Second only to "The Simpsons" as possibly the greatest show of all time! What's your favorite episode? Quote? Host? Bot? I still have to think these over, so I'll post mine later. Anyways, here's a few great quotes:
(the title "Werewolf" appears on-screen)
Tom Servo: I don't know, you had him last!
(while watching "The Giant Spider Invasion")
Crow T. Robot: Invasion's sure going slow.
Tom Servo: Yeah, more like a minor spider disturbance.
Movie Character: Don't worry, the handbars are magnetic.
Crow: And if your hands were made of metal, that would mean something.

"MST3K": the finest achievement in television history...or at least the funniest. So many times have I stayed up late to catch this late at night on Comedy Central, I'm still paying for my lack of sleep to this day.
TIME CHASERS )when the villain arrives on screen): "Hi, I'm Bob Evil!"
THE GIANT SPIDER INVASION (when a crowd runs): "The Packers won the Super Bowl! Woohoo!"
And who can forget wanting a bowl of Wild Rebels cereal? http://www.joblo.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

I've seen about 2 episodes but I already know that this is one of the funniest shows of all time.
I read this quote on IMDB:
The credit reading "(Person's Name): Still Photographer" and then somebody said "I'm glad to see he's still a photgrapher."

I agree with ColonelColinCaine, if not for The Simpsons I would certainly dub this the best TV show of all-time. I love this show so much.
Favorite episode...I dunno. I love The Mole People, The Quest of the Delta Knights, Prince of Space, and many more. (As you can guess, I've mostly seen Sci-Fi eps. I didn't have CC when they were on that channel. http://www.joblo.com/ubb/frown.gif )
Best host? Mike. I have seen more of him than of Joel, but he is certainly funnier.
Best bot? Tom Servo. His sense humor is the closest to my own. He cracks me up!
I don't have a single favorite quote (there are hundreds), but one that I remember laughing very hard on is in Invasion of the Neptune Men when the records started playing backwards and Crow said "Paul is a dead man, miss him miss him!" *LOL*

There have been variatons on this quote used. One was "Oh, I'm glad to see (WHATEVER HIS NAME WAS) is still photographer, I thought he was laid off!" and the one I liked even more was "Winner and still photographer, (WHATSHISNAME)!" *LOL*

A few more funny quotes that just sprang to mind.
from Prince of Space:
Kid#1: He won't come out until later.
Kid#2: Why?
Kid#1: Because he's evil, and evil people don't come out until night.
Kid#2: Sometimes when nobody's watching then even come out during the day.
CROW: Although when evil people are mating, they will appear at dawn.
from Hobgoblins:
(Nick, a guy on vacation from the army, sees his friends through a window. They are obviously getting strangled by hobgoblins.)
Nick: That must be some kind of new dance!
MIKE: The army was looking for bright young people...and Nick qualified!
*LMAO*

[Suddenly the movie switches to a shot of an auto part store]
Tom: Well, see! The movie has finally thrown up its hands and said, "I just don't know."
Crow: I wanna hurt this movie, but I'll never be able hurt it the way it hurt me.
[While prisoners are beating up a store owner]
Tom(As store owner): I'm gonna have to ask you to leave if this continues.

Has anyone ever seen the episode with Manos: Hands of Fate? Talk about a stinkeroo of a movie! I'm glad they put that episode on DVD. http://www.joblo.com/ubb/smile.gif

Mystery Science Theater 3000 is the best way that I can think of to spend two hours on a Saturday morning. Unfortunately, I discovered it right before its cancellation, but at least the reruns are abundant. No other show in existence can make me laugh this hard on a regular basis. The last two seasons were the best, in my opinion. I just can't get into the earlier episodes with Joel. The humor just wasn't as sharp as it was with Mike.
The Giant Spider Invasion
Two characters are standing over a mutilated cow.
Mike-Cow tipping gone horribly wrong...

(On returning from going to retrieve the flares)
Character#1:Where are the flares?!
Character#2: Damn, I forgot them in the truck!
Crow: While I was going to get the flares, I forgot to get the flares.
(Scientists are examining werewolf skeleton)
Crow: No shoes. He died for his Nike's.
<and a few minutes later...>
Crow: We've come to the conclusion of dem bones, dem dry bones, sir.
(characters are sneaking out of a house)
Mike: Let's sneak out under the cover of noon, in the biggest car in the county!
and one of my favorites...
(during one long-ass driving sequence)
Joel: So, once again, "Manos"...
Servo: The hands of fate?!
Joel: Uh-huh.

One episode that sticks out in my mind is EEGAH!!
Joel and the bots just cracked me up all through this one.
*People walking off into the desert get warned by a man "Watch out for snakes!"*
About 20 other times in the movie: Tom Servo: "Watch out for snakes". Also, who can forgot about how badly they ripped on Arch Halls beach boy character?? "Sorry about my face".
I own MST3K The Movie, I absolutlely love it. They should've made a few more since this show has a huge cult following.

I have this one on tape and it cracks me up. Every once and a while, my friend (who is an MST3K fan and actually got me hooked to it) and I will say "Watch out for snakes" out of nowhere for no reason, then laugh and everybody around us has no idea what the hell we're talking about. http://www.joblo.com/ubb/smile.gif

We could always start a Joel vs. Mike fight (or the Mads vs. Pearl...). Personally, I prefer the older shows with Joel.

As I stated earlier, I prefer Mike. The show didn't really pick up steam until he joined the cast.

Joel and Mike are about equal, but I (very, very slightly) prefer Mike. There's just something about his Big Doofus Act that amuses me. He alsodid a great deal ofreally wonderful work onscreen in his pre-hosting days, playing Hugh Beaumont, Michael Feinstein, Morrisey, Torgo and a host of other miscreants.
Catalina Caper: "Lyrics by Aldous Huxley!" (Crow)
Sidehackers: "Chilli peppers burn my gut..." and "That was number nine!!"
Hellcats: "Filmed in Zaprudervision." (Crow)
Pod People: "Horse poster, courtesy Dynamite Magazine." (Joel)
The Day The Earth Froze: "Aw,cripes, I remember when dat happened. I went outside an' the stuff in my nose froze right up!" (Servo)
Bride of the Monster "Time for do my Cagney. 'You dirty rat...kill brother...'" (Crow, mocking Tor Johnson...)
Operation Double 007: "Michael,I want all copies of Captain Nice burned!" (Servo, mocking William Daniels in his guise as KITT on Night Rider.
The Girl in Lovers Lane: "We're drifters. You?" and "Are we going to hustle these men, Big Stupid?" (Joel moscking the main character...)
Codename: Diamondhead: "He's got about...30 cents in his pocket..." (Crow, mocking Roy Thinnes and his skin-tight 70's Sans-a-Belt slacks...)
San Francisco International Airport: "Ooooh...he's a Made-For-TV Hippie..." and "'TheAnswer my friend, is "Blow it out your ass"'" (Mike, having a laugh at he absurd Hippie guitar player.)
Danger: Death Ray "Special Effects by Billy" (Mike, commenting on the obviously scale model ship...)

I always perfered Mike. Joel is pretty funny, but I always thought Mike was funnier(the majority of the jokes used in the show are his, anyway) and the better actor.

A classic bit from the show: the singsong during the ending credits of WEREWOLF.

I've never seen this show, and I'd like to know what's the basic idea of the show? Sounds like some bad movies with some inserted commentary or something, I can't really figure it out...

That's about it. There is a human (either Joel or Mike), and two smallish robots, named Tom Servo and Crow, and they are more or less forced to watch cheesy movies. The films are shown and Joel/Mike and the 'bots are shown in silhouette at the bottom of the screen, as if they were in the first row of a theatre and you the viewer were near the rear. You can see and hear all the visuals and soundtrack from the film, but you can also hear the guys overlaid comments. They're a fabulous combination of sophomoric and highbrow (one of my favorite jokes ever had Mike referencing the Italian playwright Luigi Pirandello, for example...). This format works better, IMHO than the other idea, of dubbing entirely new dialogue over the pre-existing film (a la Woody Allen's What's Up, Tiger Lilly?, which IS a hilarious film, in it's own right, but that method tends to be a little too busy for my money...)

I Accuse My Parents is one of my favorites ("I won an essay contest" is my all-purpose non-sequitor). I remember laughing my ass off during one called, I think, The Skydivers - it's one that I've seen only once, and one that hasn't yet reached video. But most of my faves weren't even movies, but rather those industrial shorts about farming and proper grooming habits for teens of the 1950's.
I didn't watch MST3K as much when it moved to the Sci-Fi Channel. I dunno, science-fiction was never my favorite genre, and Mitchell - the crown jewel of episodes - couldn't be aired on that channel.
Oh, and it's good to see that not everyone rags on Mike? I've always preferred his timing over Joel's (and he's cuter too). Long like Mike!

Ditto...um, aside from the cuter part. Well, I suppose he is, since Joel was an odd-looking fellow. http://www.joblo.com/ubb/biggrin.gif Mike is absolutely hilarious. Far superior to Joel IMHO.
