Probably Return of the Jedi. I was probably 5-6 years old back then but I remember going to Westwood Village in SoCal and seeing it with all the UCLA crowd. Dont think I had been inside a theater before, except the XXX ones my dad took me to.

The first movie I saw in theaters was The Land Before Time when I was four. I remember being very sad when Little Foot's mom died. :(

The first movie I can remember watching, and with whom (my grandparents, as my mom and step-dad went on a honeymoon), was the rerelease of "Fantasia" in October of 1990.
My mom says the first movie I ever saw though (and she says I actually was watching it and enjoying it, albeit without any understanding of it) was "Witness" in April of 1985 (yes, in the theatre)... I was a month old.

Ha! Ha! I see I'm not the only one humorousl fucked up cause of my parents. I saw that flick on video and I still have issues with the ocean, which especially sucks when you live for 9 years in Miami!
I think the first movie I saw in theatres was either Gremlins with my dad and brother or A Nightmare on Elmstreet 2 with them and my aunt. We were originally supposed to see the Aristacats, but that was sold out and my teeange aunt thought it would be a good idea to bring two kids under 10 to that kind of flick.
Now, those are the movies I can remember, however my mother told me that she took me to see The Black Cauldron when that came out, so I must have been 4 years old and will therefore have to take her word for it.

Jeez, I feel old reading these responses. I remember seeing a rerelease of Pinocchio when I was a wee lad. At the AMC Marlton 8 in New Jersey, I recall having to sit in the first row, and, damn, the screen looked huge.
Other movies followed: E.T., Gremlins, Song of the South, Rocky IV, Back to the Future. But I got forever hooked on movies in 1985, when I was eleven. And, yes, the movie was Clue. I loved the game (and can still kick all y'all's asses), so I couldn't wait to see this movie, which was released in theatres with three different endings. I saw the ending in which *SPOILER* the killer was Miss Scarlet; ushers (GCC Cherry Hill Mall 2, which is, the last time I heard, a Limited clothing store) gave out little Clue notepads, on which some schmuck wrote "Miss Scarlet did it." And that was the first movie SPOILed for me.
But Clue was what sucked me in, and it'll always be in my Top 20.

When I was teeny-tiny (about 4 years old), my mum used to take me to see the Disney classic re-releases at our local cinema in Lexington Mass. The first films I saw on the big screen were "Snow White", "Lady and the Tramp" and "Cinderella". I've had a love of animation ever since.
When I was 5 I discovered the joys of the Creature Double-Feature on Channel 56, and saw "King Kong", "Dracula" and "Godzilla". Still a horror lover to this day thanks to that.

"Return of the Jedi" for me, but I swear I remember going to the local Drive-In with my parents to see "Raiders of the Lost Ark" though my mother remembers otherwise.

It was either Robin Hood: Prince Of Thieves of some version of the jungle book which I think was animated, which ever of those came first. I obviously saw other flicks before that but those are the earliest two I can remember because the Jungle book was seen with my Auntie who now lives 1200 miles away and Robin Hood was the first film that shocked me with its gorey type scenes.

Don't feel too old. I've got you by a couple (6) years. Read the cartoon thread over in the TV forum if you want to feel old.

I think "Land Before Time" came first. But I could be wrong. Both were pretty good animated features, but I remember "The Little Mermaid" was made during Disney's 'Katzenberg Years', and the quality of the animation was much better.
