Whats been up with Eddie Murphy these days, he doesnt seem to make movies like he use to. He coming out with the Dr. Dolittle, Nutty Professor, and that new movie he's doing. Im not saying it's crap but there nothing compared to his older flicks such as the Beverly Hills cop series, 48 Hours, Coming to America, etc. ect., the last really good good flick he made was Life. I alwasy like Eddie Murphy and he makes some of the funniest movie but as of lately I think he lost his edge a little bit.

Pluto Nash looks terrible and it has been delayed forever it seems like so it's not looking good. He needs to get back to choosing good scripts instead of taking roles just for the money. Maybe a low budget independent film would do him some good.

Eddie Murphy is one of the crapiest actors ever. I have yet to laugh at any of his horrible movies.

i think Eddie has made a nice little niche for himself. I do expect more from him at times but you cant deny he has had a sting of hits in the last decade...Dr Doolittle 1 and 2 were big, as were The Nutty Prof. movies. I also think that Bowfinger is one funny as hell movie. And Life is also very good. So thats 6 movies I can sit through from his "new" career.
But then there is that mess, Holy Man. that thing is just flat out bad bad bad. and this new one doesnt look to good either. but the same can be said about alot of actors and actress'.

Well, yeah, he's been going downhill for years. Sure, Bowfinger was pretty funny, and the first Nutty Professor was decent, but other than that he hasn't done anything good in a long time. I can't remember the last time I looked forward to an EM movie. I don't think it looks as if he's going to get it back either.

Bowfinger is only funny because Steve Martin wrote it and Frank Oz directed.
Murphy has got some raw natural talent and has gotten some writing credits ( he partly stole alot of Coming to America from Art Buchwald )...but thats about it...other than that he has had his projects written for his raw style...
I personally was pissed as hell at what they did to my beloved musical Dr Dolittle http://www.joblo.com/ubb/mad.gif

Although I think that "Coming to America" was Eddie Murphy's last "great" film, His movies haven't slouched. He practically made"Mulan" and "Shrek", And "The Nutty Professor" was amazing. Not too sure about "Pluto Nash" though. Eddie is here to stay.

Perhaps he should stick to animated movies because while his acting and live-action films seem to be at their worst, he does the best voiceovers for animated movies, dare I say, than anyone. Take a look at Shrek and Mulan.

Eddie's a talented comedian, but he just plays it too safe nowadays! I think I already said that someplace else right?
I've enjoyed some of his work, such as Nutty Professor and Coming to America. The guy knows how to make something funny. It's a shame his potential has not been fully realized.

Eddie Murphy use to do raw comedy and it was funny now it seems like he is trying to get into more clean roles . Hell I think maybe another Beverly Hills Cop or 48 hours might get him back, but all this other stuff is the Eddie Im use to.

I think some of the Shmoes above who point out his animated excellence also point out one of Murphy's great skills... creating characters... thats his real forte....Coming to America is a great example of this, live action wise.

Going down the hill? Eddie plummetted off the side of the mountain more than 10 years ago. It wasn't his fault, though.
He was taken down by what takes down almost all the great comedians. They are persuaded into doing what seems like 1783 movies per year. They usually burn out at about the same time the public starts getting sick of them.
Fortunately, Mike Myers seems to to be avoiding this trap.

I haven't seen Eddie in a good live-action film in a long time, but he was incredible in Shrek last year. His best role ever is definitely in Trading Places.
