Granted, Nevermind was clearly the most influential album of the decade, but it's such a pedestrian choice. Yes, it knocked me on my ass when it was released, but I haven't played it in years and don't plan on doing so anytime soon. For me, the classic albums of the '90s are:
The Flaming Lips - The Soft Bulletin
The Verve - Urban Hymns
R.E.M. - Automatic for the People
Hole - Live Through This
The Black Crowes - Shake Your Money Maker
[I've got over a thousand CDs, so how could I choose just three for ten years of music?]
But, hey, I'm the guy who bought Vanilla Ice's live CD, so what do I know?

A lot to choose from, but I wound up with these :
Californication by Red Hot Chili Peppers
Pinkerton by Weezer
What's the Story (Morning Glory) by Oasis
But, there's naturally a huge amount of great albums not included in this top 3...

Oh, tough call. You know, as much as people rag on 90's music, well, moreso the latter part of the 90's, it really did bring out some great albums. My picks...
Beastie Boys : Check Your Head
Weezer : Pinkerton
Radiohead : OK Computer
and
Ben Folds Five : Whatever and Ever Amen

Alright I'll give it a shot, here are some of my faves from the 1990's. In no practicular order.
Ten- Pearl Jam
Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness- Smashing Pumpkins
Mother Love Bone- Mother Love Bone (Hey anyone out there remember these guys? They were supposed to be the first alternative band to get the mainstream push, but their lead singer died of an overdose. The push went to Pearl Jam intead by default. Good album nonetheless.)
Revenge- KISS (This was the one that fueled their comeback, exteneded their careers for another decade, and led to the reunion that KISS fans had been hoping for since 1980. My favorite album of all time.)
Voodoo Lounge- Rolling Stones (This brought them back into prominence as well.)
No More Tears- Ozzy Osbourne
Social Distortion- Social Distortion
Dookie- Green Day
Badmotorfinger- Soundgarden

I've heard of them. They've got a track on the Singles soundtrack which was long, luscious, and lovely.
Never heard another song by them, though.

Since no one has mentioned it I got to give a nomination to Garbage's debut album in the closing months of 1995. Definietly influenced several other groups and deserves to be mentioned. Also thier follow up Version 2.0 in 1998. Fiona Apple's debut album influenced all the teen piano songwriters of today but don't hold a candle to the agsnt ridden Tidal. Can't think of anymore at the moment.

Never heard another song by them, though. Yeah, there only is one album and it's extremely hard to find. My friend has the cd, and I used to, but for the life of me I can't remember what it's called. I don't think it's self titled, but maybe. Very Zeppelin like.
