Okay, I dunno about you guys but to me Nofx is the smartest working band in the music industry today. They stray from the mainstream, radio and video shows, maintain a HUGE fanbase among a large age span, write songs that actually mean something, rock the house down the street or are technically advanced in the classification of "punk".

If there was a band that could revolutionize the world with a rational, logical view of life, these are the dude's to do it. Just listen to The Decline for example, everthing you need to know about how America is just a big pile a bullshit with a sugar coating is presented in a non biased political fasion. I have listened to this song a million times and everytime it gets better and better and better. If you haven'y heard it, I suggest you do because it can change your life, really!

On the other hand as a band they are so amazing words cannot describe it. The lead songwriter and bass player, Fat Mike, has a way with music which can produce so many quality songs at an extrordinary rate. The Drummer , Smelly, can whip out a sick beat with the same effort as lettin' loose a rank fart. El Hefe, the Guitar player, is a killer vocalist who can produce many voices(impression's included), harmonies and cool melodies along with good solo's and leads. And Melvin(other guitarist), well he's just Melvin and thats a good thing. I have seen them live three times and every show was worth four times what I paid for it and I have the pics to prove it!! Whether they are fast or slow, reggae or rock, punk or junk or just plain nofx-ish stuff, they emit a feeling that you can't get from any other band.

My favourite band of all time is definately Nirvana but because I can expect only a box set and Greatest hits cd from them, NoFx is the only band I can count on having flawless releases with tunes that make me feel good for the brief period in which their album plays( they have short songs).

So yeah, I love them, what about you? I would love to see if some of you other shmoes are Nofx fans and if so we can discuss song and stuff about the band. That means you Teenkiller!!

As I stated before, IF YOU HAVE NOT LISTENED TO NOFX, PLEASE GIVE THEM A CHANCE. I DID.....

I'm hobophobic, so what? :D

NOFX is one awesome punk band. I don't think they are the most talented musicians out there but they are still funny and they are still real punk to me, unlike BLINK and other poppy punk shit

Sweet! A fan! I knew I wasn't alone!

Yeah man, they sure do not follow that poppy trendy shit that is infecting the radio waves currently. I cannot listen to that stuff, and the only good thing about Blink is there kick ass drummer, he should quit and join other bands.

But yeah Nofx are awsome, and they definately have some good humour in their music. My Vagina and Bo Diddly come to mind for a good laugh. :D

And I didn't say they were the most talented band, but the smartest band out there for sure.

NOFX is a great pop-punk band, the decline is one of my favorite songs of all time, plus fat mike's a great bass player/lyricist.

I'm just wondering, doesn't NOFX mean No Fucking Straightedgers or something like that?

Actually it's No Fuckin' Straight Edge but, same shit.

And what a great name for a band, don't you think? Lately Fat Mike doesn't think so but oh well, I guess they're stuck with it.

I've never heard their music. I've never been too into punk (does Green Day count?); I have a Rancid CD and that's about it.

But NOFX's cover for Heavy Petting Zoo is one of the funniest of all time.

Yeah FeverDog, "Heavey Petting Zoo" is funny shit(you should see the vinly cover, it has the same picture but the dude is 69ing the sheep!), It was my first favorite album for a long time before "So long and thanks for all the shoes" came out. With songs like Hobophobic, Freedom like a shopping cart or Hotddog in a hallway you can't go wrong!

I'd say Green Day are punk, one of the only true punk bands of our time that ventured into the mainstream. Rancid's pretty rockin' too but I prefer Green Day, or the alimighty NOFX.

You should check out some 'fex though, I recromend them highly.

Tunes like Bob, Linoleum or Dying Degree wil get you started out.

I saw Nofx play at a Vans Warp tour a couple years back they were awesome and my second fave punk band next to The Descendents. First time I heard them I was 15(now 23) I heard please play this song on the radio and I was hooked but I 'd have to say my fave songs are The Bag, Stickin in my eye and all time fave She's Gone.

Your all about the White Trash two Heebs and a Bean album eh Bat girl. Its good though, one of my Favorites. I like She's gone, the Bag and warm the best from that album. Did you know that Warm and You can't play this song on the radio are in the movie "The Chase"? I haven't checked the soundtrack to see if they are there as well but they are in the movie.

Warm plays in the monster truck the Anthony Keidis/Flea are driving and You can't play... is played during the credits. I guess you can't play this song during the movie either! :D

Yes I saw The Chase if was after I had heard one of their tunes from an older friend of mine when I was 15. I looked everywhere to find that soundtrack and couldn't find it. (at the time there was no internet!). That movie is hilarious and the soundtrack rocked. DO you like The Descendents or Bad Religion?

ah man -- another band i need to list in my concert post...

i went to this show because i was in a "punk" band, and had heard them in my friends' car and around the house, but never really listened to them.

my friends pitched in and got me a ticket, then took me to the show.

it was a blast. I think this was the one with the Mighty Mighty Bosstones and another band whose name I can't remember, but who I actually was into. (Argh! Where did I leave my memory!!)

anyway I stage dived, met a girl for the evening, saw some guy almost break his neck climbing the rafters, bruised my body everywhere (was that from the concert of the girl?)

yes, please do!

Kill all the white man!

Well I have never heard the Descendants but I like Bad religion alot. I saw them at Warped tour in buffalo last summer and they were great, even though I had a cardboard box on my head (it was raining) and I couldn't see much, I loved it!

I really like the stranger than fiction album. Good tunes.

Back to NOfx, did anyone check out the rancid/Nofx split single? They covered six of each others songs in their own stlye, and it turned out sweet!!

My favorite is The regae "Radio" that Hefe' belts out. I really like Olympia W.A. too. Good feeling. I didn't like the job rancid did on MOST of their nofx tunes but "Don't call me white" and "Vanilla Sex" were pretty good.

But the important thing is,.....

what did YOU think? :D

Alas I have found this thread but Linus Likes Noise has been long gone. I LOVE NOFX! I have their albums and even more than 200 songs of theirs downloaded. They are the cleverest and funniest band I have ever heard. The new album, THE WAR ON ERRORISM, definitley rocks! They constantly continue putting out great shit. I picked up the new Punk-O-Rama dvd yesterday as well which has two NOFX videos on it for LEAVE IT ALONE and STICKIN' IN MY EYE. It has videos for many other bands too. For Batgirl1979 its got Bad Religion (American JESUS and Sorrow), and The Descendents (I'm The One). For $15 it was a great buy. Also included is ten minutes of live footage of Bad Religion and a 30 minute documentary on how Brett Gurewitz started Epitaph and got to where he is today. In a few more days NOFX will also be releasing the 13 STITCHES EP (two tracks only). Also for punk fans PENNYWISE and THE OFFSPRING will both be releasing their new albums this summer. I'm very excited now. Gotta go.

"I LIKE FOOD! FOOD TASTES GOOD!"

Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.

I haven't actually heard any of NOFX's original stuff, but I did download thier cover of Crazy Train and Iron Man. Really great tunes.

Actually TATU that cover of Crazy Train is not from NOFX. It has been widely mislabeled that way though. Don't know who the actual band is. The Iron Man cover is from their veeeeeeery early material. Probably around 86 or so but yeah its pretty good. Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.
