Horror movie fans unite. let this be the official vent about shitty paramount dvds and how they have robbed us. it could work kind of like therapy after dishing out 25 bucks for a dvd with no extras!

I wrote Paramount a intellegent, non-name calling e-mail, asking why they do not add extras and charge such a high price. The response I recived basicly said Thanks for writing, but we're not changing our policy or prices because there's not enough of a market for old horror movies nor do the people who buy the DVDs care if there are extras on them. What the hell? Well, I guess this is how Paramount treats people who disagree with them, they flat out lie(not enough of a market my ass! and people don't want the extras? Bullshit!). Paramount can go to hell.

I think we should all poop into brown paper bags and mail them all off to paramount all around the same time.

Hahahaha bowieee. paramount may have given us the movies in the 1st place but for dvds(of horror movies) they suck. they should just sell it to people who would be willing to make good dvds, and people want good dvds not crap dvds. but i'm not really a fan of dvds anyway. so i dont care

Once again I'll defend Paramount and say this: think of all the great movies they have given us. And I'll say again that you should buy the DVD for the movie. Sure, we all love extras, but don't base your decision on whether or not it has extras.

Whoops,I already did that, but I can do it again.

I think most DVD's should have extras. If they just provide the movie for 30$ you might as well buy the VHS for 15$.But leave it to Paramount to do this.

And once again I'll say this. ;) If the DVD doesn't have extras, then they should not charge $25-30. This holds true especially when, for example, I just picked up a 2-disk collecters set of T-2 for $21.99, looked over to my right, and saw Friday the 13th. pt. 5 for $26.99. Sorry, but that's bullshit.

I'll be honest. Yes, it seems Paramount has the most highly priced DVD's. But, still it bothers me when people base their decision to buy it on extras.

Understandable, but when you have the ability to give people a lot of other interesting stuff but don't, and STILL charge more than someone who's loaded their DVD with stuff? Well, that's kind of like one company going: "Thanks for supporting us, here's some extras to help make your movie experience better.", and then Paramount saying: "Fuck off, just give us your money and get outta here." Or, to put it another way, it's like having two new cars for sale. One comes fully loaded and sells for $15,000, while the other has nothing but the basics and sells for $20,000. Which, one would you buy, and wouldn't you be upset that the second company seems to be ripping you off? BTW, thanks for being able to have a differing opinion, and still being able to have an intellegent conversation. I may not agree with you, but I DO have respect for you.

The thing is I really do like extras. (Who doesn't?) But it's a pet peeve of mine when people base their decision on the extras alone. But, like you said we obviously disagree on this and it's good that we can discuss it without getting out of hand.

It's not just the lack of extras that's the issue though. The most basic things such as a trailer are missing from some FT13 DVDs, most wouldn't even consider that a feature but its just not there on some of them. Also, the covers for 5-8 were changed unnecessarily, and for the most part, for the worse. And it makes even less sense because for 1-4, the original covers that had been used for the VHS versions that were the original theatrical posters were used. And, possibly the biggest point of contention, with both the FT13 films and others like My Bloody Valentine, edited, cut versions, of the films, the same ones that were shown in theaters and released on video years ago, are the prints being used on these DVDs, when uncut, unedited, prints are available, and are exactly what fans want, but they simply aren't used. I don't own any Paramount DVDs, and have no plans to buy any. I do hope though that there is some truth to the rumors that Paramount will re-release the FT13s next year with extras and uncut. If they do though, whoever was loyal and devote enough (or maybe with just some cash to spare) to buy the current releases will have to 'double dip' if they want to get the better versions.
