just saw on CNN that Stallone has expressed interest in making a new RAMBO flick.
Stallone says that he feels the timing is right for RAMBO's brand of action, and that he would like to do this sort of thing to convey a political message.
The news caster tacked on that while Stallone says he wants to do this for political reasons, that it should not be ruled out that he may just be doing it because he needs the money badly.
Stallone has recently gone through a heapload of high budget flops.
what are ur thoughts on all of this?

I heard this morning that he wants Rambo to take on the terrorists. I don't think he'd do it "for the money" cause I'm sure he has more than he could ever spend. He probably believes whole heartedly in the thought of "kicking the terrorists asses" but I think it's a horrible idea. They should have stopped that series at #2.

well, maybe not because he needs the money, but to revive his career.
this is the quote from the TORONTO FILM FEST -
"We're talking about doing another Rambo because I think it's time to combine action with politics."
after more thought, I would like to see something like this (fantasy/action - what I call the Rambo movies)
i agree that I dunno about reviving the Rambo franchise.
maybe it's time for a new character?

Wasn't the original First Blood a combination of Action and Politics in the way of treatment of Vietnam vets?

As a fan of the Rambo trilogy, Stallone, and action movies in general I would love to see a 4th Rambo movie. I think Stallone still has it in him. It would however, have to be Rated R. No more of this watered down, PG-13 Bullshit we've all become accustomed to.
On a side note. I seriously doubt this has anything to do with money. I don't think ol' Sly is really hurting in that area.

No doubt he has pleny of money on him, but not as much as he used to because of all these flops. If this goes on he'll be forced into retirement. As for a new Rambo film, isn't he too old for this?

Stallone hasn't lost any money because of these flops. He's doing fine.

Hell yeah. I hope to see a Rambo 4. Sly could still do it believably.

his bank account may be doing fine, but his box office draw (his career) is taking a nose dive.
Do you think he may be considered the (well-known) character Rambo as a way of reviving his popularity?

I don't think this is a good idea. I hate it when movie franchises are revived more than ten years after the previous film. (Not excited about T3 or Indy 4). Stallone should just do a movie with this premise but with a different charachter. Buty since Rambo is already a cash cow, Stallone probably just wants to milk it again. Plus he is getting old and if he does another Rambo flick, at least go Clint Eastwood style with it and adress that Rambo is old and no longer a god-like figure.
