I recently bought PS2, and ive always borrowed it from my friends, but it feels good to have one to myself, i just wanted to know what the best games on the system are, i know a lot of good games are coming out soon that im looking to buy

Yeah NHL 2003 will be awesome(already pre-ordered it) as should Grand Theft Auto 4,Tony Hawk 4,BMX XXX and Smackdown 4.

Games I love are:

METAL GEAR SOLID 2: SONS OF LIBERTY (Finest video game in history)

SILENT HILL 2 (Great atmosphere and creepy as hell)

PRO EVOLUTION SOCCER (What more can I say...I love football)

GRAND THEFT AUTO 3 (Enough said)

MEDAL OF HONOR: FRONTLINE (Brilliant atmosphere...you feel like your'e actually there)

NBA STREET (One of the finest sports games ever)

RESIDENT EVIL: CODE VERONICA (My favourite video game series)

All of them are classics IMHO.

Metal Gear Solid 2 is the best game ever. Period. But since Substance is coming out, get that. And for people who cant understand the story you're dumb (seriously it wasnt even that confusing) and has lots of common story elements with the Matrix.

GTA3, I dont think I need to say anything. And I doubt that GTA3 will lose any of its greatness because of the release of Vice City.

Gran Turismo 3 or Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2 (not out till Oct. 2, game of the month in both EGM and PSM) depending on whether you prefer arcade or simulation, personally GT3 got real boring after awhile and cant wait for NFS. Midnight Club is also a very fun arcade racer.

Any Madden or NFL 2k3 for football fans and High Heat is the best baseball game (even though the graphics arent the best).

SSX Tricky is one sweet game, not a big Xtreme sports fan (not into the tony hawks) but I love Tricky. Also BMX XXX will have topless chicks in it plus real videos of real strippers.

Deus Ex is one awesome FPS/RPG, it not just about blowing shit up. You can play the game any way you want - stealth or go-in guns blazing because it's also an RPG you can build your skills any way you want. It also has one kick-ass conspiracy story and it takes about 40 hours to complete, so well worth the money. It's one of the best single player experiences you'll ever find.

I'm currently looking forwand to Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2 (just cant wait), Hitman 2, and, of course, GTA: Vice City.

i strongly recomend tiger woods 2002. all my mates love it even those who hate golf. very addictive.

PS2 has so many great games to choose from...

Anything GTA related.
MGS2: Substance (Which is going to rule).
Devil May Cry and It's upcoming sequel.
And many, many more.

Is this a new Metal Gear Solid Game? I haven't heard anything about it.

It's something akin to a directors cut version of MGS2, It will feature many characters from the previous MGS game (Meryl I have seen in it and I have heard Sniper Wolf is as well). You will also have the option of playing the entire game as Snake or Raiden, as well as some other new features and assorted mini-games; including a Skate-boarding game!

Looks amazing imo; I'm actually thankful now that I missed out on MGS2 the first time around..
