Cock Piss Partridge...a true comedy great!

http://www.mgnet.karoo.net/imalanmainpic.jpg

Some choice quotes ;

(running away from JED, his No.1 fan)
"No way you big spastic! You’re a mentalist!"

(Whilst trapped under a cow)
"Cliff Thorburn is not, primarily, a presenter. He is a snooker – ex-snooker player – and is an unknown quantity."

(Alan's a tad pissed)
"I think I’ll, erm, go to my room and, er, lean on the sink. And have a little bit of… sick..."

(Whilst having sex)
"Sheathes, er, prophylactics, you know, rubber johnnies. Actually, being your age and everything there’s probably no need for them. I’m talking about the menopau – whoooo! Jill you know your onions! Do you mind if I talk? It helps me keep the… wolf from the door, so to speak. Jill, what do you think about the pedestrianisation of Norwich town centre? I’ll be honest I’m dead against it. People forget that traders need access to [half moaning] Dixons! They do say it’ll help people in wheeeeeeelchairs!"

I love his character on 'The Day Today' he's like a cross between Arnold Rimmer and Mr.Bean.

I never did enjoy the chat show he did though.

Well he was particularly good on The Day Today...

I did enjoy him on Knowing me, knowing you but I have to admit I'm Alan Partridge is Coogan's greatest work to date!

Chris Morris is a fucking funny guy also..his work on Brasseye and Blue Jam is phenomenal!

More priceless Partridge...

"Yeah. I think the Irish are going through a major image change. I mean, the old image of Leprechauns, shamrock, Guinness, horses running through council estates, toothless simpletons, people with eyebrows on their cheeks, badly tarmacced drives – in this country, men in platform shoes being arrested for bombings, lots of rocks, and Beamish. I think people are saying "yes, there’s more to Ireland than this". A good slogan for the tourist board – "Dere’s more to Oireland dan dis!"

I dont think he's as funny as Paul Whitehouse though, and sometimes the way he's always down on himself annoys me. I'd like to see something good happen to the character because he's so loveable.

There aint a single Whitehouse character I'd put in the same league as Partridge!

And you simply can't have Alan succeed...it would defeat the purpose...

The man was born to visit the local petol station at 2AM in search of a Ginsters pasty and a Top Deck shandy!

And you can't knock Alan's creativity...I doubt the BBC could find a finer collection of programme ideas...

*"Arm wrestling with Chas and Dave!"
*"Alan Attack...like the Cook Report but with a more slapstick approach!"
*"Knowing M. E., Knowing you...Keep it lighthearted!"
*"Inner city Sumo...very cheep, could do it in a pub carpark!"
*"Lady Shapes!"
*"Great Yachting Disasters...some funny, some tragic!"
*"Cooking in Prison!"
*"A millenium barn dance with Jet from Gladiators..."
*"Youth hosteling with Chris Eubank!"
*"Taking a butchers at Frank!"
*"Monkey tennis."
*"Cheggers checks out cancer."
*"Dictators with Dave Lee Travis!"
*"Swallow...a regional detective series based in Norwich"!
*"A Partridge Amongst The Pigeons...It's just a name..."

Down on himself?

He is living in a Norwich Travel Tavern...He believes Wings to be "The band the Beatles could have been...He takes prospective lovers on day-trips to the local Owl Sanctuary!

That is the whole point with Alan...Not only is he oblivious to his short-comings...He somehow manages to perceive himself as being a successful Chat-Show Host, despite the fact that he fails at almost every project he attempts!

He is a dislikable, yet endearing individual!

I fail to see how Partridge would work as a positive, successful character!

His cynicism and contempt are the most humorous aspects of his personality!

I mean lets be honest, Alan is not Bill Cosby...There is no lesson to be learnt from him!

I personally think he is the greatest Comedy creation ever...A strong opinion I know...but a character I adore in every possible way!!

Agreeing with Badcoverversion here, Alan Partridge is one of the greatest comedy charaters created!
Simply hillarious. And the little seques throughout the programme where he has little flashes of horror of him standing in a strip joint with leather underwear and a wooly jumper, standing there dancing and rubbing himself for that bloke.

Bloody brilliant!

Great show, my favourite episode has to be when Alan's radio show wasn't getting a second series unless he sacked nearly all of the crew if he wanted to keep his Rover...brilliant.

Alan Partridge....best comic creation of the last ten years!

But also the most enderingly pathetic. Coogan is a genius to make us feel hatred and sympathy in a character at the same time.....

Now all together...You Blonde Bastard!

Mentalist!

Alas...Finally a bit of love for Alan...

What a bloke eh!

"Lynn’s a good worker, but, I suppose she’s a bit like Bert Reynolds. Very reliable, but she’s got a moustache...Bit like ladyboys. Look like a woman, but really it’s a man. I mean, I don’t find them attractive, just confusing..."

Pure Partridge Gold!
