James Cameron has been gone too long. he's been doing minor things, and needs to start doing major films again. He always makes great movies. And is one of the best modern movie makers. But him being modern is slowly fading away. He really needs another movie to come out sometime soon that will bring him back! which is why i can't wait for True Lies. Are there any other major movies that he's thinking about doing?

One movie James Cameron has been trying to get made is called Avatar. It is a new Scifi he wrote and he said it will be a very risky project.
James Cameron said “If we will be able to pull it off, this could be the coolest movie ever, if not we will have an egg in our face. But that has never stopped me before. We're developing a broad-spectrum toolset for integrating animation, motion capture, and live action in a photorealistic way, it will be revolutionary".
But this project is in developmental hell. Cameron wants to keep everything a secret, and since 1997 a sort of “preproduction” started on the film. It is just testing some of the revolutionary new kind of CGI that will be used in the movie. It is said the CGI is unlike anything else, if this gets made it will be huge.
As far as the story goes, Cameron is also keeping that secretive. Some rumors say that it is about these genetic machines that can encase a human soul. And Cameron has already dismissed the rumors about it being about virtual worlds or computing.
P.S. James Cameron put this project off and said no to Terminator 3 because he wanted to direct Spiderman. He said he was going to use this new animation in Spiderman if he would have been able to direct it. So now he is going to make True Lies 2, and after that most likely he will make Avatar.

Never heard of Avator but DEFINATLY sounds interesting, i'll have to keep a close eye on this one. At least he's still considering high budget movies.

I forgot what movie preivew i saw but it was a sci-fi teaser (which was pretty slick) and it said from James Cameron as producer or somthing.
His IMBd says
True Lies 2 (2003)
Ghosts of the Abyss (2002)
"Dark Angel" (2000)
Life is too short for a director this talented to take a break this long.

Yeah, I just knew we would have seen something cool from him in 1999 or 2000, but now we have to wait till 2003 or 2004 till we finally see something.
Also Ghost of the Abyss is just an imax documentary, its not a movie.

Solaris, starring George "I ruined Batman" Clooney.

It wasn't Clooney's fault. I loved Clooney as Batman. But man the movie as a whole stunk.

Clooney was horrible as Batman, and that was just one of the many things wrong with that movie. Clooney can not play a character with a dark edge like Batman, his performance as the dark knight was nauseating. I think he is a very good actor, just not a good Batman at all.
James Cameron Come-Back? I think he should stay where ever he is. After you make a classic like The Terminator and then follow with Abyss (much ado about nothin')True Lies (UGH) and Titanic (blub-blub-blub) it just goes to prove that some directors are negatively affected by success and fame the same as actors are. The Terminator was a one of a kind project at the time and it was a classic, Aliens was in the same vein. Give the guy 100 million and he's screaming "I'm the King of the World". Oh shut up please. Same thing's happening to Barry Sonnenfeld - Addam's Family (tough project to bring to screen without being a complete disaster and was actually fun to watch) and then it's MIB I & II and the Wild Wild West.
Sometimes it's a good thing to go out in a blaze of glory or simply step aside and give the up & comers a chance to set the bar like they once did.

Are you kidding? James Cameron is one of the best directors out there. The Abyss is a great movie, True Lies is one of the best action comedies there is, and Titanic was critically praised made over $600 million domestically from word of mouth plus won 11 academy awards. Not to mention every one of his movies were successful at the box office. I highly enjoyed all his movies with Terminator 2 being my favorite. So I think that proves his talent and I can’t wait for his next film True Lies 2. And I hope he continues to bring us great quality films as he has been doing.

Firstly, Solaris is probably gonna be great. Cameron's involved so the budget and the effects are gonna be nice. And Soderberg's directing which measns it's gonna be slick and stylish.
The original by Tarkovsky is incredible, so only a complete yutz would mess it up. I'm not worried too much about that flick. And I found Clooney was good in the two Soderberg flicks he's made.
Also, I heard that Cameron's next flick would be Last of the Amazons by Steven Pressfield. But for the last 5 years, he's been rumored to do everything from Tarzan to Planet of the Apes to T3 to a movie shot in space, so I'm not taking that seriously. Actually, I'm not taking any project seriously until I'm in the theatre and the movie starts.

Cameron is said to have not done anything on Solaris, much like Jan De Bont's producer credit on Minority Report. they get it cause of a technicality, but not for actual work. but I agree, he needs some more movies cause he's letting it all go to waste
It'd be nice if Cameron directed another film soon. His hiatus since '97 is already longer than Spielberg's 4 year directing hiatus(1993-1997).

I've never been a huge James Cameron fan, but yeah, I guess it'd be cool if he came back. Especially as TITANIC wasn't the greatest movie he did (and I'm sticking to that...the movie was good, but not great). He needs to do some new entertainment action movie à la TERMINATOR or TRUE LIES.

Amen to that. Although I sort of expect that "Ghost Of The Abyss" will be some kind of docu on the grueling shoot of Cameron's own "The Abyss". and frankly, I am not too interested in "True Lies 2". the first one didn't really cut it with me? I wish he'd gone with "Spider-Man", although Raimi did a bang-up job.
Let the man do "Avatar". It'll kick ass!

I'm looking forward to True Lies 2, the original was a great film. Cameron is a great director and there's always something about great directors where they dont rush things, I'd rather Cameron did movies he truly believed in but slowly rather than whatever he's offered the most money for.
à is done by holding down the left alt button and pressing 133.

á can also be done easier by hitting the button on the left from the "backspace" first and then pressing "a"....

It isn't his fault that he couldn't get Spiderman off the ground, must've been the biggest letdown of his life. Still, I'd like to see the guy make another kickass action flick like T2!

unfortunately 'á' is an 'a' with an accent aigu, 'à' is an 'a' with an accent grave, there's a subtle difference. Jame's will tell you, he lives in france

I seem to remember reading somewhere that Cameron is interested in a WWII film somewhere down the road.

Ah- geez, i hope he doesn't go into WW2. Its like every action director has to do a WW2. But i guess you never know. It better not be some dumb story like WindTalkers. It better be worth it!

Windtalkers' story was actually a very intriguing idea; it was just the execution that kind of ruined it.

I can do an "à" easily, because I got a french keyboard with the accents graves and accents aigus (as Bob said http://www.joblo.com/ubb/smile.gif ), so all I have to do is push the right key. Easy. http://www.joblo.com/ubb/cool.gif

I too agree that Jim Cameron has waited long enough to make another movie. He should get his fat ass out of his bathtub filled with riches from Titanic and start working again!
