancelled. That's the way it has always worked, that's the way it'll continue to work. I'm sorry, but it's time to move on.

Well I personally will not miss the show. If not for Carrottop, Bill Maher would be a constant winner of my Idiot of the Year award.

I second that Colin. Actually, I think Maher would landslide-ingly beat out Carrot Top for that prize. Maher is one of those people where you say "How the fuck did he get into showbiz???". And no, it wasn't his "the US military is cowardly" comments that irked me. He always annoyed the shit outta me.

I used to believe (and still do) that Politically Incorrect is a great concept and that it would make an excellent show if it wasn't for that talentless hack Maher. He has this I-know-it-all attitude; he often brings up "facts" with no proof or evidence; and his opinions change from show to show (he says he's a Libertarian, but then he goes out and votes for Ralph Nader. Huh???).

What a fuckin' hack he is. I take personal delight in his show getting axed.

Typical liberal reaction to an otherwise nondescript happening...YES!! This signals the END of our glorious Republic as we know it!!!
So, let me ask you, how about Alan Keyes getting cancelled on MSNBC? Huh?
Here is a dynamic, consistent, forthright CONSERVATIVE voice being silenced...why no uproar over that? Because you don't agree with his views?
Yep...ALL cancellations are due to "political" pressure"...how extremely short-sighted...laughable, knee-jerk, UNFOUNDED theory...
And, while we're at it, PI was a fuckin' joke. That midget cock knocker Maher was a smarmy little prick. Let's see...typical show: Invite a conservative on, than allow him/her to be lambasted by the tree huggers.
Yeah, very entertaining. Now, this is not to say that I agree with all conservative viewpoints, quite the contrary. There are opinions and doctrines on BOTH sides of the aisle that deserve a good skewering. But, this show was pathetically one sided in it's presentation, criticism, and dismissal of difering viewpoints.
Maher tried to pass himself off as "neutral"...but, to those of us who take the time to actually study current affairs and Party policy, it was quite obvious that he had severe liberal leanings, which is fine! Shit, it's a free country and all. But, the great sham was trying to pass himself off as something else. And this vertically challenged fuckhead usually let his true colors fly to endear himself to the sickening "Limousine Liberals" in the entertainment industry.
Believe me, thingsgoinon, if they fucking exhumed Hitler, gave him a "show", and it was turning a beautiful dollar...he'd be on the air.
As much as most of us like to think that policy, platform, and principal matter to the grand scheme of things...it really doesn't. It all boils down to the almighty dollar...and we are a capitalist society above anything else. It's the playing field we all must perform on, and Maher ceased delivering the necessary revenue, hence, his cancellation.
I suppose you can take solace in the fact that DONAHUE! is coming back? Ugghhhh...

Come on, BloodiedCelticVengeance, settle down. You're allowed to express your opinions, but your post seems kind of angrily directed at thingsgoinon. No need for that...

Thank You Colin, I appreciate that.

And BloodyCelticVengance, no I wasn't aware of the cancellation nor the show you reffered too, if I had been, wether I agreed or disagreed , I would have supported his right to have a forum for it.

And all I can say about "unfounded" is just read your history books.....

First off, ~Colin~: I know that you are a moderator with a gazillion posts, but, that does not qualify you to misrepresent my intentions. You said "it seems like it was angrily directed"...well, if it "seems" that way, that means that you weren't...sure?
I was not angrily assailing ~thingsgoinon~ , just the rather alarmist stance he/she took.
Yes, I do find it laughable whenever someone trots out the inane "The Sky is Falling!" reaction to a common happening.
This country has weathered wars, Watergate, assassinations, civil strife, terrorist attacks, LL Cool J and Will Smith as "actors"...and we are still on our feet...whether you care to agree with the current administrations policies or not.
I seriously doubt if "Politically Incorrect" getting cancelled is/was as catastrophic as 'twas made out to be in the post.
While we are on the subject of "political pressure"..how about a REAL example? Back in the mid 90's, Michael Moriarity was fired from "Law and Order" and basically blackballed in TV land for having the BALLS(!) to critique the policies of Janet Reno and Slick Willie Clinton. That, my friends, was authentic collusion against a thespian who dared speak against the great liberal triad of Willy, Hillary, and Janet. So, you see, your example of "PI" getting the boot is a theory...Moriarity's dilema was FACT...but, no one carped about it 'cause Hollywood was too busy ramming their fucking heads up Clinton's ass.

Secondly, to you, ~thingsgoinon~: I should "read my history books"? Hmmm...I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume that I am older than you. Rest assured, friend,I am quite well versed in said field. I minored in Political Science, ingesting mounds of text and opinion on History, doctrine, diplomacy, legislation, foreign relations, etc.
Does this make me an expert on the subject? Does it mean everything I say is right? Hell no...but, it does serve to say "spare me".
I divulge this tidbit to better advise you to refrain from trying to give me a history lesson...been there, done that, got the tee shirt.

I don't really give a flyin crap how old you are or what your damn degree is in, because you obviously don't know anything about the rise of the Nazi regime and how my "sky is falling" attitude towards America's actions and policies are mirrored in said Nazi regimes rise to power. And by not questioning(notice I said QUESTIONING, not ACCUSING) said policies and actions, we become mirrors of the German citizens who allowed said regime to rise, because they too were silenced or didn't question.

Politically Incorrect was a show to raise issues , and discuss them, not a "platform" for Bill Maher. My issue here has nothing to do with Bill Maher.

Now I could go on and hit you with some of your type know it all snide, condecending remarks, but I choose to remain part of these forums, so go ahead, enjoy, I will no longer respond to you or care what you have to say.

And again, you are violating the rules of RESPECT on the boards.

Colin, I didn't intend this thread to become so hostile, I just think it's important that people are aware of all angles, wich is why the show exists wether you like Maher or not (wich I agree with many here, sometimes he can be a total hipocritical doofus)...but as I have stated ,that is not my issue, the issue to me is what the show STANDS for...and it seems to me that in this day and age of flag waving and world turmoil , that it is our responsibility to question removal of such forums.

I don't envy your position as moderator at this point, cuz I realize you may have to make a choice regarding this thread, so I just wanted to say I will not begrudge you if you feel it needs be locked.

Uh huh....

Ya know, ~thingsgoinon~, I could choose to sit here and rip you to the highest of heavens...but...

Your assertion that "Politically Incorrect" being cancelled is tantamount to Nazi doctrine is proof enough that you need no assistance in pointing out that you are in serious need of ritalin.
It also shows that you need no help in making an ass of yourself...you're quite adept at that on your own!

Have a great night!!!

WAIT!!! STOP THE PRESSES!! There were "Nazis" in the annals of history??!? Damn!! Thanks for illuminating!! Shit, I'm gonna go DEMAND a refund now from that rinky-dink, "back of the matchbook cover" school I attended 'cause they never told us THAT!!!
You, sir, are so benevolent in your sharing of obscure historical fact...to point out that little known episode is so...quantum of you!! Thanx a BUNCH!!!

And, face it slick, you refuse to respond because in a battle of wits, you are tragically unarmed.

Muwa Muwaha Muwahahahaha!

Have a great weekend!! Get ready for the Nazi's folks!! 'Cause, as so graciously pointed out by ~thingsgoinon~,...they're coming our way!! Please, live it up while you can!! The sound of Jackboots is approaching!!! Is that...is that..YES!!! IT IS!!! Colin Powell in a brownsuit!! ARGGHH!!!!
D'OH!!!!!
