I bought The Complete 1st Season this past weekend. It was weird watching it, specially since the animation and voices suck. Plus the show isnt as funny, I can't wait for Season 2 though.

I don't know how they consistently keep the show so damn funny. All of the great sitcoms of the past have gone through dry spells, but the Simpsons never have.

I'd say that The Simpsons is probably the single greatest TV show of all-time. Homer is the man!

a great show!
theres actualy a college,in michigan i believe, that teaches about the shows philosiphy and impact on american culture.
"i could do alot of things if i had some money"
homer,indeed,is the man.
In two seperate surveys for channel 4 here in Britain The Simpsons was voted the greatest kids TV show of all time and Homer the greatest TV character.
My favourite episode is probably You Only Move Twice, in which Homer changes jobs, ending up working for a James Bond type villain called Hank Scorpio. It is one of the most consistently funny shows on TV (I hope channel 4 give it better scheduling than the BBC have)
I've not got the series 1 dvds, it's just not very funny at that point. I can't wait for series 2 though and I'll be getting all the boxsets after that.

I saw this episode again just last night. It was funny as hell.

The problem with the simpsons is it's on tv so much that they repeat the episodes way to much and I can't remember the last time I saw a new one. Best dialogue ever has to be:
Homer: AAAWWW $20! I wanted a peanut.
Homer's Brain: $20 can buy many a peanut
Homer: explain!
Homer's Brain: Money can be exchanged for goods and services.
Homer: Woohoo!!

It hits shelves in August.
The Simpsons is a TV show that can appeal to everyone, yet offend everyone at the same time.
The Associated Press ran a poll in 1994. The spoke with blacks and whites, asking what their favorite shows were.
\
9 of the 10 black favorites, all centralized on black characters. Likewise for whites. Only one show made both lists -- That's right, The Simpsons.
I wish we were all yellow.
And recently, the some religious advocacy organization applauded The Simpsons for, depite their criticisms of church, being the only family in TV history to make going to church a focus of the show's central story.

The Simpsons is one of the greatest shows of all time. My favorite episode is the one where Bart and Lisa get their own News Show. That episode has three qualities that makes me laugh. 1. It has the cat lady 2. Mojo the monkey and 3. One of my favorite characters...Grounds Keeper Willy. The funniest line though is...
HOMER (in a postcard): Dear Marge,
This may be the beer talking, but you've got a butt that won't quit. They got these big chewy pretzels here and... (MUMBLES SOMETHING) Five dollars?! Get outta here!
That is hilarious! I also like the school house rock parody, but that's too long to write. I will leave you with one statement...
FUTURE AMENDMENT (Singing): I'm an amendment to be, yes an amendment to be. And I'm hoping that they'll ratify me. There's a lot of flag burners who have got too much freedom. I want to make it legal for police men to beat 'em. Cause there's limits to our liberties. Please go home and pray that there are, cause those liberal freaks go to far!

Homer is quite simply: the greatest cartoon character ever. that Hank Scorpio episode is among my favs, and especially, almost all Sideshow Bob episodes. are there any agreements that the parody on their "137th episode" of Terminator 2 is one of the greatest parody's ever?

One of my favorites is the one where they tell the story of how Lisa got her "saxamaphone". It's a very good episode and it's actually very touching. I almost cried a couple of times during it.
I've got a decent collection of Simpsons stuff at my house. I've got around 22 of the Playmates action figures, 3 of the playsets, a remote control Bart Simpson on skateboard, Krusty shaped water bottle, a couple cereal boxes, some Christmas ornaments and a bunch of other random crap like the Pez and coasters and what have you.
ANyone else collect the figures?

I don't collect any figures, but I download quotes and songs from The Simpsons from Audiogalaxy.

it was one of those weird episodes where they celebrate how many episodes they've had. but this episode was hosted by Troy McClure and in the parody, it was based on the episode where Bart becomes Mr Burns heir. Homer comes to get his son back, and in the original episode, he's lead away somehow. in the anniversary show, a Richard Simmons robot comes out and scares Homer away. the robot won't leave, so Smither shoots it w/ a shotgun in the face. its head puts itself back together (like T2) and dances itself until it blows up. but u gotta see it

Check out the book THE D'OH OF HOMER. It is a philosophy book that uses examples from The Simpsons as basis on the different theories. It is well-writen too, and not at all "dumbed-down".
Also -- Who here owns any of The Simpsons Interactive Playsets?

The Simposns is, in short, the greatest TV show ever (well at least tied with Seinfeld)! It's one of the few shows I still watch on network TV! Even though the show usn't as good as it used to be, there can still be a great episode every now and then (take the episode where Homer takes medical marijuana, for instance). I'd say the show hit its peak around the 1996-97 season. And, as was said on South Park last week, the Simpsons have thought of everything, and everyone just copies off of them!

I'm pretty sure that I ave seen every single re-run episode of The Simpsons that is still in syndication. I can't even go to bed at night without the greatest show on earth. And who is my favorite character you ask? None other that Ralph Wiggum. "I see a lephrocan and he tells me to burn things." "Miss Hoover, the worm crawled up my mouth and I swalloed the worm. Can I have another one?" "When the doctor told me that I didn't have worms, that was the happiest day of my life." http://www.joblo.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Ahh, the memories. Indeed one of the greatest shows of all time. To keep it fresh I say we need more of certain characters:
Jasper- The old coot is laugh riot. "Who shot who in the what now?"
Cletus- How about a whole show dedicated to him and his entire extended family. Slack jawed yokels indeed!
Gil- How about an episode where actually succeeds in the workplace.
Grandpa- How about a second episode of "Lovematic Grandpa". I've been clamoring for this for years.
Patrolmen Lou and Eddy- How about a CHIPS spoof with Lou and Eddy? Lou-"Can I hold my gun sideways Chief, it looks so cool?" Wiggum-"You do anything you wan't birthday boy." All time great quote!
I read an earlier post where the Simpsons were voted best kids show in Britain, this seems strange I always considered the Simpsons to appeal more to adults. Anyway it's an awesome show period.

Ok,there's a survey on a website for the Comedy Network(canadian station)where they ask for your favourite Simpson episode from seasons 1-12. Then,on July 15th,for twelve days they'll be showing the favourite episodes in order each night.
The website's here:

The most inspired writing of any show ever. And, consistently superior. Definitely up there with Seinfeld for greatest show ever. I watch The Simpsons and Seinfeld twice each, every night.
I saw an episode last night from one of the first seasons that was hilarious. Lisa had the mumps, and Santa's little helper tore up Homer's new $125 sneakers, so they put him in obedience school. Classic.!!

i think the simpsons is the greatest show ever. the difference between that and seinfeld is that there are people that hate seinfeld where as most people like the simpsons.

Damn I love this show!!
I think im going beyond obsession as we speak! Homer is my god...
That one where he had to gain 61 pounds to be disabled in obesity was pretty funny! And of course, the halloween specials! I hope they never stop making them(if they did, then damn...)

I love the episode where Homer is fired and joins a nuclear (I mean, nukuler) submarine. That episode is hilarious, especially when Lenin breaks out of his glass coffin and chants "Must...crush..Capitalism!!"

one of my faves is when Lisa makes that robot that teaches Grammar, Linguo
Homer: Linguo, dead?
Linguo: Linguo is d-e-a-d.
I laughed for about 15 minutes straight.
