Any SOAD fans here? Just comment about your favorite songs, lyrics, band members, ablum, etc.

SOAD is currently my favorite band right now. Just listen to their selt-titled album and try to tell me that is not the most kick-ass ablun ever. Their second ablum is also great, just alittle softer than 1st ablum (which is both good and bad). The best part about SOAD is you have no idea what's gonna happen next, the music could be slow with great melody and then the next second it'll be the complete opposite.

My favorites:

Songs: P.L.U.C.K., Sugar, Psycho, Forest, Deer Dance.

Album: System of a Down.

Lyric: How do I feel, What do I say, Fuck you, it all goes away - from Sugar.

Band Member: Serj, of course, his voice is incredible.

That's all for now.

Right here, daddy-o.

I fuckin' love TOXICITY, every time that song plays on the radio, I blast my ass off! Went to see them in concert here a few months ago and actually met the singer, Serj, backstage. Cool dude, very mellow. The show was anything but and I'm STILL trying to clean other people's sweat off me....kinda.

System of a Down are one of my favourite bands. As soon as I heard "Chop Suey" I was hooked! A friggin' kickass band, I think I might just go and play the "Toxicity" album right now... :D

I was hooked after Chop Suey too . Although when I first heard their album I was a little put off with all the non stop tempo changes. After a (very little) while I was hooked on their latest album as well and I got their first album as well, which I think is better than their latest, although they're both great.

My favourite songs are:
- Sugar
- Suite-Pee
- Chop Suey
- Spiders
- War?
- Pluck
- Deer Dance
- Bounce
- Psycho
- Toxicity

System is the best hard rock band since Rage. All their stuff is awesome. My fave song by far is Toxicity, problem is the radio rarely plays that (Chop Suey and Aerials gets all the play time) which probaly makes me like it more. Noel Gallaghers a dumbass for saying these guys are the worst band ever. Punk ass Beatle wannabe with bad eyebrows!!!

He said that? Wow, I never knew. SOAD are one of the best bands out there, and I'd take them over Oasis any day!

Here's a few more of lyrics I love from SOAD:

Psycho, groupie, cocaine, crazy.
- Psycho.

Pushing little children,
With their fully automatics,
They like to push the weak around,
Pushing little children,
With their fully automatics,
They like to push the weak around.
Deer Dance.

THE SPINE, A LINE,
THE FETUS IS MINE.
- Storaged.

Hey you, see me, pictures crazy,
All the world I've seen before me passing by.
- ATWA.

Revolution, the only solution,
The armed response of an entire nation,
Revolution, the only solution,
We've taken all your shit, now it's time for restitution.
- P.L.U.C.K.

Since we all seem to agree that SOAD is a kick-ass band, another band you guys should try out is Speak No Evil (currently my 2nd favorite band).

Check out their website: www.speaknoevil.com
You can check all their songs from their second ablum too (havent yet heard they 1st ablum).

They have very strong political views (like SOAD), which I agree with 100%. They even had to change record labels because their old one was trying to censor them. And, of course, they know how to rock but we all know SOAD is in a class all by themselves.

Here's some of my favorite lyrics from Spead No Evil:

You're preaching peace, but peace of mind is much better
Stop talking shit about your sports and your weather
And let me know what's really going on in
Your little mind.
Lunatic - Speak No Evil.

Once you learn to fight
They'll have to face you
Once you know you're right
They'll try to erase you
Before they get to you
And take you're freedom
Pass the power
Pass the Power - Speak No Evil.

SOAD is a solid band. I could listen to "Chop Suey" for hours on end, and never tire of it.

It’s imperative that you listen to Faith No More and Mr. Bungle. SOAD probably wouldn't sound like they do without those two bands.

I used to listen to Chop-Suey for hours and hours at a time. It's one of my favorite songs, and System of a Down is one of my favorite bands!

Beyond the staples center
you can see America
with its dire poor avenging disgrace
peaceful loving youth against a brutality
a plastic exsistence

No more shall be said.

I like SOAD a lot, and yeah, the influence of Mr Bungle is hard to miss. I really like their cover of "Metro" by some other band I forget. Does anybody know who originally wrote that song?

System of a Down is the ONLY metal/hard rock band today that deserves any credit or recognition. :) Screw all the Nickelbacks, Limp Bizkits, and Stainds. System of a Down rocks. In fact, they're one of the only bands I like that is totally out of the realm of punk.

Though I do enjoy the lead singer's voice....I would never say I would take them over Oasis. That's a little too far.

I will definitely check out both those bands.

Does anyone know any good websites for SOAD?
The best one I've found is www.systemofadownonline.com

Once again, not a big fan, but I haven't heard enough to judge it. I'm not a big fan of the songwriting, and to me, thats one of the most important things in a band.

I do consider Oasis a good group, don't get me wrong, but I just think SOAD are better. Maybe it's because I haven't listened to much Oasis in a while and have been listening to SOAD quite a bit, I dunno.

I'm gonna be the minority and say I really hate SOAD. Just not my thing

No shit man. FNM has influence pretty much every rock and metal band out there today. If you go back and listen to Angel Dust or something, you see where bands like SOAD and Incubus come from. Hell, I even hear some of their influence in Tool and Pearl Jam. FNM (and Bungle to a lesser degree) don't get *nearly* enough credit for what they brought to rock/metal/whatever.

About SOAD, I fucking hate their 1st album (except for Sugar and Spiders), but I think Toxicity is brilliant. Songs like Deer Dance and Needles show that this band actually has something to say and that they can fuckin' rock hard.

And JustOneFix, the song you are referring to (The Metro) was originally recorded by and 80's new wave band called Berlin. And just for the record, SOAD's version of The Metro is perhaps the greatest rock song *ever*.

Yeah, Korn got the bulk of their material from "Jizzlobber" alone. Incubus' S.C.I.E.N.C.E. is extremely FNM-esque. That's not to say it isn't decent, but it's definitely not original. At least SOAD has a texture all their own. The influence is evident, but they aren't directly ripping anything off.

LOL countchocula I was just listening to Jizzlobber about 15 minutes before checking this thread and I thought the exact same thing about Korn (and pretty much all nu-metal bands for that matter). It's uncanny. We schmoes must be telepathically linked. Or maybe we just have the same (good) taste. ;)

Yes, Angel Dust is a great CD. I would also recommend Mr. Bungle and Faith No More to anyone.
