We all been to a concert once or twice in our time(some alot more than others hehe)...so what concerts have you been to...who have you seen live?! (If you had to drag your little sister to a Britney Spears or Backstreet Boys concert...fess up and tell us! lol)
Oh yeah and what was the best show out of all these who is the best live band you've seen?
Oops and who haven't you seen live that you would want to...if they are "dead" or broken up...you can still mention them.
As for me it's been a while since my last concert...and back in the day I went to a few...so I will forget some.

I have only started going to concerts recently. In the summer of 2001 I saw Dave Matthews Band and about a month later I went to a local radio fesitval called Radio 104fest.
Radio 104fest 2001 - 25 bands including Blink 182, Saliva, New Found Glory, Sum 41, Stroke 9, Local H and others I can't remember.
Radio 104fest 2002 - Blink 182, Green Day, Saves The Day, Unwritten Law, Trik Turner, Sugar Cult and others I once again can't remember
Incubus and Hoobatsank - a great show. first time seeing either band live.
Dave Matthews Band again this summer.
I was supposed to see Eminem, Weezer and Ozzfest but sadly that didnt happen. But in a couple weeks im going to see Korn, Disturbed and Trust Company.

Not too many artists come to the Maritimes.....
However, here are the few I have seen.....
2000: Sloan during Frosh Week (luckily I left halfway through...I cannot handle them!)
2000: Choclair and The Rascalz.........
2002: Nelly Furtado, Swollen Members, and K-OS (it was a helluva fun concert)

Ok, we all were young once, so excuse some of the lamer artists I've seen. Jeez, what a cheesy list, eh? That can't be all, right? I must be forgetting some...
Oh, and I'm planning on seeing The Flaming Lips and Beck on Halloween.
I will say that The Boss puts on a helluva show, Soul Asylum was the most surprisingly good, and the Spin Doctors sucked ass.
And I would have loved to see the Verve before they broke up, and I'm still waiting for Joseph Arthur to come back to NYC to promote his newest CD. And I wish I was into the Dead before Jerry Garcia died.

Not a big live concert fan...I think the only people I saw live were R.Kelly, Jean-Michel Jarre (at the pyramids in Cairo), and the Offspring. That's about it.
fryman_3000

I haven't been to very many but I've loved them all
My first concert was nearly two years ago when I saw:
Offspring
supported by A and AFI.
Offspring were awesome. I was a huge fan then and I think this will always be my favourite concert. They played about 20 songs and were great with the audience, and they played intermission as some fat guy in a thong got the crowd moving :D
A were, in a word ACE! There weren't many people in the venue at that time but they were still brilliant. Jason was just so energetic on stage and I bought Monkey Kong when I got back home, and still love them now.
AFI were ok but I didn't like them all that much.
Then I saw Eminem
supported by a bunch of rap guys I didn't know. I think Xibit was there or whatever his name is.
This wasn't one of my preferred type of concerts although I liked Eminem. The sets on stage were great and he seemed to get the audience going. Still we were really crammed in and I didn't like the supporting acts. Still it was a great night out.
Then I saw Linkin Park
supported by Lost Prophets
Both were awesome, and because it was such a small venue we got really close. When we were cueing outsie Mike Shinoda stuck his head out of a window above us and started chatting to us which I thought was cool :)
Then finally I saw the one and only Incubus
supported by Hoobastank and a band called 911 or something.
Incubus are one of my favourite bands and I loved them live! If I hadn't of been sitting I would have found this the best concert probably. They were just awesome at playing live. I missed pretty much all of Hoobastank though because they came on a lot earlier than the tickets said
I caught the end of their last song and it sounded great. :(
If I could see other bands live I'd like to see Deftones and Disturbed. I would have loved to see Rage live although it probably would have had police all over the place and lots of chaos :D
BubbaStrangelove
09-24-2002, 11:38 AM
Ah yes -- That was one I missed, Fryman!
I saw Rage A.T.M. when they openned up for HOUSE OF PAIN in 1993.
It was a tinyu venue, and RATM was pretty much unheard of then. House of Pain SUCKED big time!! The only reason I went was because a girl I liked was going. Fortunately Rage won the entire audience over. Everyone, after the show, kept going on about the guitar player making his guitar sound like a turntable.
It was a good show, but I can image if I saw them now that the crowd would be unbareable.

I saw PE when they headlined the Reading festival in England in 1992, and thenagain the following year at The Forum in London (but without Flavour Flav, as he was in jail on weapons charges!).
U2 I saw on the Zoo TV Outside Broadcast tour in 1993 at Leeds Roundhay park, which still ranks as one of the best shows Ihave ever seen!

Hey, leave the dude alone, don't you think he's gotten enough bad press? Just pop in a video of Live tonight Sold out or your favorite bootleg and bask in the goodness that you'll never get to experience in person.
I know this pain all to well but have accepted that it was never meant to be.

Yeah, I saw him a few years ago, around the time of Ecstasy. This guy I was seeing had all sorts of connections, and he scored two tickets for a one-night-only performance at The Knitting Factory, in Tribeca. The show sold out in about six seconds weeks before, and I was squeezed by the back wall, but he was amazing. And it was FREE!
P.S., I see Hedwig is your favourite film - it's in my top five list.

Hey, thanks for the Hedwig qoutes Feverdog. I gotta ask, when you saw Lou did he perform much old stuff?
Before I saw him my flatmate read me a story they got from the internet saying critics panned his show, because he only performed stuff from the ecstasy album.
The show I saw was great tho, he performed alot of old stuff and "Perfect day" was the last song. It brought the house down.

Well, it's been awhile. Most of the set was new stuff, but he did play some of his old songs. I don't remember "Perfect Day," but he did play (among others) "What's Good" and "Walk on the Wild Side." But, yeah, most of the playlist was from Ecstasy.
And how can you dis a show because you didn't hear what you wanted to hear? What about the songs you heard? The man was performing to promote his new album; it wasn't a revue of his Greatest Hits.

Van Halen (in '82, right about the time they started to slide...)
Sting (One of my friends is a big fan. We saw him in '85 on the Dream of the Blue Turtles tour, where we also met and had a nice talk with Branford Marsalis; in '88 and again in '91. That last show was at he Blockbuster Pavillion in Charlotte. Squeeze open for him. That was bittersweet, because I got to see one of the best bands of their era, but they were opening for someone, and it seemed out of place.)
Living Colour in '91. Probably the best show I've ever seen. In a 4,000-5,000 seat auditorium. They rocked the house.
Wynton Marsalis. Same place, four years earlier. Saw Marcus Roberts and Jeff Watts in his band. Great experience.
Ray Charles in '86. I had an orgasm.
B.B. King in '86. I had two.
Dizzy Gillespie in '86. I was delirious w/ joy for weeks afterward.

Sadly I haven't been to many concerts,
but the ones I have been to, are Faith No More,
and Billy Idol. When I was with my wife,
her family treated me to 1950 through the 60's revivals
concerts. Nothing like listening to the original artists,
up on stage performing music from the era, I wish I lived
through. Seriously folks.
I am hoping to make it to The Autumn Blaze festival
this Oct. 13th. Christian Artists, singing their
hearts out. Me wanna go. So I think I will.
Concerts I regret not going to, are as follows......
Aerosmith,
Warrent,
Marilyn Manson, <~~~~Thems pretty much banned in NJ,
SonicFlood,
Rebecca St. James,
Rivertribe.
By The Tree.
And countless others.
I have alot of catching up to do.

Thanks for the info. I would never give Lou grief, the man is a legend. Just seeing him live was a thrill.

I just saw Korn, Disturbed and Trust Company in concert on the Pop Sux! tour. Trust Company opened the show and was pretty good and the crowd really didn't get into it until they played Downfall which sounded pretty good live. Disturbed kicked ass, sounding exactly like they do on their cds. Daivd Draiman can sing pretty damn good too not the usual thing where the guitars drown out the singers voice. Everyone was into their set especially when they played Down with the Sickness and Stupified. Korn, being my favorite group was better in my opinion. This was the first time I had seen Disturbed and Korn in concert and they were great. Korn put on a great show for the fans and they really get into their songs when playing them. They even played Faget which was great. And for an encore they came back out and Jonathon Davis had his bagpipes with him and played a little on them and then they played Got The Life. It was the best live show I have been to.

Lessee...
I saw Jimmy Buffett when I was about eight.
Tori Amos/Alanis Morissette in 1999, when I was...thirteen.
Lifehouse/Everclear/matchbox twenty, with special guest Carlos Santana, last year
Cowboy Mouth/Better Than Ezra, two weeks ago.
I've never had the misfortune to see a bad concert. I've loved every single one I've ever been to.

I seen this death metal band in a church one time, it was odd because metal is banned by all churches so I figured maybe the band gave the church a little fib to allow them to play. The Concert was awesome, the drums were set in the middle of the pit and everyone just went nuts, but the drummer got pushed onto the drums and cut open his stomach. Too Bad :(

I've seen every band I want to see with the exception of Red Hot Chilli Peppers. They include:
Nirvana - in Edinburgh, at the Festival (my Uncle walked over and said hello to Kurt while he played a slot-machine)
Radiohead
The Stone Roses
The Happy Mondays
The Charlatans
Primal Scream
Beck
Bluetones
Air
Prodigy
The Hives
The Strokes
The Vines
The Beta Band
Travis
The White Stripes
Beastie Boys
Oasis
Pulp
Chemical Brothers
Reef
Blur
Supergrass
Embrace
Foo Fighters (my Uncle managed a band caled Gin Goblins, they did support)
REM(in Boston)
David Byrne
The Eagles
The Rolling Stones
Bob Dylan
Pearl Jam
Stereophonics
Cypress Hill (can't explain this one)
Ian Brown
The Verve
Suede
Coldplay
Manic Street Preachers
Turin Brakes
Spiritualized
James
Ride
Black Grape
Smashing Pumpkins
Weezer
Green Day (they got people out the audience to take over the instruments at this years T in the Park - very cool, though I'm not a fan)
Rage Against the Machine
Cast
Paul Weller
Bernard Butler
The Breeders
Sonic Youth
Badly Drawn Boy
That's the ones I can remember. The best, for various reasons, were REM, Radiohead, Nirvana, Chemical Brothers, The Strokes, The Hives, Blur and Pulp (at Glastonbury). The worst was The Stone Roses in Aberdeen (sad to see a great band end up the way they did towards the end). Beck was outrageous and The Prodigy were fantastic both times I saw them.

I didn't word that right. The concert itself was tops but the atmosphere...we knew it was over. My mate Christian actually got upset on the way home and wrote a letter to NME (which was published) thanking the guys for the memories. I meant it was the worst because we were catching the swan-song...

a few people i know who were at reading said it was like watching someone die,in a very public manner, anyone who saw them at their peak knew what they should have been instead of the legend we tell the kids about today.
GARAGE FLOWER is good ,very raw ,a lot of the stuff on it like
so young
tell me
all across the sands
i wanna be adored
where angels play
this is the one
ended up as either album tracks or b sides on the first album or the complete album,it is deffinatly worth getting for the serious fans but a lot of people may find some of it hard going.
p/s i am one of thoses strange roses fans who preffered the second coming, tightrope is an undescovered masterpeice, but on the first album waterfall blows me away, listen too (probably)all in the mind by oasis for a direct rip off.

My all time favourite Roses track is Tears but as seldom few people know it of the Second coming I always go with the second favourite, Sugar Spun Sister...
So many tunes, man, it's like hearing Mondays do Lazyitis and wondering...did we really get to live through that period. We're lucky bastards.
P.S. New Fast Automatic Daffodils...Northside...Flowered Up...The La's...the mock turtles...Ride...Fuck me, those were the days.

I was sat next to a corpse and a wrong 'un...and I had a lovely hotdog and a few lagers! Crackin' stuff!
Managed to pick up a topless pic of Mr Young, You've got to love the camp quintessential English Gent!
Will was very bloody good ("You and I" was a highlight)...Gareth was a bagoshit ("Suspicious Minds" was priceless!)
Harmless Pop, had a fabulous night...and I'm slightly inebriated!

Apologies Bowieee, I really need to go easy on the Colloquialisms!
"Will & Gareth" are the two kids from the British "Pop Idol"...
Glorified karaoke singers, but they're good for a boogie.
The Concert was harmless entertainment...and I'm quite partial to a bit of "Will Young" (He's the actual winner, very wholesome, posh...and GAY...I'm strangely attracted to the bugger!)
