Hey schmoes,

I'm currently writing a review of Dario Argento's Suspiria, and one section I'm including is a history of what was cut from the movie. Here's my question: what was missing from the original theatrical R-rated release?

I know that the UK theatrical version had the following missing:
15 seconds of cuts: 13 seconds from the scene in which Daniel is killed by his guide dog (mostly close-ups), and 2 seconds showing a close-up of Sara's throat being cut in the wire-room scene.

But what was missing from the US theatrical cut? Was it the same footage, or something different?

Greatly appreciated, thanks.

Another scene I know of that is not on the U.K. tape from 4-front video:

When Pat is getting killed, she's getting stabbed in the belly seven times, in the end, the killer stabs right into her heart, which we see pulsating. I don't know how many seconds that are but you can note it easily by listening to the background music which jumps right to the view of her hanging body.

That scene is included in the "full-uncut" widescreen version by Nouvoux Pictures.

Ah yes, Dehydrator, I read about the cuts to the UK VHS as well. They also cut out virtually all the shots of Daniel getting his throat torn out.

Not really, if I remember correctly, the scene is there but the dog ain't licking the blood from the ground like at the Nouvoux-Pics tape. Man, god bless my Nouvoux-Pics tape!

Hmmm... I guess no-one knows what was missing from the US R-rated version?
