In my last string of topics, I wish to talk about the very wacky and funny Family Guy. It's not that original, but is it ever FUNNY? Every episode I'm rolling on the floor laughing. So this topic is to discuss about the show and pay respects to it(it was canned for good). RIP Peter,Lois,Meg,Chris,Brian, and STEWIE!!

Yeah, it was a really funny show even if it did rip off of the superior Critic. I love the Kool-Aid Guy cameo, ever see that? That was really really funny. You can download it here:

I loved Family Guy so much. I heard they were coming out with all the episodes on DVD. I hope that's true because I need my fix. Same with The Critic for that matter. Two consistently hilarious shows that were victims of the network axe much too soon. Sigh....

That would be great! I'd love to have either show on DVD...

Series 1 is available on R2 dvd. No features but I understand it's the only dvd release of Family Guy so far.

I remember my hatred for Family Guy, I badmouthed it everytime I could. But then I saw it again and again and I started laughting till I cried, fell off the couch to the point that people around me thought I had gone the Jack Torrance way. I'll miss this show, it was extremely funny and some jokes that I didn't see coming.

Peter Griffin: Brian, there's a message in my Alpha Bits. It says "OOOOOO"!
Brian Griffin: Peter, those are Cheerios.

I just saw some episodes and I just want to do some quotes from them like the one where the students kept licking toads and Peter goes to the principal for a plan:

Peter(sitting down):And that's my plan.

Principal:What plan? You just sat down and said and that's my plan.

The Hitler talk show was priceless.

This reminds me:

LOIS: Meg, poor self image is the cause of most world problems.

Then it goes to a scene where a skinny weakling Hitler is working out at the gym, and gets angry when he sees the muscle bound Jewish guy with the chicks crowding around him.

People here have good taste in comedy http://www.joblo.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

I've got the first season DVD and every episode is hilarious. Also the latest series 3 I've been watching is. One of my favourite recent episodes is where Peter teaches Death how to pick up girls. http://www.joblo.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Here's one of my favourite scenes from that episode:
--------
(Death is in a car on some kind of makeout point, as we see the car shaking)
Death: Oh Mindy, oh Mindy...OH MINDY..
(No noises at all from Mindy)
.....oh no! Not again. I'll never get laid at this rate, unless....
(Pause, then the car starts to shake about again)

Oh my gosh, there this was one episode that so caught me off guard that I busted out laughing.

On the news, the male anchor turns the camera over to the weather guy Ollie and he says something that just made me LMAO. I don't wanna repeat it, though.

Well, okay I'll say it but I don't wanna offend anyone. I was just so taken by how the line was said that I laughed. And anything said on Family Guy shouldn't be taken serious anyway...

In the episode, the male anchor turns the camera over to the African-American meteorologist named Ollie. And instead of some fancy schmancy lecture on the weather, he just simple says, "This is Black-You weather and it gon' rain!" And that was it! LMAO.

Okay, it might not be funny to you but if you saw it, you'd laugh so hard.

And sorry if that offended anyone.

I will be getting season one on dvd.

My favorite moment is the kool-aid man appearance at court. That had me in stiches.
My favorite episode is when Stewie is taken to a foster home. With the best moment from it being the parade with all the

The best episode ever was when the whoe family goes to new your IMO. My favorite line was:

"Uh...Kitti?"
"ahhh!!!!get out of m brain!"

I really liked Family Guy, ranks somewhere between The Simpsons and Futurama.

There were loads of funny scenes, but one that stands out for me was.....

Peter says "this isn't the first time my appetite has got me in trouble" (or something similar), then there's a flashback with Peter and some other people (including Anne Frank) hiding in a loft while Nazis are looking through the house. Peter is holding a bag of crisps (chips) and eats one, crunching very loudly. Everyone stares at him, with the Nazis still in the house, and Peter slowly eats another. You probably had to be there.

Damn you vile woman!

Stewie, why don't you eat your vegetables?

Why don't you BURN IN HELL!?

Stewie (holding a nicely wrapped box): You know, mother, they say life is like a box of chocolates... but yours is more like a box of LIVE GRENADES!

Stewie was great.

This is the funniest show I have ever seen. I may get killed for this, but I like it more then The Simpsons. Heres a quote I heard from an episode I seen two days ago...

Peter comes through the basement with a white suit on and everything, and Chris says:

Chris: Oh no its the government E.T. run!!!! (E.T. runs across the screen screaming)

That was funny as hell. Along with the 5 minute fight with a chicken that gave Peter a bad coupon a few moments before that part. Also, there was one where the guy in the wheelchair Joe moves in,and Peter is talking to him,and I dont remember how,but his face turns into Mickey mouse or something. I was laughing rather hard at that moment. Oh,and the one where Bert and Ernie are in bed naked...LMAO.

someguy
06-18-2003, 07:48 PM

another good one, is when Peter takes the family out for the best dinner they have ever had... and they go to the drive through window and he rders 5 Chicken VAGINAS! haha

i told my friend i liked Peter more Than Homer... he nearly bitch slapped me... but they are at least tied!

The oompa-loompa song to handicapped Joe .....

"What do you think of the one you call God? Isn't his abscence slightly odd. Maybe he's forgotten you."

Quagmire stumbling in on a bound and gagged cheerleader in the men's restroom. A junior high cheerleader....

"Jackpot" [fade to black]

Peter giving an example of how he can be loud at the wrong times."

:::screen fades to black and white images. soldiers bust in through a wooden door and scour the room. shot pans up to a family huddled together in the attic with a girl clutching a diary (Anne Frank) . they are all silent. then you hear a crunch. crunch, CRUNCH.... pan right to Peter eating potato chips and looking at them as they look back with sad eyes...

OMG!!! This show will never get old. It pushes the envelope as to what is taboo and what is kosher in television and it will be sorely missed.

Girl 2: "Yeah, hes still upset that Abby threw out his baseball cards."

Guy: "Oh,well maybe I should make him a sandwich..."

Girl 2: (Chuckles)"Oh dad, thats your solution to everything."

-Dad gets pissed and runs up to her and knocks her out of her chair and smacks her 8 times, then the other girl runs in and stops him.

Girl 1: "Dad,DAD!!"

Guy: "What?!"

Girl 1: "8 is enough!"

-The dad then gets up and laughs.

Stewie Griffin: [sarcastic] Wonderful! And while we're at it, we can light up a doobie and watch porn!

Peter Griffin: Eh...yeah?

Oh man, I could watch this show over and over and never get bored with it.

Wow. Of all the amazing, classic lines from Family Guy, that one has to take the cake. Absolutely hilarious.

And good news! Family Guy is now being shown weekdays at 2:30PM EST on TBS Superstation, right after Futurama and right before Roseanne!

TV ANNOUNCER: "We now return to the Scooby doo murder files!"

Freddy: "Gee whiz gang, looks like the killer gutted the victim, strangled him with his own intestines, and then dumped the body in the river!"

Velma: "Jinkees,what a mystery!"

-Scooby jumps on Shaggy and yelps.

Freddy: "Your right Scoob, were dealing with one sick son of a bitch!"

I lost it during that scene. If only I could find a clip of that scene in Brian:portrait of a dog where it shows Peter and Brian in an old black and white cartoon...

That's my favorite bit of the entire series :D

I really enjoyed the episode where Peter had the endangered bird nesting in his beard. That cracked me up so good the first time I saw it. Still one of my favorite episodes. :)

It's awesomes that they'll be running episodes on TBS. Now there's actually a valid reason to watch that station. :D

Yeah, that was basically my first thought. Plus it has Futurama now, which means an hour of cartoon hilarity!

I too, have heard that TBS is airing Family Guy, but because of my general disinterrest in TV, I haven't come across it yet? What time is it usually on (I'll convert it to my own time-zone later)?

Best part ever, I was hysterical on my living room floor after watching it on the DVD, and rewound it numerous times. Da Boom (the ET episode) is one of the best, along with Road to Rhode Island.

My favorite episode was on this week. Peter's Dad retires and comes to live with them.

Peter Griffin: We love the Bible in this house.
Francis Griffin: Really. What's your favorite book of the Bible?
Peter Griffin: Uhhhhh...the book where Jesus swallows the puzzle piece and the man in the yellow hat has to take him to the hospital.

Family Guy is a very funny show. Not as good as The Simpsons was at its peak, but about a thousand times funnier than King of the Hill.

It's a very oddly structured show, that's for sure. It moves at such a frantic pace, there must be at least a dozen flashbacks per episode, huge portions of the episodes often go nowhere, and bring nothing to the overall storyline, and the plot often veers off into about a dozen different directions. It sounds like I'm criticizing it, but I'm really not. For most shows, this structure wouldn't work, but for Family Guy, strangely enough it does. When I watch Family Guy, I get the impression that all of the writers got together in one room, one of them started writing, and then passed the script to the next person, and so forth, until the episode was written. And often, the results are pure genius. The episodes don't tend to be consistently funny like The Simpsons were, but every episode has several moments where I just completely die laughing. It's nice to see a show that completely disregards all of the rules of television.

While I'm on that subject, can you people believe the amount of stuff Family Guy gets away with? Sweet mother of Christ! I can only imagine how many complaints FOX got when they aired some of the episodes. Like the wheelchair song in the Chumbawumba episode. I was laughing my ass off when I saw that, but I'm sure that plenty of people were fuming.

Anyway, I've only seen a few episodes, but other people have contributed their favourite moments, so I'll include one no one has mentioned yet.

In the Y2K episode, the guy in the chicken suit tells Peter what's going to happen at midnight, and Peter screams, "Noooo!" We think at first that he's screaming at what the guy said, but then he runs past the guy. The Trix rabbit is standing there with a box of cereal in his hand. Peter grabs the box and goes, "Silly rabbit. Trix are for kids."

My explanation is a little longer than necessary, but trust me, it's really funny if you see it.

This is one of the true tradegies of TV this show is so fuckin funny the DVD is outrageous and the show can still be seen on the cartoon network on adult swim M-Thurs @ 11:30 The new DVD comes out on Sept.9 2003 be picking that one up for sure. And not to be a dick but if you don't have a DVD player that's pretty bad, shit you can get em now for like $50.00 and they all work the same you don't need a name brand. But anyways The Family Guy is the 3rd best animated comedy ever 1. The Simpsons
2. South Park

MARK MY WORDS FAMILY GUY WILL RETURN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry what I mean is that family guy was the best show of the last 7 years when simpsons started falling off....South park has its moments as did futurama, but family guy kept me laughing on a consistent basis......Stewie has to be the best character ever invented...

The absolute best cartoon EVER. Brian is the coolest character ever to grace the screen and there's not one episode where I didn't almost cry laughing.

Like C-Des said, the best moment in the series comes in Season 3's "Brian does Hollywood" in the opening: 'Previously on Family Guy' . . . Christ, that's fucking wit ladies and gentlemen!!

Family Guy is one of the best shows in television history. It's so damn funny.

Peter: I'm sorry. What did you wanna say to me Lois?
Lois: Well, I....
(Peter just walks out of the room)

Peter: So how's therepy going?
Brian: He says that I'm in love.
Peter: OH MY GOD! YOU CAN TALK!

I don't know if this news was broken before so I'll throw it out just in case. Last month during my lunch break, I was reading the entertainment section in USA Today. In it was an article with the great news that Family Guy had been uncancelled. Due to the highs sales of the DVDs, new episodes had been ordered. Cartoon Network was going to air the new episodes for sure. However, FOX still has first crack at airing the new episodes first although FOX hadn't made any official decision whether they would air the new shows or not. This is not a joke! And I don't know about you guys, but I'm stoked.

Yeah this became offical several weeks ago. Likely Cartoon Network will air them first starting at the end of the year or early next year.
