I was just listening to Toronto's new rock station (edge 102) and they started saying they have new Nirvana stuff (by new I mean old yet unreleased stuff of course). I thought it was bull, like some stupid joke where they'll play Puddle Of Mudd and say "Well they're basically the same". But they actually played an honest to goodness unrealeased Nirvana track called "You Know You're Right". Now I'm not even a big Nirvana fan (actually I think they're overrated) but this song fucking rocked! It's more like earlier Nirvana as opposed to Nevermind. Very rocking stuff. The dj dude said that Courteny Love and Dave Grohl had patched things up and worked out an agreement to release all the unrealeased stuff. Took em long enough. I WANT TO HEAR THAT SONG AGAIN!!!!!
p.s. I just heard that edge will play the song again some time after five o'clock (thats eastern time mind you). If you can audiostream over the web check it out.

oh yeah, its a DAMN good song... this song, and the rights to a few other masters, are what corteney and Dave/Chris are in court fighting over now..
If it weren't for Courteney's personal agenda (getting NINE MILL for an extension on her contract) I'd be rooting for her idea to release that perticular track on a single, nirvana greatest Hits package..
unfourtnately, it looks like she WILL lose and the band will be releasing a BOXED set, souping up dozens of demos and B-sides, at a ridiculous price....lol, who knows, mabye nirvana will kill punk AGAIN!?

Yeah "You know your right" is a great tune, and it has seen alot of bad vibes lately. But I guess the deal has been made and both a boxed set and a Greatest hits cd will be released featuring the new old tune.
This tune was recorded In early January of 1994, it was the last of three recording sessions Nirvana booked before the european leg of the In Utero tour. Kurt skipped out on the firts two days due to "complications" but made it the third day and they recorded a bunch of ne tunes.
Apparently "you know your right" was th eonly tune to be completely finished and there were several unfinished songs recorded (without kurts vocals, guitar) but I believe there are at least a few more worth releasing. dave grohl also recorded some of his soon to be Foo Fighters songs with Krist Novaselic on bass.
And seeing as "You know your right" is the LAST all out unrealeased Nirvana tune, a huge battle was fought to get the rights for it. I don't know If I'm out of line here but I would say that THE BAND should get the rights not the widow of the elad member. what do you think??
Docholiday, did you hear the live version of the tune or the studio version?

It was the studio version. It actually didn't sound too dated. Someone did a good job of remastering it.

Shit, I have only heard clips of the tune un mastered in it's rawest form, and the live version from October 93 but danm! I didn't know the remastered version was on radioplay already! I gotta start listening to the radio a little more.

I just heard it and it's an unmistakable In Utero b-side. To me it sounded like it was done on an 8 track, not too polished, but rather a clean low-end cut. A solid tune.

Actually it was recorded well after the release of In Utero. In Utero was recorded in the early summer of '93 and this tune(along with others) was recorded in Jan of '94. It does have that In utero goodness to it. I just listened to the full tune last night and dudes, a tear ran down my cheek due to its raw beaty and the circumstances surrounding the song.
Fuckin' fantastic man. :D
I can't wait to see a new release with this tune on it, so far no Album or bootleg has blessed us with "You know your right's" presence in it's studio form. Maybe soon though.
